Sanders tries to imply that Trump lied about taxes and Carrier going to Mexico. Of course what Trump REALLY said, was talking about hitting them in their wallets if they stayed in Mexico, or moved to Mexico. Instead, he negotiated a deal to get them to remain, so hitting them for moving to Mexico never happened.

The Carrier deal shows what Donald Trump understands about the politics of jobs

Donald Trump's deal to keep 800 Carrier workers in Indiana is not a broad-spectrum jobs policy — though if the $7 million, 10-year price tag reported by The Wall Street Journal summarizes the deal's full fiscal cost, it looks like it may have been a pretty good value, at just $875 per year per job not moved to Mexico.

But the narrow deal also reflects something Trump understands about the broad politics of jobs that few national politicians in either party have managed to grasp.

Over the last couple of decades, wage growth has lagged behind economic growth, and participation in the labor force has declined. These are our core economic challenges.

In that environment, Trump has focused much of his economic messaging on one correct core idea: What most people want is to be able to comfortably support themselves and their families with the income from a job that pays steadily rising wages. And he'll work hard to make that goal a reality for more Americans — including by bullying and bribing companies into keeping jobs in America.

The idea that good-paying jobs are the central goal of economic policy may sound uncontroversial, even trite — but it's a significant departure from standard Republican and Democratic messaging on the economy.

Sanders: Carrier Tax-Breaks Deal Should 'Send a Shock Wave of Fear' Through U.S. Workers

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) wrote in the Washington Post today that workers aside from the 1,000 Carrier employees whose jobs were saved due to a deal cut by President-elect Donald Trump "should be very nervous."

The air conditioning and heating company announced in February that it would move over a three-year period more than 2,000 jobs from an Indiana plant and distribution facility to Monterrey, Mexico, as a cost-cutting measure.

Carrier said in a statement Wednesday that the company "negotiated an agreement with the incoming administration that we believe benefits our workers, the state of Indiana and our company."

The company said it "will continue to manufacture gas furnaces in Indianapolis, in addition to retaining engineering and headquarters staff," stressing "the incentives offered by the state were an important consideration." The Wall Street Journal reported that Carrier will reap $7 million in tax breaks over 10 years in the deal.

Trump and Gov. Mike Pence were headed to the Carrier plant today to celebrate the agreement.

"This is about the president-elect and vice president-elect making good on their promise to go to bat for American workers, which they're doing so even before they're actually sworn in and become the president and vice president," spokesman Jason Miller told reporters on a conference call today. "That's really what this deal is about."

In his op-ed, Sanders argued that "instead of a damn tax" -- words Trump used on the campaign trail to describe how he wanted to punish Carrier -- "the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut."

"Wow! How’s that for standing up to corporate greed? How’s that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad? In essence, United Technologies took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country," Sanders wrote.

This must really eat Sanders and will affect his candidacy in 2020 when he's 104 years old.

Shut up, Bernie, you crusty old commie bastard. You lost to Hillary which is next to impossible.

Well, in Bernie's defense, they stole the primaries from him. But you barely hear a peep about it, because Democrats don't care. They thought stealing it from him was a grand idea, as Hillary was in online for her anointed position and she was ready to drop the smack on Trump.

Killery did a hell of a lot better in the General than Bernie would have. There's no chance in hell of him winning a general election - his support is exclusive to the welfare crowd & commies. And the free-everything college kids, of course.

But, yeah... I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the rampant backstabbing and sabotage being engaged in by every faction of the Democratic Party. That spotlight provided by Assange was the silver spike in the heart of the DNC Beast.

That's ironic, considering when stories were coming out with the intent of harming Trump, and many R's spoke out against him - some started talking about how they were eating themselves from the inside on out.... they may not win office ever again, or at least for many years.... Seems like it was them actually. And now the R party is slowly regrouping and getting things back together.

Trump nominees map out plans for tax cuts, trade and Carrier-style negotiations

President-elect Donald Trump’s nascent administration on Wednesday began outlining the contours of its strategy for jump-starting the nation’s economy, including how it would overhaul the tax code, rethink trade agreements and directly negotiate with major corporations.

Treasury secretary nominee Steven Mnuchin rejected claims that Trump’s tax program would benefit mainly the wealthy, instead highlighting plans for a child-care tax credit and a middle-class tax cut.

“There will be no absolute tax cut for the upper class,” he said on CNBC. “There will be a big tax cut for the middle class.”

Trump’s strategy secured an early victory this week when the president-elect persuaded air-conditioning manufacturer Carrier not to move up to 1,000 jobs from Indiana to Mexico. The negotiation was an unusual move for a modern president, but Mnuchin suggested such direct intervention would be an important tool under the new administration.

“It starts with an attitude of this administration,” Mnuchin said Wednesday on CNBC. “This president, this vice president-elect is going to have open communications with business leaders.”

They'd better get things done or there will be hell to pay.

I want a stack of papers sitting on the President's desk waiting to be signed on the morning of Jan 20th.

I do hope some of the Trump people have heard, or will listen to Miller.
He may be a comedian some like, and others dislike. Yet, his words should be REQUIRED listening/reading for everyone.

Dennis Miller is brilliant!

And, yes... Pelosi does sleep upside down! I love the bit about her powering up her Twitch to full throttle.

Mmmhmmm. We'll see what Carrier does when they get a ball breaking tax added to those Mexican imports.

None of this should be 'news,' at best it's a rerun of what happened when some jobs were saved here. Here's an article from the time, from IN. Note the date:
