Kath - explain the SAT's?

So back in the 80's when I took the SAT test, the high score we could get was 1600, 800 for math, and 800 for verbal/writing. Now Jordan was talking about his, as he is taking his tests next month. He said the max is 1600. I told him what my score was back in the day, and he told me how much it sucked!! - but then he told me it was because he thought the high score back then was 2400. He then looked it up and showed me how it "used to be" 2400. Then I showed him in return how it was tops 1600 in the 80's - but then we BOTH read that there was a time it was 2400? SO confusing!!

Fill me in woman!! Why am I so confused by these numbers?

The SAT is a comprehensive college entrance examination. It underwent a major revision last year. You can read about it here:

High school students can also take the ACT, another college exam.

You can take one or both, depending on where you want to go to school and what they require.

I took the SAT in high school. Didn't do well enough to suit my purposes, so I took it a second time. I scored 1540. Which totally upset my future husband, who "only scored 1520. (disclaimer: he took it once)

I believe the new SAT reverts to the old maximum of 1600. There are three sections: Math, reading and writing.
Most of the questions revolve around deductive reasoning. The key to success is not being in a hurry and sorting out each question.

Unless you are trying to get into the prestigious school or obtain an academic scholarship, a score of 1000 is usually sufficient.
Many schools are placing just as much weight on outside activities as grades. They want students who will contribute to student life as much as in the classroom.

They've messed with SAT and ACT a lot, then again, they've been doing the same with AP courses.

Frankly, I'm amazed the progressives haven't done away with all standardized tests by now. They're so non-inclusive and racist.:rolleyes:
