Now I know why the City of Chicago fought so hard to suppress the police dash cam video detailing the shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. The video pretty much destroys their excuse as to why the kid was shot.
Police said McDonald had a weapon and lunged at a police office. The video shows McDonald running down the street before he is shot multiple times. Police approach his body and continue shooting him.

Former NYPD Commissioner, and ex-con, Bernard Kerik says that when Laquan McDonald spun around, Officer Van Dyke may have thought he was going for a gun, and then shot him.

"Van Dyke has said the teen lunged at him with a knife. Prosecutors said the teen never spoke to the officer and was carrying a pocket knife in his hand, but did not move toward the officer."

I have a friend at work who I am very fond of. She is a black woman and is about 30 years old. I asked her what her son's name is. I won't repeat it here, but it was something like John Gabriel...that is, a normal name. She said she was more interested in her son being able to get a job when he got older than naming him some ethnic name. I admired that. I think names carry a lot of weight. Naming someone Laquan is setting him up for failure and a life of crime.

The special election of the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel. That was held in April. The election had been close and would have been a loss if the Black leaders had to have dealt with the story. It was the mayor's office that prevented the story from coming out.
