I won't ignore things like this. All of the aggregate polls since the beginning have placed Hillary in the lead, and a large lead at times. The electoral hasn't been discussed much. Unfortunately, Clinton has been on a large lead on this from the beginning as well. And of course this means more than votes themselves and the popular vote. Sad. :(

Earlier this week, the Washington Post partnered with Survey Monkey in an ambitious, if potentially fatally flawed, attempt to conduct a 50-state poll. Morning Consult released the third iteration of its own version this morning, with results that match up more closely with other polling at the national and state level. It provides fewer surprises, but does indicate that Hillary Clinton hasn’t clinched the race over Donald Trump — not yet, anyway:
Hillary Clinton would top Donald Trump 321-195 in electoral votes to clinch the White House if the election were held today, according to an extensive Morning Consult analysis of registered voters.
But the 2016 presidential race is far from over. The leading candidate is within the margin of error in nine states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. When those states are removed from the count, the former secretary of State garners 258 electoral votes to the New York businessman’s 164.
The analysis is the third time Morning Consult has provided a complete look at the electoral college map. Voter sentiment has shifted in a number of key states since our last survey, which was released just before the political conventions. Our analysis also provides a snapshot into how Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein would affect the Electoral College count for Clinton and Trump.

Electoral votes must be done away with..
For this is a clear example of the failure of this entity...
That this piece of shit named Hillary can be so formidable an opponent at this stage even with her unpopularity, past deeds and all of her
currently known negatives.
If she wins and gets 8 years this nation will fall- mark my words!--Tyr

I kind of like the Constitution but I suppose you thought similar 16 years ago and were wishing for Gore to be POTUS?
And no, she isn't formidable. Her opponent sucks.

It always strikes me strange when those in a minority position argue against the electoral college. It's like they don't get how it works.

Many of us are well aware of just how it works. And that it serves the interests of the power of Washington over that of WE the People...
It served it purpose well over a century ago -back when the populace by and large could not read and write.
The Framers could not and did not trust the popular vote because of the ignorance of the populace.
Could be argued that he populace is woefully ignorant today but not due to the majority being unable to read and write.
Rather instead due to media, propaganda and other assorted causes.
Now that we are at crisis point -- this preset advantage the dems have due to the Electoral College is a danger to the future of this nation IMHO.
MY FRIEND, SOME OF US WERE EDUCATED BEFORE THE AMERICAN PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM FELL INTO THE CRAPPER.
SOME OF US LOVE HISTORY AND HAVE SPENT OVER 50 YEARS STUDYING IT AS A HOBBY.
Myself, I get exactly how it works...
I also see the negatives of it as well.
As they say, nothing is perfect and only Christ can not be corrupted.....
If the obama agenda and its deliberate goal of destroying this nation is not reversed--we ALL shall regret the day that the em party and socialist media gained control to bring about the end.
Russia and China's power is rising at an even greater rate than ours is falling.
Neither one bids good for our future.
History repeats itself, I am sure you know that....
Every great empire fell because of decay from within....----Tyr

Kathianne. THEY DON'T GET, KNOW, or UNDERSTAND how it works. How can they when a huge percentage of Americans...from both political parties, and leanings Don't know the name of the V.P. or their Senators?
American schools have degraded, and you should know it too!
Facts are. Our American nation, and 90% of our people....Know Almost Nothing about Politics.

Reuters/Ipsos Poll: Trump Closes in on Clinton's Projected Electoral Lead
Republican Donald Trump appears to have carved out a wider path to the White House as a number of states including Florida and Ohio are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday.
The project, which combines opinion polls with an analysis of voting patterns under different election scenarios, still shows Clinton would have the best chance of winning the presidency if the Nov. 8 election were held today. Yet Trump has caught up to her level of support in several states.
Clinton now has an 83 percent chance of winning the election by an average of 47 votes in the Electoral College, the body that ultimately selects the president. In late August, the States of the Nation estimated that Clinton had a 95 percent chance of winning by an average of 108 electoral votes.
Over the past few weeks, Clinton's lead in the national polls has slipped considerably. Polls tend to narrow as Election Day nears, and the Clinton campaign has struggled to overcome controversy about how she handled classified information while serving as secretary of state.

It will only slip to a certain level and that level is out of reach for Trump.

That's possible, but I'm hoping not.

The electoral college was arrived at by the Founders over the popular vote to give smaller states a voice along with larger states. In a popular election system, candidates would be paying almost all their attention to California, Texas, Florida, and New York, the states withe largest populations.
Each state determines how their votes are counted. Most states have a 'winner takes all' system. That is where all the electors of a state are given to that candidate who gets the majority of the votes in that state. So, New York will cast all its electors to support that dog despite the fact I am voting against that swine

Tally up the closest swing states. Let's say Trump wins them all. He still loses. The Democrats have been working on this for fifty years and it is finally beginning to pay off.
