It kind of boggles the mind ,the speed of technological advances over the last 150 years. This photo was taken in 1955.It is a picture of Florida's last living Civil War vet Bill Lundy.

Is that an F-101 Voodoo?
My Dad was a mechanic and crew chief on those in the late 50's
and early 60's.

Cool picture but um
OK somethings not adding up here can someone check my math.
so the Civil war ended in 1865.
let's say this Vet was 10 years old.... in 1865
that means in 1955 he'd be...

Just for shits and giggles let's assume he's 108,not out of the realm of possibility, that means he was born in 1847.he would have been 14 at the beginning of the Civil War,that is not impossible either.Even if he joined the war in 1865 he would have been 18....so,it's very possible. I did a Wiki search and got this...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Lundy

Don't know about this picture, but my husband's great great etc., ancestor fought in the Revolutiomary War at age 15. It wasn't that uncommon apparently.

I can't tell for sure. And I grew up in the USAF. I can't see the cockpit or the complete tail. IIRC correctly, the tail fins on the f-101 were up high. These aren't.

That'e what puzzled me. Definitely not an F-102, or even an F-4 or beyond either.
As I recall the gun mounts on the Voodoo were under the cockpit, such
as these are.
O.K...I googled images...it's not a Voodoo.
It is an F-100 Super Sabre, a bit older than a F-101.
I stand corrected!

Found that guy's wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Lundy
William Allen Lundy (January 18, 1859 – September 1, 1957) claimed to be one of the last living Confederate veterans of the American Civil War, having claimed to have served with the 4th Alabama Infantry from 1864-1865. His age is disputed and some records suggest he was born in 1859, not 1848. He claimed to be the last surviving Confederate soldier residing in Florida, and one of three (all Confederate) Civil War veterans still alive at the time in the United States. At the claimed age of 109, Private Lundy died at Crestview, Okaloosa County, on September 1, 1957. He is interred at Almarant Cemetery, Laurel Hill.
However, 1860 Census records suggest that Lundy was born in 1859, which would mean that he was only six years old at the end of the Civil War - implying that he could never have fought in it -, and 98 when he died.[4][5]
In addition, research in 2016 suggested that no evidence in favor of either Lundy or his father having served could be found.[
