Venezuela’s collapse into poverty and starvation (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/05/24/venezuela-has-become-a-starvation-state.html), and the indifference to suffering shown by all the “progressives” who have supported that system, is no surprise. It would be a surprise if it weren’t happening, because that’s how socialism always works everywhere: the political elites live in luxury while the people starve.
Socialism is probably the worst political system ever. (There’s a lot of competition.) It has all the vices of absolute monarchy—the arrogance, the opulent excess, the oppression, the contempt for its powerless subjects—but with the extra insult of claiming to rule in the name of “the people.” The starry-eyed college kids who embrace it because they want to be “progressive” and “idealistic” might as well sign up for the Marie Antoinette Appreciation Society.

Socialism is just Communism with a smiley face. Don't look now....but do you have any idea how many elected officials are currently either card-carrying commies or admitted, hard-core socialists? Most of them on the DemocRat Party side. And many of them on the GOP side. It's positively scary....and surreal....

They have no idea that what they are helping to facilitate is a system where their is equally shared misery and poverty.....except for the few ruling elities in the commie party. Only those at the tops and their No. 1 henchmen live well under the system these mush-headed morons are pushing for. And the irony is....all they have to do is look to 'other' nations that are under communism to see just how 'well' the youth live there. It's insane, but that's the kind of world we live in now.
