"Marine Corps history is steeped in heroism that dates back to the

Corps’ first formation on Nov. 10, 1775. In the over 240 years since

they were originally established, thousands of heroes have

emerged. Here are 11 that become <nobr>true legends (http://www.glocktalk.com/#)"

Dan Daily and John Basilone are the heroes of every enlisted Marine that straps on a pair. I remember once before I got out my Marines called me "old school" and "hard corps". I didn't get it at the time. Dan Daily was hard corps to me. LtGen Barrows who was in charge of Operation Dewey Canyon who attacked into Laos THEN asked for permission (which was denied). THOSE were my heroes.

Dan Daily was an SOB from Hell. The Battle of Belleau Woods at Chateau Thierry was where Gunny Daily took charge from a weak as officer and said we ain't going to lose. And we didn't. That's just how we roll.
