It depends on the condition of the skin, mucous membranes their features and the hardness of water.
All these is very individual.
I think it is a question for dermatologist in every particular case. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/smile3.gif

(I could not resist that!)

Either Coast or Irish Spring Icy Blast soap.
Since I have oily hair, Selsun Blue Medicated and Head and Shoulders oily blend

Then a lot depends of personal odour preferences and further coexisting with the perfume to be used.

Balu, no need to complicate it. Just a simple list of what you most like to use is all I'm suggesting.

Sorry,
But I was sure that such things as skin state, water hardness and smell preferences are to be the determining factors for a choice. Otherwise it will be a waste of money and even can cause a hazardous effect.
Well, I will no longer be boring. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/blush2.gif

Ivory Soap

Works from head to toes :salute:

Totally agree with this. I have never used anything but the original Ivory Soap.
I have never used soap or shower gels because they dry my skin.
Always unscented because of allergy problems.

Non-working days just hot waters grand, on working days I've stuck with using a smoothie from Lush for about 2 years now.

I use Dove, Ivory or Irish Spring soap. My wife buys the more expensive, specialized stuff and keeps changing brands about every 7 or 8 months.
Shampoo, I use whatever she buys for herself unless its the more specialized and higher priced stuff.
If that, I buy Head And Shoulders, because I want my shoulders to be right in tune with my head. ;)--Tyr

Abbey takes an annual shower?:laugh2:

I use antibacterial soap. When you are trapped in close quarters in tropical places a lot, it just became habit. Smelly soap is out. If I so much as walk by a Bath and Body Works I start sneezing my head off.

I like ivory cause it floats :).

I like how cheap ivory is, like $4 for 10 bars I believe.

For shampoo, I use suave or whatever cheap brand I can find.

So, it looks like men still like to use bar soap. Most women I know like shower gel. I sure do. Mine has a pump, so I don't even have to pick it up to use it. I always feel like bar soap attracts "stuff", and needs to be cleaned.

I am a runner and use Zest Fruitboost Shower Gel. I come in pretty smelly after a long run and this stuff not only does and good job of getting you clean but the scents available are soothing. (https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/zest-fruitboost-shower-gel-citrus-splash/ID=prod6322028-product)

I don't know what "men" use except in the field or on board, you don't have a lot of room for a bunch of useless junk. Bar of soap in a baggy and you're good to go.

In addition, when you're stuxk in berthing or a squad by with a bunch of slobs, you need the antibacterial crap. Unless you have a yen for every disease in the universe.

But yes, I use a bar of soap and a washrag that will actually clean you.

I always use a washcloth / washrag except when I was on the ship. No place to hang it to dry.

Nah. Would make my head shine. A no-no. Should try camying up for the field with a shaved head though. I require a LOT more makeup.

The second depends on the size of the ship. Two clothespins and a locker will dry your rag. Ain't the best of situations but it works. In the field you just go with the hand wash. It's a pain but you have to do it. Hit the hot spots. Underarms and crotch and backside. You don't want to go down in the field over crap like that and I've watched plenty of dumbasses do it. Not changing their socks or swapping out their cammies. They get themselves and everyone else sick. In tropical climates you will literally rot your junk off doing that.

FYI, that's why I loved my steel pot and hated that stupid kevlar POS. You could bathe in it, shave. eat out of it, sit on it ,,, That plastic POS is worthless. I wouldn't even wear mine unless I had to. I wore a camo bandana most of the time. You have to wear the helmet for takeoff and landing.

A bar of soap is preferable. In case of necessity you are able to temporary repair a leaky car fuel tank. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/blush2.gif

I've been using a shower gel called 'Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Body Wash with Frankincense and Myrrh'. It's what Mary and Joseph used to wash Baby Jesus so He didn't get diaper rash. "Cleanliness is next to godliness" as they say. It's sold in the cosmetics aisle at Walmart and it's fabulous. They also have African Black Soap that makes you smell like a big banana, it really smells great, but it's not an everyday soap.

That it does!
It attracts men that think pump soap is for sissies!
Men that maybe once used a brillo pad and white ash from the fireplace to scrub away the grim from each hard day's work on the farm(often 16/17 hour days).
Myself, I thank God for the luxury of bar soap now, as that brillo pad crap, was tough to handle!--;)--Tyr

gabby. Jim would never do that to her. But take a look in the corner of your bathroom, over the medicine cabinet. See that little dot to the right? This is what we see when you are taking a shower....

What I'm seeing here is not necessarily men vs women. Sorry, but I ain't humping anything I don't need. When that ALICE pack has what you need in it, it's heavy enough. Add a flak jacket helmet and humping a weapon, I got no room for tooty-fruity. My idea of "pampering" myself was getting up before everyone else and make some good old C-Rat/MRE coffee in my canteen cup. Then you dump the canteen cup, rinse and shave out of it. Then you rinse and make more coffee.

I laugh/am incredulous at the crap civilians think they need. And it is not criticism; rather, observation. What was that little twep clerk's name in Saving Private Ryan? He thenks he's going into the field with a typewriter and Tom Hanks holds up a pencil. You ain't humping that damned thing. A squirt bottle that takes up space in your pack? Non-happening event.

Not an observation. A reality. I'm actually a total clean/neat freak. You live in cramped quarters if one person gets sick, so does everyone else. More casualties go down due to sickness than combat.
