And if anti-Israel, I'm sure there will be a lot of Hamas flags and support too.

London Mayor Khan Slammed by Jewish Groups Over Refusal to Ban Anti-Israel Al-Quds March

London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has been slammed by members of the capital’s Jewish community over his refusal to ban Sunday’s anti-Israel al-Quds Day march and its traditional display of flags supporting the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

Raphi Bloom, chairman of North West Friends of Israel group, told Breitbart News that despite repeated lobbying of Mr. Khan and a petition supported by almost 20,000 signatures calling for the event to be cancelled, the city’s leader has remained steadfast in his refusal to intervene.

“Hezbollah is a proscribed terrorist organisation. It makes NO distinction between its armed and political wing, yet its supporters will be allowed to march through London’s streets unhindered,” Mr. Bloom said. “This is extremely disappointing and challenges the mayor’s commitment to rid the streets of London of extremism.

“For many years this march has been rife with anti-Semitism and the fulsome support of a terrorist organisation – Hezbollah. I am sure I do not need to remind anyone that Hezbollah is currently massacring Syrian civilians on behalf of President Assad and is funded by Iran – one of the major supporters of global terrorism in the world today.

Interesting ... if also typical !

But with what's happening in London right now, I'll be very surprised if this goes ahead. London is in crisis, we're observing a period of mourning for those who've died in the recent disaster I'm reporting on, below.

I've been in two minds as to whether to post on this, as I don't see a lot of room for debate on an American-centred forum. For this reason I've not started a separate thread (.. though it probably deserves one). Still ... it IS a news item, and in fact it's been completely dominating domestic news channels, here, for days (.. very understandably ..).

A huge fire has engulfed a tower block in west London, having broken out in the early hours of Wednesday, leaving several people dead.

The blaze ripped through the 24-storey Grenfell Tower in Latimer Road, trapping residents inside as 200 firefighters fought the blaze. Emergency services attempted to evacuate the concrete block and said at least 50 people are being treated in hospital.

The fire gutted the building, with flames soaring from the second floor to the top of the building. Witnesses reported hearing screams from people inside. Police have said people are being treated for "a range of injuries".

Current death toll -- 30 dead, but the eventual tally is expected to be at least 70.

It's been THE major news story here for days. Apart from the nature of the story, and questions it raises as to how safe other tower blocks are, it's having political ramifications, recriminations flying around in all sorts of ways.

The fire, at broke out at the 24-storey block, which contained 120 one and two-bedroom flats, shortly before 01:00 BST on Wednesday.

It tore through all floors of the building and took more than 200 firefighters 24 hours to bring it under control.

Protests were held in London on Friday as residents demanded more support for those affected by the fire.

Between 50 and 60 people stormed Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall as members of the public said the homeless needed help "right now".

There were also angry scenes outside the Clement James Centre, in North Kensington.

Dozens of demonstrators surged towards the entrance and there were scuffles outside as organisers appealed for calm.

The BBC's Matthew Price said locals had told him they wanted the prime minister to "cut out" Kensington and Chelsea council from the relief effort.

He said senior members of the residents' association described an "absolute chaos" of "no organisation" from officials. He added: "They do not believe they are capable of managing the response. Such is the total and utter lack of trust."

So sad, I am very sorry about this tragedy my friend.
Has any consideration been given as to the cause of the fire?
With the muslim activity there as of late and their habit of murdering innocent people, could it be arson and an act of protest from those so very gentle, kind and peace-loving muzzies?
As they seek new ways to murder we infidels...??
That muzzy mayor should be dragged into the streets and beaten like the craven dog that he is, IMHO.--Tyr

Too much for UK, just too much. It reminds me of when 9/11 was followed by so many other bad things-anthrax, beltway snipers, etc.

No sprinklers in a building that side is just wrong on too many levels. That there were cosmetic changes that far exceeded the safety concerns, some heads should roll. To be fair though, sounds like higher folks responsible than the mayor, who I believe wasn't elected at the time this was all done?

Many thanks for your thoughts and commiserations, Tyr - appreciated.

There definitely has been consideration as to its cause. Interestingly, even now, there's no actual official confirmation ... but it's widely believed that a combination of factors made this happen as it did.

Firstly .. almost at the bottom of the block, in one of the apartments, we're told that 'an exploding fridge' was its cause [how exactly a fridge explodes, I don't know ..]. The fire this caused leaped out of the window, reached cladding which had recently been fitted to the outside of the block, then, this cladding caught fire ! Videos of its progress do seem to show that the cladding was carrying it upwards, outside, and then reaching inside other apartments as it reached them.

Other issues exist. The tower block had just ONE escape staircase. It also wasn't fitted with any sprinkler system. As if that wasn't bad enough, it also lacked a fire alarm system !! SO ... there's much talk about neglect, cheap and unsuitable materials used for cladding, etc ... in fact, we're told that the material is outlawed in the US (and Germany) for tall buildings !!

Nobody at all has suggested this was terror related. Not even any talk at all touching on the possibility.

One other demographic fact, which even I as an ex-Londoner didn't know ... even though the borough of Kensington and Chelsea is known to be one of the 'wealthiest' in England, it has two distinct communities. To the south, those with wealthy citizens living in it. To the north - where this happened - the poorer population. It consists, interestingly, in large measure of ethnic minorities, including Muslims. The tower block was full of such people. If we believe propaganda, you'd be tempted to believe that Kensington Council skimped on their duty of care to that poorer community, and even repeatedly ignored their concerns about the block being a fire hazard.

It's proving to be quite a scandal. A criminal investigation is ongoing.

Feelings are running very high about it all. Theresa May visited the area twice ... in her first visit, she only spoke with firefighters and officials, which infuriated the 'locals', who interpreted it as an uncaring attitude. She corrected that the second time around, but not before enduring heckling which branded her 'a coward' for avoiding them the first time around.

The Government says it's determined to win the trust of the local community (acknowledging it doesn't have it at the moment).

So ... much grief, leading to fury ... Kensington Council offices were stormed by a mob yesterday.

It's all a massive mess. There's the task of rehousing all the survivors, seeing to it that they can re-establish their lives.

Needless to say, our news has concentrated on little else since Wednesday. So .. Jim's expected 'Hezbollah' event is, I'd say, highly unlikely to go ahead in this climate !! ....

No, he wasn't. To pre-empt what you're obviously getting at, Boris Johnson was his predecessor.

And, yes. The Left is doing its damndest to make capital out of all this. There were two protest marches yesterday. I saw pictures of each. Many 'Socialist Worker' placards could be seen to be carried ... so it's reasonable to presume that much of the current anger is being fomented by the Left, determined to 'stick it' to the Conservatives as being 'their' scandal.

Socialist Worker people can always be spotted amongst marches, protests, having major potential. They've been seen in Union disputes for many years. They were much in evidence when Obama visited Newport in Wales a couple of years ago, for the 2014 NATO summit ...

They are professional agitators. They feed on discontent. I think they'll make matters a lot worse - typical of the rabid Left here.

I wasn't 'obviously getting at' anything. I really don't know enough about UK, European politics to do more than put in an observation from what I read or see on TV. I do feel terrible though for those killed, made homeless, and just the trauma on the city by this and all the events of recent past.

A Muslim not condemning Islamic terrorists or terrorism. Who'd a thunk it?

Well, you did point out that the current Mayor wasn't in Office when the problem (yet to be officially confirmed) was created.

Let me make much the same point about Theresa May. Likewise, she wasn't PM until more recently, either. Though, of course, the Left is doing all it can to make her a whipping-post for it nonetheless ... trying to add to the electoral weakness of her Government, now it's lost its Commons majority.

Such is the nature of the Left.

My observation was made on being fairly good reader and a bit of basic math. ;) I know the mayor hadn't been in office all that long and the building facade certainly didn't go up in the past year or so, deductive reasoning. If I'd thought of May, same would hold. While I know she just had a tad of a problem with her calls of early election, it was 'early' and had a couple years she could have waited for. Same would work.

Be all that as it 'may', Theresa's hold on her job is more than a tad of a problem (her minority Government, ditto). A week ago, there was speculation she'd be ousted from her job within days. The deal necessary with the DUP to keep the Conservative Government viable still hasn't been finalised.

The Left is using whatever excuse it can to try and show she doesn't belong in 10 Downing Street (some BBC commentary has been highly critical). This tower block disaster is one such. They want the 'popular mood' to turn against her, enough to make her position untenable.

I was understating her problems. The rest is certainly what partisans do, they want her office and all those subordinate.

Obviously.....just as we experienced with 8 years of OBAMA. The Mayor of London doesn't want to INSULT, or HURT the feelings of his friends in the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD. It might be dangerous....even deadly for him to BAN Hezbollah, or any other organized TERROR groups. That's how they play the SHARIA LAW GAMES.
