Few people will talk about this, and fewer will even want to acknowledge it, but what Donald Trump did before the debate even began shows the measure of a real man's worth.

At the beginning of the ABC debate, each of the candidates were being introduced in a specific order. The first name called to the stage was Chris Christie. The applause was loud and lingered through the time when Martha Raddatz called the second candidate Ben Carson.

Dr. Carson did not hear his name called (easy to understand why when you listen to the video) and stood in the entry-way. The moderators, with their backs to the candidates, didn't notice his absence and called the third name on the list, Ted Cruz.

Ted walked past Dr. Carson and onto the stage. Carson remained in the awkward, and embarrassing position, 'no-mans-land', on-camera but out of sight of the live audience.

What happened next shows the remarkable character of Donald Trump.

The fourth name called was Donald Trump, but by then the back-stage crew and candidates were aware of Dr. Carsons' position. Trump slowly approached, and then realized the embarrassing position of a fellow candidate hanging in the wind.

Trump showed his leadership by standing right next to his friend, and not walking onto the stage.

The other names continued to be called, and proceeded as mentioned. But not Donald Trump, he remained with his colleague thereby reducing the internal anxiety felt by Carson.

It would have been very easy for Trump to walk by Ben, just like all the other candidates did. But instead he chose to wait, and remove the embarrassment factor by infinite magnitudes.

Then, like a boss, when Dr. Carson was called to the stage, Trump waited and allowed Ben to get the audience response and appreciation. It takes a lot of courage to make split second decisions like this, and it shows a remarkable insight into the man's character.

Whether or not Trump was 'helping Carson' or was equally confused is unknown. Doesn't matter, many people there agreed that the noise level was absurd. It was a glitch without a doubt.

As for Trump and his recent classy behavior towards Carson, shouldn't forget how Carson fell so far, so fast:

Yep, I saw that as well. All of the others walked around and went to their spots, and Trump refused to do so. That was classy, and it was the right thing to do.

Carson was in a very tough spot, and Trump standing next to him saved him a lot of embarrassment.

That was the fault of the mods by not watching what was happening.

Trump is such a nice guy, not wanting that poor black man to feel like he has to burn the Bitch down cause he didn't hear his name called, nope when ya join the Trump train ya do these nice things for other races because it is such a loving train.

Well unless your pissed at Cruz and then you talk about him and explain why he is like a pedophile ( funniest thing I have seen this political season) and right over top of that quote they had one of Trump calling Cruz a fraud for not having all the facts. :laugh:

Trump was saying that Carson's temper does not go away and that it's still there. That comes from Carson's own description of his rage when he attempted to stab a classmate in the stomach but it hit his classmate's belt buckle and broke the knife. Lucky break for Carson. :eek:

Then he compared that inner rage with trying to cure a pedophile's sickness - he said neither can be cured.

I disagree with Trump with the inner rage never going away, but 100% agree about trying to cure a pedophile... all you can do there is scare the pervert into not doing it anymore, but the urge is unchanged.

It was a bad comparison, but he never called Carson a pedophile.

Yep, I know.

But out in the interwebs there are a lot of people who think he did call Ben a molester.

It was poorly phrased and I think Trump was wrong about the anger in any case. I don't think anyone that's watched Carson and his demeanor can possibly come to the conclusion that unbridled murderous rage is lurking under that calm exterior. He seems totally unflappable and in complete control.

Even have a few reserved for those that cone around to seeing that he will actually go about reversing much as he can of the obama destroy this nation agenda.

Gunny and Kat was brought up so I guess I'll add to that list. Include me with those two as I would prefer something better for our Nation. Like Kat, I believe this could easily be "trumped" up to any given scenario and it is in the eye of the beholder. ME, I see Trump looking as confused as Carson and contribute the entire thing to a rude, unruly crowd, a terribly ran moderator/network and even Carson's and Trump's staff.

Yeah, lump me in (GLADLY) with Gunny and Kat.....Trump is a blow-hard (even though I like what he says). He seems to be the equivalent of B.O. who simply knows how to stir the pot, say all the right things to the right crowd and make promises, Promises, PROMISES. Even so, I'd prefer that he'd spent MUCH more of his time blasting HELLary rather than chalking the other Republican Candidates as child molesters or whatever else he's said.

Bitter much? I saw his Numbers go down right after the attacks. Thought maybe there was a connection, given he doesn't exactly exude strength...

Bitter? Hardly. Disappointed in the masses? Indeed.

I saw his numbers fall in response to the Trump attacks coupled with his lack of knowledge regarding foreign affairs. Same was true of Trump regarding depth of knowledge, but that is not of consequence.

He could have dropped in polls for several reasons, I recalled this article, although a few months back:

That's because Carson has lost ground key voting groups in Iowa: evangelicals, Tea Party supporters, those who are very conservative and older voters. Much of that support has actually gone to Cruz, helping boost him into first place.

I agree, though some consistency in what matters would seem important. When was the book that is cited written? Carson explained or tried to what he said happened. Seems to have been an exaggeration.

What about candidates that thought different things than they are currently running on? How long ago is 'relevant?' A year? 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? What about when they use weasel words saying they now have 'changed their position?' Should they be believed? Is there a time limit? Depends on the candidate? What about when there is a plethora of positions that a candidate is now saying they've changed their mind about? Is there some limit of number? Time frame?

If you read beneath the headlines, getting into West Point is equivalent to getting a full scholarship anywhere else. And if Dr. Carson wants to inspire young people by couching it that way, it's bizarre to fault him.

From what I remember he had done very well in ROTC, met a general that told him he should apply-with his grades and ROTC performance, it was nearly a given. He never did go that route, instead going for medicine.

I don't know why he 'misremembered' the not applying. Perhaps for the reason you give, to be inspirational to young-whom the book was aimed at?

In any case, Trump started with this, then went onto many other 'bombs' and 'analogies', etc. It worked, thanks in part to Carson being weak at the debate on foreign affairs.

I like Carson, I think his story IS inspirational. I don't think he's ready for President, then again he's as much ready as the one who trashed him.

You have a realistic view. I have thought from the beginning that America would be incapable of appreciating Carson. We generally like our candidates to be more like polished turds, lol. I started the move toward Rubio because I really want someone who has wide appeal, to get us back in the WH.
