Both Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin criticized the president-elect on Friday, following months of staunchly supporting his election.
“Sounds like the big sell-out is coming. Oh well. The voters did what we could,” Coulter tweeted Friday. “If Trump sells out, it’s not our fault.”
Palin is mad about Trump’s plan to keep air conditioning plant Carrier in the United States by giving the company a multimillion-dollar tax incentive.
“When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent,” the former Alaska governor wrote in an op-ed on the website Young Conservatives.

As Coulter and Palin point out the incentives are out of line with capitalism and more like crony capitalism. However IMO the working with the parent company's other gov't contracts is less problematic.
But Trump's in diffuclt postion. dang if he does dang if he doesn't. But i suspect the ...as with most other principles of the right lately... the idea of REAL capitalism without gov't pressures and kick-backs will be kicked to the curb by those that deem it "practical" for gov't to control/cajole/paidoff businesses to SAVE AMERICAN JOBS:salute:.
Anyone who wants to promote principles is just being IDEALISTIC and out of touch with reality, 'we can NEVER do it that way'. 'Are you a businessman?!'
But Frankly I suspect if Palin, Coulter or most other R or D had jobs at Carrier they wouldn't be complaining much.
(unless Obama did it instead of Trump)

this kind of thing was brought up re the Auto bailouts. A bad precedent is set. The auto kingpins can be as reckless as they want to be because they have a safety net: The taxpayer. Too big to fail. Semirelated: I am a firm believer in CEOs being paid in stock options.

Trump made an awesome deal for someone who isn't even in office. Palin and others are free to disagree. Won't be the first time I disagree with either of those 2, but I still love both! Trump is going to be different than what we are accustomed to, no matter the rants. And some will say "it's the same old same old". Sure, we have a president that was willing to sit back and do nothing, and now we have a citizen that negotiated a deal to keep jobs here.
+ Jobs
+ paychecks
+ money in the economy
No matter how you slice it, it's a good deal for the extremely low price tag. These folks were long gone, but not the same anymore. And while some complain - explain why thew dems, republicans and the president were just willing to let it happen?
I honestly don't care, they are positives no matter how you slice it. Some will condemn Trump if he caught a baby falling from a burning building.

It is a deal that benefited the company more than the workers. It was a small concession in the VP-elect's home state.
What happens when other, larger companies seek the same type of deal?

gabby. For someone like you who constantly claims to be so much smarter than everyone else here. Perhaps the joke's on you. Companies, Businesses, and Corporations are in business, with employee's, products, services, and factories to MAKE MONEY.
The only concession here is that you are such a totally UNINFORMED liberal who would blame someone for charging you to Borrow Money...for nothing.

Interesting. How about the House Minority Leader who's got her hubby's fishing business rolling in the clover? No concessions there, right?

Sure, the workers didn't benefit - now they don't have to uproot their lives and go to Mexico. And what did you expect, a million per year per worker and 1k for the company? Of course the company always makes more than the worker. But like I said, they get to keep their jobs, their homes & location, their salaries and everything else.
And the company benefits. And now you're saying the state benefits too. Wow, wins for everyone!

There are more non-American posters here than just us two, Noir. We provide something of a spectrum of views. The point is that our viewpoints are taken, I believe, on their own merits.
As to what those merits 'are' ... well, that's something else.
Noir, though you don't choose to realise it ... and probably never will ... you suffer from two handicaps when you post here.
One is that you'll be getting your views on America from the filter of news and opinion as it's arrived at, and broadcast, HERE in the UK. And we can't possibly be nearly as expert, properly versed, in American issues as the Americans themselves are.
We have our psychology, Noir, and it's one borne of the society we live in. That is a DIFFERENT society to the US one.
The other handicap (and boy, it's a truly crippling one !!) is that you approach everything with a Leftie mindset. This by its nature will be propagandist, deeply judgmental, contemptuous of views not serving any Left wing agenda. Such a mindset blinds you to other realities and attitudes. You are, because of your handicaps, not only blind to other views AND what underpins them, but somehow you arrogantly assume that YOU must always be RIGHT.
In reality, all you offer is an alternative way of thinking, Noir. That it exists, does not of itself prove a thing as to its real worth.
If I had a piece of advice for you, I'd say this ... GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE. Be receptive to others. Understand other people not in your own ridiculously blinkered terms, but IN THEIRS.
And whether you like it or not ... I view American society as superior to ours in a number of ways. Their patriotism, for one. Their spirit of striving for betterment, for another. The value of the individual. These are qualities we're in danger of completely losing over here.
Noir - it is not you who has things to teach the Americans. Rather, I believe that it's Americans who have a lot to teach us.
Find some respect, Noir, for decent and forward-looking people. Approach this board with an open - NOT A BLINKERED - mind.

Insult away, BD. Until he rids himself of his stupid judgmentality, he earns it, in my view.
He's a Left winger who judges those who aren't with some degree of contempt. Since that's true, I've no time for him.

Really ?? Then I'm baffled. If you were watching UK output and being influenced by it, that could explain something of your contributions here. I still think that you will receive influence from those around you, in UK society, though, regardless.
What you've done is to make your attitude here that much LESS explainable. Unless ... you're totally brainwashed by Leftie chums, maybe ?
I don't know. I don't much care, to be honest. If in fact you ARE as much in tune with American opinion and their news as you claim to be, then ... you should know better.
Why DON'T you ?

Because that's what I'll get if I turn on my TV ?
Anyone wanting quick access to news or current events will turn on their TV or radio to check it out. Since I'm in the UK, I'll get UK output !
As for 'wanting' to, I'll be delighted if US stations (e.g Fox News) appeared in my Freeview lineup. But they basically don't. Al Jazeera ... sure ... that's available on any UK televised media platform you care to mention .... Al J make sure of it !
Here's the point. I know the nature of the BBC's biases, so I'll never be influenced by them. So it doesn't really matter whether I watch their stuff or not. YOU, however, give the impression of being completely in tune with them.
And if you're not in tune with American opinion ... considering what you claim for yourself, why aren't you ?
Does your Leftieism rule you ?

Are you attempting to indulge in pedantry ? Because, this is what you've already said ...
I dont remeber ever claiming I was '"much in tune with American opinion" etc
It's interesting in its way. On the one hand, you've suggested that you don't rely on British media for your views. On the other, by implication you also resist the idea of claiming you were, or are, 'much in tune with American opinion'. So what am I to conclude from this ? That you're so completely set in your somewhat isolated opinions that you prefer not to be swayed by anything at all ?
I suppose it figures. As a committed Leftie, you cannot let anything intrude upon the beliefs and viewpoints that go to making you one. Apparently you also take this a stage further and get all judgmental against others when they have opinions you don't CHOOSE to share. Well ... the truly 'informed, enlightened' individual is, I suggest, one who meets reality fairly and squarely, and adapts to it accordingly. We're not hung up on invented Utopianist dogma which has no relation to the real world.
Am I describing a CONSERVATIVE ? I happen to believe that I am.
Little wonder, therefore, that you don't understand or relate to what it is I'm talking about. Which is your loss, my son.
