As part of a wide-ranging interview with 60 Minutes, Trump stated that he was not going to oppose same sex marriage because the issue is "already settled."
Trump also stated that he will appoint Supreme Court justices who oppose abortion rights. Trouble is, that issue is also "already settled." Since the SCOTUS has always based its ruling on legal precedents, they would have trouble overturning a law (Roe vs. Wade) that has already survived several challenges.
Even then, Trump favors sending abortion rights laws back to the states. Meaning that it could end up being legal in some states and illegal in others.

For anyone that paid attention to the debates and his interviews, this isn't news.

I know I've said this on the board- I've never thought he was socially conservative.

Thank you for your honesty. :)
He's spoken out several times, and I disagree with him to an extent. I know he spoke out against the law in NC and the bathrooms. I know he spoke out in favor of many gays getting married, and congratulating them. They say he is very "gay friendly". I also believe he prefers to send things to the states.
I think folks know my stance on this issue, but I can't imagine things being somehow reversed and going backwards anyway.

That can't be 'thrown back' to the states. I do think perhaps the persecution of Christians who do not want to be forced to participate in something they think sinful or lose their life savings will be stopped. That is one thing that will happen if Trump actually appoints conservative judge.
I'm quite aware of what he's been for and against. I've said from the beginning he's not conservative-not regarding most social issues, nor on government.

I knew that Trump was gay friendly. Trump has also supported women's reproductive rights in the past. I was interested in how he would come on these issues now that he has been elected.
Unfortunately we see Overton Window is in action. The same sex marriage is unnatural and considered by all the religions (the basis of legislation indeed) as a sin. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/sad.gif
Here in Russia we are trying to resist this tendency.

What he thinks on individual issues will be moot unless he asks his nominees specifically which I doubt he'll do if he stays with his outsourcing of SCOTUS picks to Heritage.

Not all religions are on the same page and not all within some religions are on the same page. Nevertheless we don't really base legislation on religious considerations anymore anyway.

So what he's saying is that he supports law.
Trump also stated that he will appoint Supreme Court justices who oppose abortion rights. Trouble is, that issue is also "already settled." Ergo, no problems for the leftists

WOW, you mean to say that he believes that the "People" should have the power to control their lives? I'll bet THAT scares the bejabbers out of the left.

OCA should be very happy with his stance on this one at least. Hope for the future for him and his boyfriend.

Per the 10th amendment, that is the way it should have been all along.
Roe vs Wade did not make abortion legal, it forced all states to make it legal. New York and California had legalized abortion in 1970, three years before Roe vs Wade.

Really?
What would you say about the commandment Thou shalt not kill? http://s19.rimg.info/aee19e2775457d135efdf745e7d94e15.gif (http://smayliki.ru/smilie-1224821991.html)

10th amendment. You so funny. The most ignored of the whole BoR.

Yes, really. A religious stricture of course but religion is not the only reason we have laws against murder.

If you followed my idea I had been spoken about the roots of legislation in the world. Should we look deeper into Ages it becomes evident that Religion and national traditions are in the basis of Laws. That's why the legislation differs from country to country. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/friends.gif

I didn't say that there wasn't overlap. Perhaps you missed a key word.
Not all religions are on the same page and not all within some religions are on the same page. Nevertheless we don't really base legislation on religious considerations anymore anyway.

What's being overlooked here is the obvious -- Gabby turning one think into another. Who Trump chooses as Supreme Court nominees and his personal stance on abortion are not utually inclusive; rather, they are separate issues unless HE states otherwise.
