On Tuesday, disgruntled Democrats held a forum to discuss the possibility of replacing the Electoral College.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) conceded that Democrats could not get rid of the Electoral College due to the way the United States Constitution is written.

“I don’t think we can sustain our American democracy by having the majority ruled by the minority. And so the question is how to fix this since the Constitution is written in such a way that it’s almost impossible to amend,” Lofgren said.

Lofgren went on to say she is open to a Constitutional Convention, “We are three states away from calling for a Constitutional Convention. It’s something I’ve always been opposed to, …. But I’ll say because, for the second time in sixteen years, people the American voters elected did not become president. Rational people, not the fringe, are now talking about whether states could be separated from the U.S., whether we should have a Constitutional Convention. And I think as time goes on that is apt to become more the case unless we here can figure an answer to preventing the majority from being ruled by the minority.

I disagree with her on one point, and agree on another.

Leave the constitution alone, no convention.

Let the people from Hollywood decide to allow California to secede from the Union.

And, as a requirement. The Separated, Former State of CA. Will have to beg Washington for FOREIGN AID, every year, and be limited from any votes that apply to the other 49 States of the Union.

P.S. NO NEW AMERICAN FLAGS WITH 49 STARS CAN BE MADE IN CA. MADE IN THE USA MUST BE THE RULE!

Calling a Constitutional Convention for the purpose of abolishing the electoral college has nothing to do with "leaving the union." That is secession.
As long as Republicans control the house, amending the constitution is a non-starter.

Disgruntled Democrats Want A Constitutional Convention To Leave The Union

Disgruntled Democrats want all kinds of silly and unworkable things. Always have.

But we just kicked them out of the White House and nearly every majority in Federal and State governments.

Why are we paying any further attention to them?

Little-Acorn. It's the constant, Entertainment values they bring from their endless whining, crying, and experiencing what THEY DISHED OUT for the last 8 years to all of us. "What goes around, comes around" comes to mind.
Some would call it gloating. I call it...
"Ding Dong...The Witch is Dead...NANCY PELOSI style!"

The Supreme Court ruled in 1868 (Tx v. White) that states do not have a Right to secede. Whether or not I agree with it is beside the point. It's a legal ruling. End of story.

Want to leave? Pack your seabag and go. I won't miss you.

Face it.

They do not want a democracy...They want a socialist country (is that a plutocratic...someone help me here),
where what our Constitution reads, is of no meaning to them that seek power.

Where does this wrinkled moonbat represent?

Ohh...San Fran Bay District. That explains a lot.

What I'm laughing at is a bunch of whiny bitches talking shit? What are they going to do? Drown us in their tears? This crybaby crap has gone on long enough. They need to give it a rest.

And according to them, us rednecks own all the guns. Fancy that.

What does any of this have to do with someone wanting to introduce legislation to get rid of the electoral college.

Let's suppose Hillary won the electoral college, but Trump ended up receiving 2.5 million more votes. Guess who would still be yelling about voter fraud and rigged elections?

Do you suppose these nutcases even know that a Constitutional Convention can't change the Constitution?

Anything a CC passes, must be ratified by 3/4 of the states. Or else it goes in the trash can.

It's all theater... faux outrage, indignation and self righteousness for the peasants....

That's the beauty of this whole kneejerk. Know how long it takes to get an Amendment passed? We'll all be dead. These clowns act like there's some instant gratification coming. The law is purposefully written to avoid just that.

And back atcha Gabs ... did anyone's whining get Curious George out of office? He's the most unqualified President ever. He sucks at everything he does. If there's a wrong way to do it, he's right on top of it. Which enemy of the US has he not kissed ass to?

We got stuck. So when it's your damned turn in the chute ... deal with it.

Gunny. And I still haven't given up on all of those Hollyweird Liars who said they WOULD LEAVE THE COUNTRY if Trump won.

Sounds almost identical to the OBAMA claims of HOPE & CHANGE. And we all know how that worked out. Can't forget Madonna promising to give everybody a BJ if they voted for Hillary. CALL ROTO-ROTER, and away goes Madonna DOWN on......

It's all just noise from those who believe that their opinion "really" matters in things.

They put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do.

Their problem is they are still in Pampers or Pull-ups.

I suppose she's ignoring that hrc didn't get a majority either and that the Republicans in the House did outpoll the Dems.

But they should build a coalition with other states that desire to reign in the power of the Federal over the States.

Seems that suddenly some are finding reasons to embrace federalism. Others? Not so much.
