Reality Check: No Matter Who Wins the White House, the New Boss Will Be the Same as the Old Boss

constitutional lawyer John Whitehead

“The main problem in any democracy is that crowd-pleasers are generally brainless swine who can go out on a stage & whup their supporters into an orgiastic frenzy—then go back to the office & sell every one of the poor bastards down the tube for a nickel apiece.” ― Hunter S. Thompson

Politics today is not about Republicans and Democrats.
Nor is it about healthcare, abortion, higher taxes, free college tuition, or any of the other buzzwords that have become campaign slogans for individuals who have mastered the art of telling Americans exactly what they want to hear.
Politics today is about one thing and one thing only: maintaining the status quo between the Controllers (the politicians, the bureaucrats, and the corporate elite) and the Controlled (the taxpayers).
Hillary will not save the nation. Nor will Bernie, Trump, Rubio, or Cruz.
The only ones who can save the nation are “we the people,” and yet the American people remain eager to be persuaded that a new president in the White House can solve the problems that plague us.

No matter who wins this next presidential election, you can rest assured that the new boss will be the same as the old boss, and we—the permanent underclass in America—will continue to be forced to march in lockstep with the police state in all matters, public and private.
Indeed, as I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People (http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-America-War-American-People/dp/1590793099/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8), it really doesn’t matter what you call them—the 1%, the elite, the controllers, the masterminds, the shadow government, the police state, the surveillance state, the military industrial complex—so long as you understand that no matter which party occupies the White House in 2017, the unelected bureaucracy that actually calls the shots will continue to do so.
Consider the following a much-needed reality check, an antidote if you will, against an overdose of overhyped campaign announcements, lofty electoral promises and meaningless patriotic sentiments that land us right back in the same prison cell.

FACT: According to a scientific study by Princeton researchers, the United States of America is not the democracy that it purports to be, but rather an oligarchy (https://www.princeton.edu/%7Emgilens/Gilens%20homepage%20materials/Gilens%20and%20Page/Gilens%20and%20Page%202014-Testing%20Theories%203-7-14.pdf), in which “economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy.”
FACT: Despite the fact that the number of violent crimes in the country is down substantially (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24crime.html), the lowest rate in forty years, the number of Americans being jailed for nonviolent crimes such as driving with a suspended license is skyrocketing (http://www.economist.com/node/16636027).
FACT: Thanks to an overabundance of 4,500-plus federal crimes and 400,000-plus rules (http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2012/March/Overcriminalization-Making-Us-a-Nation-of-Felons/) and regulations, it is estimated that the average American actually commits three felonies a day (http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052748704471504574438900830760842) without knowing it. In fact, according to law professor John Baker, “There is no one in the United States over the age of 18 who cannot be indicted for some federal crime (http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304319804576389601079728920). That is not an exaggeration.”
FACT: Despite the fact that we have 46 million Americans living at or below the poverty line (http://www.thenation.com/article/176242/americas-shameful-poverty-stats), 16 million children living in households without adequate access to food (http://www.nokidhungry.org/pdfs/Facts-Childhood-Hunger-in-America-2013-grid.pdf), and at least 900,000 veterans relying on food stamps (http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/11/veterans-stats-on-veterans-day/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0), enormous sums of taxpayer money continue to be doled out for presidential vacations ($16 million (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/03/27/obama-trips-to-hawaii-africa-reportedly-cost-taxpayers-nearly-16-million/) for trips to Africa and Hawaii), overtime fraud at the Department of Homeland Security (nearly $9 million (http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?a=Files.Serve&File_id=d204730e-4a24-4711-b1db-99bb6c29d4b6) in improper overtime claims, and that’s just in six of the DHS’ many offices)HurricaHur, and Hollywood movie productions ($10 million (http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?a=Files.Serve&File_id=d204730e-4a24-4711-b1db-99bb6c29d4b6) in taxpayer money was spent by the Army National Guard on Superman movie tie-ins aimed at increasing awareness about the National Guard).
FACT: Since 2001 Americans have spent $10.5 million every hour (http://nationalpriorities.org/cost-of/)for numerous foreign military occupations, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. There’s also the $2.2 million spent every hour (http://nationalpriorities.org/cost-of/) on maintaining the United States’ nuclear stockpile, and the $35,000 spent every hour (http://nationalpriorities.org/cost-of/) to produce and maintain our collection of Tomahawk missiles. And then there’s the money the government exports to other countries to support their arsenals, at the cost of $1.61 million every hour for the American taxpayers (http://nationalpriorities.org/cost-of/).
FACT: It is estimated that 2.7 million children in the United States have at least one parent in prison (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/07/31/children-left-behind-parents-arrested/13333909/), whether it be a local jail or a state or federal penitentiary, due to a wide range of factors ranging from overcriminalization and surprise raids at family homes to roadside traffic stops.
FACT: According to a Gallup poll, Americans place greater faith in the military and the police (http://www.gallup.com/poll/171710/public-faith-congress-falls-again-hits-historic-low.aspx) than in any of the three branches of government.
FACT: “Today, 17,000 local police forces are equipped with such military equipment as Blackhawk helicopters, machine guns, grenade launchers, battering rams, explosives, chemical sprays, body armor, night vision, rappelling gear and armored vehicles (http://antiwar.com/roberts/?articleid=10382),” reports Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. “Some have tanks.”
FACT: At least 400 to 500 innocent people are killed by police officers (http://www.mediaroots.org/epidemic-of-killer-cops-no-justice-no-peace/) every year. Indeed, Americans are now eight times more likely to die in a police confrontation (http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2011/06/fear-of-terror-makes-people-stupid.html) than they are to be killed by a terrorist. Americans are 110 times more likely to die of foodborne illness (http://truth-out.org/opinion/item/18715-cantaloupe-vs-al-qaeda) than in a terrorist attack.
FACT: Police officers are more likely to be struck by lightning than be made financially liable for their wrongdoin (file:///%5C%5CUsers%5Cnishawhitehead%5CDesktop%5CSSRN-id2297534.pdf)g.
FACT: On an average day in America, over 100 Americans have their homes raided by SWAT (http://www.abajournal.com/magazine/article/how_did_americas_police_become_a_military_force_on _the_streets) teams. Most of those SWAT team raids are for a mere warrant service. There has been a notable buildup in recent years of heavily armed SWAT teams within non-security-related federal agencies (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/may/28/inside-the-ring-directive-outlines-obamas-policy-t/?page=all#pagebreak) such as the Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of Personnel Management, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Education Department.
FACT: The FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) facial recognition system, which is set to hold data on millions of Americans (http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/04/fbi-to-have-52-million-photos-in-its-ngi-face-recognition-database-by-next-year/), will include a variety of biometric data, including palm prints, iris scans, and face recognition data. The NGI will be capable of uploading 55,000 images a day (http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/04/fbi-to-have-52-million-photos-in-its-ngi-face-recognition-database-by-next-year/), and conducting tens of thousands of photo searches daily.
FACT: Comprising an $82 billion industry (http://www.dcbar.org/for_lawyers/resources/publications/washington_lawyer/august_2013/drones.cfm), at least 30,000 drones are expected to occupy U.S. airspace by 2020.
FACT: Everything we do will eventually be connected to the Internet. By 2030 it is estimated there will be 100 trillion sensor devices connecting human electronic devices (http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/danaher20140609) (cell phones, laptops, etc.) to the Internet. Much, if not all, of our electronic devices will be connected to Google, which openly works with government intelligence agencies. Virtually everything we do now—no matter how innocent—is being collected by the spying American police state.
FACT: Americans know virtually nothing about their history or how their government works. In fact, according to a study by the National Constitution Center, 41 percent of Americans “are not aware that there are three branches of government (http://www.utne.com/politics/america-101-civic-literacy-saving-constitutional-democracy.aspx#axzz3GzBVfBIC), and 62 percent couldn’t name them; 33 percent couldn’t even name one.”
FACT: Only six out of every one hundred Americans (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/24/weekinreview/24schwartz.html?_r=0) know that they actually have a constitutional right to hold the government accountable for wrongdoing, as guaranteed by the right to petition clause of the First Amendment.
Perhaps the most troubling fact of all is this: we have handed over control of our government and our lives to faceless bureaucrats who view us as little more than cattle to be bred, branded, butchered and sold for profit.
If there is to be any hope of restoring our freedoms and reclaiming control over our government, it will rest not with the politicians but with the people themselves.
When all is said and done, each American will have to decide for themselves whether they prefer dangerous freedom to peaceful slavery. One thing is for sure: the reassurance ritual of voting is not going to advance freedom one iota.

revelarts, while I agree with much of what he said, what does Mr. Whitehead expect us to do to take back our country? He provides no solutions in the link.

Perhaps the people are fighting back, or think they are, by supporting Trump?

I'm sure some people do think that.
and trump touches some of the issues but seems oblivious to others.
and many people don't seem very concerned about the things Whitehead mentions. and since that's the case there not much that can be done on federal level. the politicians on there aren't doing anything but making it worse so whitehead and others mention starting at the State and local levels, nullifying the federal actions to start. But it's becoming harder and harder since tech is closing in on everyone.

putting all the above issues in the face of all the candidates and pressuring them to do something about them with the same passion as some worry about illegals and muslims would do the trick.

if you know a few candidates that are going to address those issue constitutionally i'll vote give money and campaign.

Yeah more evil cop rhetoric. That's the ticket. And it never ceases to amaze me that libertarians see no difference for example between Ted Cruz and Obama.

look at proposed actions issue by issue and you'll see why clearly.
if you just look a labels, supposed political ideologies and talk then they are WAY different

constitutionally
go down the list of the 10 amendments one by one and tell me how many different ACTIONS a republican is Going to make over Obama. how many different ACTIONS has Obama made from Bush on that front BD?

concerning war or terror how much different is a republican planning to run it?
Obama has bombed more than Bush,
Are Republicans going to bomb different people, more or less or about the same?
the same but promise different results is all.

the only really big differences are in gun control, marriage, taxing the rich and corporations and maybe health care.
most of the rest is pretty much the same.

you complain but can't tell me any candidate that will address the issues in the article or even have a problem with much if any of it. As it seems you don't.

In addition to your list, I have a couple of big ones in the way the candidates I support differ. (1) Both Trump and Cruz have strong positions on illegal immigration. (2) Supreme Court nominations. I have do doubt about the type of person Cruz would nominate. I do have doubts about Trump, but am confident he would offer a better nomination than Hillary.

Those, revelarts, are the issues for which I will vote.

Gun control, marriage, and health care are pretty important.
No way Bush signs this hideous Iran deal. And no way Bush puts two radicals on the court. And yes they are more radical than Roberts.

^^^^^^ SURE THING REV.--WHY WORRY ABOUT THE MUZZY BASTARDS UNTIL THEY COME FOR YOU TO CUT YOUR DAMN HEAD OFF! As long as its only tens of thousands overseas no big deal, right?
Yep, thats the ticket. Let them grow in power and strength here until its too damn late.

Always has amazed me how many people prefer to bury their damn heads in the sand until its too damn late.
They already have their sealed communities here and are heavily into dem party and politics.
Already getting major concessions, special privileges from our government that does the exact opposite of that for Christians(attacks Christians).

But hey, be sure to keep those ears full of sand so people like me speaking the truth about them never
penetrate, right??
And although both muslims and illegals are true enemies to this nation, they should not be included together like that..
As the muzzies do so deliberately with an agenda to destroy while the illegals that destruction is just a by-product of their culture, education(lack of), disease they bring and criminal ways..
Yet again you mixed apples and ranges, but hey you did it for greater self-righteous condemning effect, right?-Tyr
