Only a few more days before reality comes crashing down on many, even including some of the elites and intellectuals. Either that, or maybe a war about to start? Who knows :) :)
I have to wonder what's next. If the electors still place Trump over the top, then what is next? Hopefully the inauguration!
-----
Harvard Law Professor: Up to 20 Republican Electoral College Members Will Vote Against Trump
The founder of the Electors Trust charity Larry Lessig has claimed that up to 20 GOP affiliated electoral college voters plan on voting against Donald Trump in an attempt to block his confirmation as president.
Lessig, who is also a Harvard Law professor, told POLITICO that “whether an elector ultimately votes his or her conscience will depend in part upon whether there are enough doing the same.”
“We now believe there are more than half the number needed to change the result seriously considering making that vote,” he continued.
Lessig founded and runs the anti-Trump ‘Electors Trust,’ which provides “provides free and strictly confidential legal support to any Elector who wishes to vote their conscience.”
The professor’s claims go against reports from the Republican Whip Operation, designed to keep Republican members of the electoral college loyal to Trump, that only Texas elector Chris Suprun plans on defying this instruction.
In an op-ed in the New York Times, Suprun said he would not cast his vote for Trump as he “lacks the foreign policy experience and demeanour needed to be commander in chief,” adding that “electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country.”

If (and that is a very big if) the electoral college fails to act in the manner it was intended and caves into the political pornographers selling their snake oil, I will never EVER vote again. They will have undermined and destroyed this Democratic Republic in a way that none of our foreign enemies ever could.

Read another article, they hooting and hollering about how over 50 democrat electors want an intel briefing before they vote.
Ummmm, 'democrat electors'. They're going to vote Dem already anyway.

Isn't this the manner in which it was intended?

Partially. We shall see how it plays out. I am quite certain that the electoral process was NOT intended to favor one political faction over another simply because one party lost the election. I can only hope that intelligent, reasonable folks with a great amount of integrity are appointed to fill those seats. At this point, I am not confident that is true.
Further, if the electoral college does, in fact, confirm Trump as POTUS, will the left accept their decision? I think not. I anticipate that if they (the electoral college) do not cave into the pressure from the left, that bunch will immediately begin denigrating the people and the process perhaps to the point where they seek means to overturn the decision (legal or otherwise).

Even if partially that is the reason it was intended. And I haven't seen much if any indication that the Republican electors that won't cast their vote for trump would actually vote for hrc which begs the question that if they're really bending to the other side? I think the answer to that is that they aren't.
When they do actually confirm trump as POTUS that they won't change their position but they will have less to talk about; this is just an extension of the election news cycle that is sideshow and will go away in lieu of some other whine. Besides, many people don't/didn't really accept BO either trump among them with the whole birther thing; what comes around goes around.

I have no doubt that much of this is an effort by the media. The whole thing will be twisted and spun by the media so they can proclaim their predictions were correct from the beginning. All this in an attempt to establish credibility which they lost over the last year or so.

They follow the story, and magnify it, just like they followed, and magnified, trump IMO.

Trump and HRC both. The heir to the throne (aka, Princess Hillary) was not crowned as they predicted and the MSM absolutely cannot stand that fact. Yes, they magnified and distorted Trumps flaws while magnifying and spinning HRC's shining character. Bernie was the comedic relief and not take seriously by MSM and many others.

I'm not getting this whole "do-over" BS. Since when was that an option? If it is an option, I got a date with the 1960s.

You would have made an awful and terrifying hippy.
Let's assume that the majority will vote for Clinton. There is a question - Is it so good that so much people have so much guns at their disposal? A person who feels been betrayed often happens become nervous.

They should resign from their legal and Constitutional position and be
replaced by someone who honors our 14th Amendment.
I'd say the same thing if the tables were reversed.

define irony. Or liar. As you choose. "My names Barry and I was raised in a middle class white family. Now I'm black for political convenience. Fprget all those other Amendments. They don't count. I'm now black. "

I am more concerned with the destruction of our laws and morals. Obama is a symptom not the disease. The harbinger of things to come.

Electoral College..My mistake: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_College_(United_States)
The Twelfth Amendment requires each elector to cast one vote for president and another vote for vice president.[4][5] In each state and the District of Columbia, electors are chosen every four years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, and then meet to cast ballots on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December.[6] The candidates who receive an absolute majority of electoral votes among the states are elected President and Vice President of the United States when the Electoral College vote is certified by Congress in January.

I am not a fan of the electoral college. However, it IS a check and balance. As I was told when a young puppy jarhead, "Don't come running to me with your problem without bringing a solution". I don't have one for this. People complain their butts off over it ... come up with a better plan. And I don't mean some sore loser, whiny shit, after the fact plan. We've had a process to change the rules for over 2 centuries.
Not for nothing as an aside ... the left seems to think the rules apply only when convenient and/or to everyone but them. Clinton and his line item veto/Obama's signing statements come immediately to mind. Too bad the GOP doesn't have the nads to return fire.

INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY: It’s Official: Clinton’s Popular Vote Win Came Entirely From California. (http://www.investors.com/politics/commentary/its-official-clintons-popular-vote-win-came-entirely-from-california/)
Democrats who are having trouble getting out of the first stage of grief — denial — aren’t being helped by the fact that, now that all the votes are counted, Hillary Clinton’s lead in the popular vote has topped 2.8 million, giving her a 48% share of the vote compared with Trumps 46%.
To those unschooled in how the United States selects presidents, this seems totally unfair. But look more closely at the numbers and you see that Clinton’s advantage all but disappears.
As we noted in this space earlier, while Clinton’s overall margin looks large and impressive, it is due to Clinton’s huge margin of victory in one state — California — where she got a whopping 4.3 million more votes than Trump.
California is the only state, in fact, where Clinton’s margin of victory was bigger than President Obama’s in 2012 — 61.5% vs. Obama’s 60%.
But California is the exception that proves the true genius of the Electoral College — which was designed to prevent regional candidates from dominating national elections.
In recent years, California has been turning into what amounts to a one-party state. Between 2008 and 2016, the number of Californian’s who registered as Democrats climbed by 1.1 million, while the number of registered Republicans dropped by almost 400,000.
What’s more, many Republicans in the state had nobody to vote for in November.
There were two Democrats — and zero Republicans — running to replace Sen. Barbara Boxer. There were no Republicans on the ballot for House seats in nine of California’s congressional districts.
At the state level, six districts had no Republicans running for the state senate, and 16 districts had no Republicans running for state assembly seats.
Plus, since Republicans knew Clinton was going to win the state — and its entire 55 electoral votes — casting a ballot for Trump was virtually meaningless, since no matter what her margin of victory, Clinton was getting all 55 votes.
I think California needs to be divided into several states. For fairness.

So the anger from the majority of the liberals is aimed at the electoral college, which is now antiquated, and that she won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. And she won La La Land by 4.3 million votes? So we should have goofy La La Hollywood land to decide what's best for the rest of the country? Because that's exactly what would be doing done if they decided this year by the popular vote instead of the electoral college. I don't think so.
