If there's another discussion on this, I apologise .. I couldn't immediately find one.

But anyway, a story appeared in the British press .. one where Putin asserts that he sees America, specifically NATO, as a threat to Russian security !

[I'm sure that Ukraine would wonder at his gall ...]

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3381844/Putin-names-United-States-threats-new-Russian-security-strategy.html

A new appraisal names the United States as one of the threats to Russia's national security for the first time, a sign of how relations with the west have deteriorated in recent years.

The document, 'About the Strategy of National Security of Russian Federation', was signed by President Vladimir Putin on New Year's Eve.

It replaces a 2009 version, endorsed by then- President Dmitry Medvedev, the current prime minister, which mentioned neither the United States nor NATO.

It says Russia has managed to heighten its role in solving global problems and international conflicts. That heightened role has caused a reaction by the West, it says.

'The strengthening of Russia happens against the background of new threats to the national security, which has complex and interrelated nature,' the document says.

Conducting an independent policy, 'both international and domestic' has caused 'counteraction from the USA and its allies, which are striving to retain their dominance in global affairs.'

That in turn is likely to lead to 'political, economical, military and informational pressure' on Russia, the document says.'

Incredible, eh ??

Russia and the US may, currently, have common cause where Syria and ISIS are concerned (and even that's a little arguable). But I suggest that they're an 'ally' who cannot ultimately be trusted as one.

Obama and his arrogance helped create this rift. Putin is not innocent either,
but he is no slouch.

Obama is a weakling.

Putin does exactly what a strong leaders does, takes advantage -FOR- his nation's benefit.
Obama does what a traitor does, takes advantage OF his nation to weaken it.....Fact....
An in-depth look at obama's agenda clearly shows its not been mistakes or mere happenstance
that the string of actions constantly weakened our position the world, gave our enemies great succor and pissed off our allies so much that we have lost many of them.--Tyr

Absolutely. Putin is a shrewd gangster. A ruthless unscrupulous bastard. But I totally get why Europeans (and the world) look up to and respect him. He has picked up the torch of world leader after Obama dropped it.

Putin is an ally, and friend of America, as much as anyone named Neville Chamberlain once claimed about the Friendly Adolf Hitler.

See for yourself, http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/education/resources/chamberlain-and-hitler/

and remember....those who ignore, or forget History are Doomed to repeat it......
