The interior minister for the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, within which Cologne is situated, has said people of a right wing persuasion discussing the mass sexual assaults on New Years Eve online are equally “awful” as the attackers and rapists.


“What happens on the right-wing platforms and in chat rooms is at least as awful as the acts of those assaulting the women,” Ralf Jaeger, a member of the left wing Social Democratic Party of Germany, told reporters this morning.

As I type, I've got the James O'Brien show on (LBC radio ... talk-in show). As I've said before, he's a hardline Leftie. Sure enough, he's debating in a fashion typical of the Left on this. He's prefaced his sought-after debate by expressing as strongly as possible his 'disgust' over the assaults and rapes in Cologne and elsewhere. But he's gone on to say that though it's right that the people responsible (.. ARE they 'people' .. ?) are caught and dealt with, you cannot (as he puts it) 'punish' anyone who wasn't involved.

By this he means that to infer a greater issue, to do with culture or religion, then apply it to anyone not DIRECTLY involved in those assaults, is a big 'no-no'. In other words, how dare anyone look beyond those specific assaults and infer ANYTHING relevant AT ALL ..

O'Brien is doing his usual trick of closing down debate with those who not only disagree but do it coherently and credibly. He's just ended one such conversation by saying he was really worried about the caller's blood pressure ....

By the way: in the previous show (Nick Ferrari: Nigel Farage, UKIP leader co-hosting for the final hour) .. I learned something interesting. It seems that to criticise immigration is, now, an ILLEGAL ACT in Sweden. Not just frowned upon, but is ILLEGAL.

A new law will come into effect in Sweden after Christmas 2014, that will allow people to be prosecuted for criticizing immigration or politician’s unwillingness to tackle the issue.

Over 100 women have reported incidents of sexual violence during new year celebrations in Cologne. Reports have suggested that many of the perpetrators were of Arab or North African descent.
