The Amazing Donald Trump
They said he wouldn't run. He did.
They said he'd refuse to show his financial statement. He showed it before most of the other candidates.
They said the McCain remark would tank his campaign. He's now leading in all the polls and RCP has him right now winning a landslide against Hillary.
And it's with stuff like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMnfI1a0evE
These campaign rallies draw record crowds. And he hasn't changed the message much. It's always a few WOW's at the beginning, some cute statement about those who came early getting the best real estate, then the major issues that are the most important on the people's minds.
His biggest applause lines, predictably, are about building the wall, taking care of our vets and in a couple of instances that famous line "bomb the shit out of ISIS." I don't think I've seen any presidential candidate use that word on the stump ever.
He'll close with The American Dream is Dead, but we're going to make America great again.
So you're thinking that this man is a genius at branding. So how does that qualify him for the presidency?
If you have to ask that question, just remember the idiots we've had in the Oval Office since Reagan. None of them were as qualified as THE DONALD.
Right now, nobody running for the office is as qualified as THE DONALD.
It's a great show. And Election Night will be predictable. It's going to be THE DONALD in a landslide.

I agree with both. My concern is DEFINITELY him losing the general. The left is in lockstep and going to vote for an obvious criminal. The right is not. Trump appeals to a minority of the right -- the angry ones. He's going to be another McCain. He won't get the moderate/centrist and/or independent votes. They'll stay home.

Everybody should start worrying about `their own` candidate and get them going and quite Jacking their mouth about Trump and helping the Leftist.

Yet the truth in your words ring clear and loud.
This nation is tired of the regular lying sacks of shit that run for office.
And Trump is just rebellious enough to keep more of his promises than any of the others IMHO.
In fact, his conceit almost insures that to be the case IMHO.

donald trump 60% -vs- ben carson 40%
donald trump 57% -vs- marco rubio 43%
donald trump 57% -vs- ted cruz 43%
a new yougov/economist poll (full pdf below) of 2000 national respondents shows donald trump with a commanding lead, and beating all gop rivals in head-to-head matchups.
For the first time pollsters asked the respondents head-to-head comparisons between trump, carson, cruz and rubio. The results eliminate yet another promoted myth:
so he beats her and easily beats our other top strong candidates!
So why all the crap about his not being able to win!??
Are you guys cheering for his defeat??

You in a mood or something today? Trump sucks and can't fulfill ANY of his promises. He's a bag of wind and looks like Harry the Eagle from Sesame Street. He's so damned petty he gets distracted by the least perceived insult and goes on a tear and loses focus of what he's supposed to be doing. If he appeals to your anger, fine. Again, that is NOT the prerequisite for anyone I want as President or Commander in Chief. You want some angry MF-er in the WH vote for me. I can at least maintain my focus on the task at hand and don't spend all my time running off at the mouth.

I think his stances and what he wants to do to improve foreign trade are workable. While I don't think he can toss out 11 million folks overnight, I think at least enforcing laws and deporting those that are caught committing crimes, at the very least, is workable. With some issues to be worked out, I think enforcing and building a wall in more areas is workable. I think even you would agree with his stance on the VA. I don't know much about extensive plans, but his stances on guns and the 2nd amendment are in line with what I believe. I don't see many issues with his tax plan, nor do I see it as not being able to be fulfilled.
Yes, he talks smack about illegals, is rough around the edges and I'm sure his demeanor pisses people off. But for a few months now people have been stating he has no plan, he just says he'll get good people, he can do this, he can't do that... And no offense, but it would appear all of those people really aren't too informed about Trump and his stances.

I'm not glued to Trump. Hell, someone decide who it is then, tell us who it is that will definitely beat this skank running on the Dem side, and I'll gladly vote for that person. :) But if left to choices, Trump fits my style the best. Maybe him and his rhetoric can find a way to ship Hillary out of the country after he wins, or at least put her behind bars. :)

I had a few threads about this. He's my front runner, but from everything I have seen he has the least chance against Hillary compared with Carson or Cruz (and maybe Fiorina at the time?). But hell, times and things change. Some thought Hillary was unbeatable in 2008, and some nitwit with no experience beat her out.
If the middle wants to play a part in our election process, and weed out the candidates, they need to make themselves heard as others are. Maybe folks would think twice if there was a better way to know how the candidates will fair down the line. This is the time for EVERYONE to speak out. That's the next best thing to the crystal ball - speaking out and being informed.

Look, you KNOW if anyone knows about pissing people off and being rough around the edges it's me. However, I am very nonconfrontational. And I know when and where to play nice when I have to. Trump is neither. He can't bully his way into everything he wants.
I don't care about deporting illegals. I don't care about a wall. He'll get neither done. Congress will stop him. And let's be clear, he probably will NOT have the support of Congress. The RNC is just biting its lip because he's the frontrunner. The Dems did the same with Carter and he didn't have their support in Congress.
What I don't like seeing is anyone getting ticked off about this crap. I know several of y'all like Trump. Big deal. I lose all kinds of sleep over it.
I don't like words being put in my mouth, and I don't like people getting pissy because I don't like "their guy". You know my stance and it hasn't changed. Go and vote against the "D". As far as my opinion of Trump goes, it stands.

I'll also point out that "divide and conquer" is as old as time as a strategy. It's working for ISIS and it's worked for the left last 2 elections and it's going to work this time around too. If we don't quit all the infighting, Hillary will be President.

I like Trump. I also like Carson, and love Cruz. I'm not ticked about anything. Just pointed out some facts was all. I didn't place words in your mouth. I didn't get pissy. Maybe you quoted the wrong person with that crap?
I'll be just as happy with Cruz for example. Or Carson. But who's fault is it that they are down in the polls? Where are these tons of people that don't like Trump? Because this is the time. If folks don't like what is being said thus far, someone else needs to speak up, and folks support that person. I'm cool with a few of the others. But Trump is obviously doing something that the others are incapable of doing thus far, or they would be the one in the lead.

No, but LTG was getting bent out of shape. Apparently a certain board owner is skimming threads. I am not the one taking anything personally here. :whistling2:
What Trump is doing is playing to the camera and appealing to emotion; which, I also think is wrong. The most qualified candidate to me was Rick Perry. We have a better budget in Texas than the US has. And whatever the left likes bitch about, it took 8 years of Bush and 12 years of Perry to undo the hole our last Dem governor put us in.
Of what's left, Bush is the most qualified. He's got a proven record. Trump is a real estate developer. Being a commercial electrician for 15 years, I kinda know how they operate.

Yeah, I want THAT finger on the trigger. He'll get shut down at every turn.
If he appeals to your anger, fine. Again, that is NOT the prerequisite for anyone I want as President or Commander in Chief. You want some angry MF-er in the WH vote for me. I can at least maintain my focus on the task at hand and don't spend all my time running off at the mouth.
....ahhhhh...enjoying my coffee...uummmm...Good evening..Oh...BTW...Your guy sucks too..*who ever that is..dont hear you talk much about him....
...Trump has ...as with many got your Panties in a wad...see big boy ..we can do this all night...You vote for who ever you like and I will do the same....Ummm ...Damn! my coffee is good tonight!......

Well...
One thing for certain is that Trump is voicing thoughts and feelings
many people hold.
Bombastic, yes. But direct? Even more Yes.

What board owner, what are you talking about?
Of course Trump is playing to the cameras, that's what ALL the candidates are doing right about now. While it is true he is playing to emotions - those emotions are real. It's not Trump who made the entire country pissed with illegal immigration. That anger was there and he used it to his advantage. Same with ISIS and other foreign policy stuff. People are tired of looking weak and bowing to others. Trump is in line with the feelings of many, many folks in America.
I'd be curious from others as to what other candidates are better, and why, and what specifically they are stating they will do, that Trump is not. Seriously, what is so great - or even better, different - about the plans of those against Trump? (those that have a shot in hell). We hear tons of anti-Trump talk, but seemingly there's a shortage of threads/posts on what is so great about the other candidates. I'm more than happy to discuss such things.
I know how some real estate developers are too, but they certainly aren't all the same. My wife is a real estate developer who has even done some deals with Trump and his company. He may have other shitty things about him, but his RE companies don't disqualify him.
I know what you're saying about qualifications. But Hillary would supposedly have as much qualifications as the next, and that doesn't mean much to me. I'm a little tired of career politicians. That's not to say that Trump is the answer, but "status quo" or someone "who knows" congress and other leaders doesn't speak much to me. That tells me "another insider".

Carly Carly Carly.
She has the temperament we need and she exudes strength and good leadership.
Trump is a loose cannon. And I have serious doubts about how conservative (or right wing ) he is. Abortion and single payer come to mind. And how aggressive on foreign policy is he? Not my last choice but not my first. I am worried.
Carson is a good man but does not exude strength or leadership.
Jeb has the experience but I am so thoroughly disappointed... There's my wife. Why don't you apologize. Gmafb. George W kept us safe?? That was insulting. I don't blame W for 9/11 but he didn't keep us safe. He should not have brought that up.
Rand Paul is an absolute dipshit. He would be similar to Obama on foreign policy. He is too much of an idealist. No pragmatism whatsoever.
Rubio is extremely sharp but has never led anything and that shows to some extent. He is probably my second choice.

@Black Diamond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2142)...
Take a wary look at Rubio. He is pro-immigrant. Very pro-immigrant. Same with Jeb, though I think he would probably be a solid moderate Republican. I might vote for him if he wins, but I will have to take a xanax before I ever vote for Rubio. Rubio is at the bottom of the list for me.
Remember, if we lose the immigration battle, we lose everything.
Trump kinda lost me when he made fun of the retarded man. Now that in itself does not hurt him with me so much, but it shows that one never knows what he will do and that he will do something to blow it and let the Democrats win.
While probably a good man, Carson comes across as soft.
And like you, I do like Carly. But Cruz is my choice for right now. To me the ideal ticket would be Cruz/Fiorina.
And as always, I appreciate your conservative beliefs.
