Not quite accurate. People live on that land and get quite screwed on votes based on population. The people that live in the blue areas are coincidentally the same ones crying like bitches. All the overcrowded cities filled with sewer rats looking for something free or to steal. Beside, IIRC the EC was more of a large state vs. small state thing. Hamilton mentioned those who "possess information and discernment," which doesn't seem to carry the same weight as 200+ years ago.
I would find it difficult to proclaim Trump's win as a "mandate" especially given the political climate of this country where many perceive their vote as AGAINST the opposition candidate rather than a vote FOR a particular candidate.

I'm sorry that you're reading more into my posts that is there but no, the mandate is muddled at best. A SCOTUS justice is not evidence of a mandate it's an effect that trump will get to nominate the next justice but I agree it was a huge concern for many who voted. Most of the mandate here is that he was the least, most-disliked of the two options given his lack of a majority and his lack of even the popular vote. The Republicans picking up three governorships is more impressive to me.

No, as Kathianne pointed out a filibuster proof majority is no longer a SCOTUS requirement. He may not get his first choice but that's a different issue.
