Philippine leader tells Obama 'go to hell', says can buy arms from Russia, China

Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday told U.S. President Barack Obama to "go to hell" and said the United States had refused to sell some weapons to his country but he did not care because Russia and China were willing suppliers.

In his latest salvo, Duterte said he was realigning his foreign policy because the United States had failed the Philippines and added that at some point, "I will break up with America". It was not clear what he meant by "break up".

During three tangential and fiercely worded speeches in Manila, Duterte said the United States did not want to sell missiles and other weapons, but Russia and China had told him they could provide them easily.

"Although it may sound shit to you, it is my sacred duty to keep the integrity of this republic and the people healthy," Duterte said.

Duterte said the United States should have supported the Philippines in tackling its chronic drugs problems but that instead it had criticized him for the high death toll, as did the European Union.

"Instead of helping us, the first to hit was the State Department. So you can go to hell, Mr Obama, you can go to hell," he said.

Obama's response to Duterte? "Very snarky of you." lol j/k

Obama\Democrats are never gonna support harsh punishment against druggies as they depend on them for votes. Could a new leader have more diplomacy and get along with Duterte?

On the one hand, I like that Duterte tells Obama to go to hell, as that is where Obama is going anyway. But on the other hand, I have no feel for how this could spin out of control and the Philippines could become an ally to Russia and China.

I read that and had to scratch my head a bit. They voted for independence from the USA
many years back. Yet we were still pledged to assist them in all manners.

It is true Obama has undermined a lot of alliances, although this country was once
a possession of the USA. If Obama deserted them indeed, then this will be a part of
his fouled legacy.

Is this President in the Philippines a want-to-be Dictator or or wanting to right his ship?
Cleaning up gangs and drugs is not a bad thing, but the reporting is limited and quite
one-sided, not open minded - thanks to the MSN.

Seems to me that Duterte has a point. If Obama's proved to be a lousy ally (and I don't doubt it) .. then, his greater willingness to ally to China or Russia is understandable. Not to be preferred, of course, just understandable.

Perhaps Obama's replacement will treat that country better, and this can be reversed. Here's hoping ...

Obviously, the man is quite sick. You can tell from his statements, both before and after he was elected.
Duterte is not just going after drug dealers and users. He is going after "drug types." Which is whatever he wants it to be.
If you read the Philippines media, you see where Duterte is going down the Hitler road of asking people to report on their neighbors. Which can be quite a slippery slope.

ALL IN THE OBAMA PLAN= TURN JUST AS MANY FRIENDS/ALLIES/ PARTNERS AGAINST US AS HE CAN..
The more turned away from us-the weaker we become...
Its no mere coincidence that he start his first term that way has continued on ever since..--Tyr

Now what are the odds that we would write the same exact thing? I had to go look it up...and you are right!

I suppose every thing I write has been written by someone else at an earlier time.

Vigilante justice will turn on other agendas when drug sellers and users run out.

I'm sure some will remember when the US Navy was thrown out of Subic Bay ~20 years ago and now they want the US Navy back in a semi permanent basis as of last year to protect them from China. I guess that was Obama's fault too.

The Philippines present quite a quandary for the US regardless of which US administration is power. Like many other nations, they want the protection and funding that the US provides but do not want ANY US presence on their home soil. While an alliance with Russia or China would certainly change the dynamics along the Pacific rim, I suspect that the Philippines would soon find that such an alliance would be less than beneficial for them. Japan is still a HUGE influence in that part of the world and I doubt seriously that they would view such an alliance very kindly.

I have found it's best to ignore self-hating women. Anyone that has to make lists of 'any good men' has a bit of a problem.
