“The NRCC would like to offer its full support to the embattled former Speaker of the House,” the House Republicans’ campaign arm wrote.
“Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats squandered their majority by forcing through unpopular legislation like Obamacare,” the NRCC continued. “After her party’s devastating 63 seat loss in the ensuing 2010 election, Pelosi miraculously maintained her spot as Democratic leader, which, predictably, led to the largest Republican majority since the 1920s.”
Mrs. Pelosi was formally challenged Thursday for her leadership post by Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, who said the party needs new leadership after a series of disappointing election results that have kept Democrats in the minority since the 2010 Tea Party wave.
