A thread for your favorite one-hit wonders.

This 1974 song is in my all-time top five favorite songs.

Although the group Pilot had some other successful songs in the UK, they were a one-hit wonder here in America. Lead singer Billy Lyall died fifteen years after Magic. He was a homosexual and died of AIDS-related causes.

This song was written in part by English songwriter Tony Macaulay. Macaulay has other famous songs to his credit, including Build Me Up Buttercup (recorded by The Foundations) and (Last Night) I Didn't Get To Sleep At All (recorded by The 5th Dimension),

Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) was recorded essentially by studio musicians and singers. Edison Lighthouse was quickly formed to play the song on TV and to promote it.

Much too lazy to grab the videos for all of these. The first section is the 80's, because they were popular when I was in HS or just after graduation. The second group are the cool ones, some cool rock.

Nena - 99 Luftballons
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
Grover Washington - Just the 2 of us
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
Bill Medley - I've had the time of my life
Sheriff - When I'm with you

L.A. Guns - The Ballad Of Jayne
Faster Pussycat - House Of Pain
Steelheart - I’ll Never Let You Go
Kix - Don’t Close Your Eyes
Ugly Kid Joe - Everything About You

Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber & Miley Cyrus. I wish they were one hit wonders, or no hit wonders. :)

Oh now.... don't say that about Lady Gaga!!! :)

She has a couple of GREAT songs. This one is one of my all-time favorite songs. And it's the story of my romantic life. :(

If you don't listen to any of it, at least start at 2:45 for a half-minute or so. Classic great music.

I detest that woman, couldn't make it more than like 20 seconds. The hairless cat was cool as hell though!

Whoever sang "Don't worry, be happy" - just heard it on the radio and don't think whoever that is has any other songs?

Bob Marley

According to Wikipedia, the song (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don't_Worry,_Be_Happy) is often attributed to Bob Marley. But in fact it was eight years after Bob Marley's death that the song was written, recorded, and reached #1 by Bobbie McFerrin in 1988.

And who in the world can forget this one? And YES, it WAS going around there for awhile, although for comical purposes. But I still remember this great tune!
