1) Tell China to deal with their mad dog or we will.

2) Tell Fatboy to disarm.

3) Place THAAD in South Korea, bolstered by Patriot anti-aircraft / missile systems.

4) Place US Navy assets to additionally shield SK from inbound missiles.

5) Pull back all assets from the DMZ to prevent artillery casualties.

6) Jam all radar & comm.

7) Destroy all radar & comm sites with missiles & stealth strikes.

8) Simultaneously destroy all artillery, mobile missile launchers, military installations, bridges, highways, fuel storage, naval facilities, ships, airbases, aircraft.

9) Once air superiority is achieved, strike any and all troop movements south. Pound them unmercifully until they retreat back North of the DMZ.

10) Use bunker busters to nail Fatboy. Keep drilling down the same hole as the last one until the job is done.

11) Offer assistance to North Korea in setting up their own new shiny modern government - perhaps setting the stage of rejoining South Korea in their democracy.

You may be right, though I think it's entirely possible NK will toss a nuke, it will then cease to exist. I guess the follow up by China or whomever will decide where it goes from there.

It takes a 'perfect storm' of events and players to lead to a WW. IMO, WWII was really just a continuation of the first. All the alliances and intrigue across world capitals made it nearly inevitable.

In a sense, we are seeing some of that today, though NK would not likely be a trigger as they are pretty isolated by choice and sanctions, IMO. That doesn't mean that their shooting a nuke whether at the South or Japan, or Hawaii wouldn't be horrendous, without a doubt it would be and all should be done to prevent it.

Watching the ME, now with a rising Iran, major power Russia, the whole Muslim/terror connections, world war could certainly be possible.

Their military technology is based on duplicating Russian junk and their war plan is based on overwhelming numbers. The latter is their advantage tactically. We can beat that. Korea is a peninsula.

I have no expertise in this area, but they do have a boatload of cannon fodder.They have the numbers. But an idiot with a rifle is an idiot WITH A RIFLE. An idiot can shoot you just as dead as a sniper. In the Korean War, they overwhelmed us with numbers. And they STILL didn't win. They tried their best to take out the Marines and while the Marines withdrew to the cover of Naval firepower, they (the gooks) got their asses kicked the whole way and we brought home all our dead. The Battle of the Chosin Resovoir is famous in Marine Corps history. We had to fight our way out against the Chinese Army and we didn't take no shit.

And yes I said "we". Ain't a football game. We're all brothers in blood.
