Kinda retarded if you ask me. "immodest, pornographic"? I don't see it. Looks like any other female bodybuilding photos to me. I don't care for the muscular look on ladies, but I don't see anything inappropriate at all. There's no abuse, no harassment, no nudity, no bad messages...

“I know it’s overload of me in a bikini BUT I’m a 37 year old divorced, single mom of four and I’ve NEVER been anything but skinny and weak,” Mindi Jensen wrote on her Facebook page Oct. 11, showing off a video of her appearance in a fitness model show.
And the Price, Utah, mother — who began bodybuilding after a bout of depression and has been sharing photos of her transformation on social media — remained just as proud a week later when administrators at the middle school where she teaches told her that they’d received a complaint about the images she was sharing on social media under pseudonyms. “These kids found it, and the parents were appalled by the pictures — they called it immodest,” Jenen explained to ABC 4. “They called it pornographic. They called the pictures inappropriate, and these are my fitness and show pictures in my sport, in my uniform in my bodybuilding sport.”
The officials at North Sanpete Middle School in Moroni, Utah, then gave her the choice of making her posts private, taking them down, or being fired — yet she stood her ground. “I get comments and messages that it’s inspirational,” Jensen told Fox 13. (She didn’t respond to Yahoo Parenting’s request for comment.) “Women like my story and they’re following my story, and if I put it to private, then it’s not going to reach these people that might need and understand me.”
Jensen said as much to the school principal on Tuesday, she added, calling out the parents who lodged their complaint. “Why are my rights being taken away and not the child’s right?” she said. “It’s between the parent and the child. Put restrictions on your children. If you are not comfortable with seeing me in my fitness uniform on stage posing, then take that away from your kid. Don’t take it away from me.”

I think she could eat a few more sandwiches.
but she's right. there's nothing so bad about these photos. she's not sending them to kids.
Is she a teacher? how are threatening to fire her?
It may not be "appropriate" to see your friends mom like this but it's not a crime.
She could be a bit more modest but it's her choice not the schools.

No doubt, about 400 sandwiches. I hate to see all muscle like that, or all bone. Yuk. :puke:
If she was sending them to kids for the wrong reasons, that would be a different story. But this is simply a woman with pictures of herself, from taking care of herself and from body competitions.
Are her ankles uncovered? Shame!
How dare women have bodies.

Well, it all does depend, Mr, Noir! If she were naked, she should be fired. There ARE limitation when showing off your body, especially when a teacher is teaching KIDS. So while this one went too far, and I think she's 100% in the right - women with bodies alone doesn't always make the cut.

And presumably if she was wearing a bra and panties in the picture rather than a bikini, opinions would change too, because humans are weird.

Well, yeah, probably right. Same with gals if they went to the beach wearing the same. I kinda agree there too, makes little sense. I have no issue with that though, so long as the bra/panties aren't see through.

Yes we're weird for sure.
but i wonder if we're weird because we can see her in her knickers and bra and have a problem
or that we're weird because we can see her in a bikini and NOT have a problem.
....
A simple question to ask about clothing is this. are men generally more sexually aroused and interested by seeing more female flesh or less?
all the relative situations are a side show, the obvious answer is clear.
the only question becomes how much clothing equals or is considered modesty.
The modesty question itself is a distinctly human question.
And not one explained by human evolution.

Besides , are they gonna render same verdict for any fat female school employee that posts beach pictures in bikinis?

I think it really boils down to intimacy. A bikini can look hot on a woman, but thats not really intimate, lIke 8t is with underwear. But honestly, I've gotten to the uncomfortably turned on point by my girlfriends in their regular, non-intentionally sexy pajamas.

Get ME started. Sitting in a roon with 3 pre-pubescent boys trying to deflect from the damned trojan and viagra commercials. However, this woman has on more clothes than some I've seen on the beach, and that actually IS the outfit for female fitness/bodybuilding athletes.

Why should she answer that question when it's all a matter of taste? We can go here if you want ... what do YOU find undesirable about women that you would prefer a man? Kinda being judgmental and trying to be the pot calling the kettle black, aren't you?
I don't like blondes. BFD. And I AM a blonde, btw. Just had bad luck with them.

She can post her opinion if she wants, and should be prepared to have people be critical of it.
She has the courage...
Pls note i already lampooned the idea of her "courage" to make such statements, following up by stating such courage is hilarious xD

See answer to NT. What you find attractive and how someone is "supposed" to look are different statements.
I am certain at least one persons partner on here (and maybe more) is a women who is fairly muscular, presumably because that is how they want to be.

There really isn't a difference. Both statements are driven by a person's personal preference and there's no accounting for taste.
What I don't get is your judgemental calling her out on expressing her opinion on what an attractive woman looks like. That kind of PC crap is silly.

Unfortunately, the media tell us all day every day how we are supposed to look. Most women buy into the message, and don't even realize they are doing it. It's that pervasive.
However, lest you think I am personally bitter or something, I was more than happy to benefit from my looks on job interviews and getting out of traffic tickets, etc. It might be nice if things were different, but that would probably take a society like Tehran. They are pretty lacking in superficial judgments of women's beauty. At least in public.

It doesn't work just for girls. Depends on your audience. You can get over in the military if you look good in uniform and not have a brain cell. It applies to everything and unfortunately we place WAY too much emphasis on looks in this country.

Oh it started long before the Barbie dolls. Since the first time men and women discovered that the two genders are different, we have been trying to tell the opposite gender how they should look and act. Take a look at some of the early commercials on television or rules of etiquette for both men and women.

I'm Mr 20s-30s- 40s-50s film buff. And I grew up watching 50s reruns. I know what you're saying. I was more referring to the current standard. You go back to earlier in the 20th century and the standard for women was a LOT different.
You look at men (and I was affected by this) pre "First Blood". We had muscle but no one expected us to be ripped 24-7. What most don't know is Stallone was hospitalized twice for being dehydrated and having no carbs in his body. At the time though, we were all supposed to have that "look". Hell, if you want a 6 pack out of me, let's go to the store and I'll buy you one.

There is a difference in saying 'i do not find this person attractive' and 'I do not find this person attractive because they do not look how they are suppose to look.'
She can post her opinion if she wants, and should be prepared to have people be critical of it.

Pls note i already lampooned the idea of her "courage" to make such statements, following up by stating such courage is hilarious xD
See answer to NT. What you find attractive and how someone is "supposed" to look are different statements.
Gotta back up Noir here. Basically, the statement made about her was that she doesn't look like a woman, because it isn't the standard archetype of.how a woman "should" look. This changes it from a subjective statement of personal taste, and into an objective statement over what makes a woman a woman.
The former is entirely fine: after all, that's kind of what we're here for. The latter is this sort of weird elitism we love to engage in, where we get to say something like, say, Jim isn't a "real" Steelers fan because he isn't from Pittsburgh, so he can't really appreciate the history.
There's a similar thing happening for.women in gaming culture. Imagine a woman watches football every week, follows the whole season, and you guys go to the see the Super Bowl together, only to have some painted up chuckle nuts call her out as a "fake football girl", because she doesn't know some particular set 9f stats for one 9f the teams, or flub an individual players name. That's currently what is happening within gamer culture right now.

This comment qualifies for two distinctions: The first is that it's another "how dare you post while (insert group they feel doesn't Have the right to speak)" post, in this case, the sheer unmitigated gall to post while being younger than someone else.
The second is it actually lends to Noir's side of the argument. It's a pretty common tactic on most sites to belittle a poster by talking down to them to keep from having to answer a question the person can't answer well. It's one of the most basic bitch moves of Internet debate, so it just showcases a lack of ability compared to the person it supposedly belittles.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. A PERSON is "supposed to look" however they want. Having been in the fitness world and around female Marines for years (was married to one), that look doesn't phase me. Those freaks they call fashion models couldn't get a date with ME if THEY paid.

I'll go back to my original statement. It's a matter of taste.
In conversations over the years I've heard some strange stuff. I've been told by a female SSgt when I was a Cpl she would never go out with a bald guy. She was black as coffee and looked like a gorilla. I was thinking she should go out with anything that asked her.
A lot a women won't go out with a big guy that's all muscle. It's never offended me.
The first time I came home from Okinawa and saw a fat person I was like Holy Crap! I hadn't seen one in a year, and over there I was a damned giant.
Who is ANYONE to decide who and what others should be or look like? Should probably take a good look in the mirror.
We ALL can read. Don't forget comprehension goes with it. YOU are being judgmental. Pretty simple.
Yep, I am, there are two types of judgement going on here -
Periannes judgement - Women should look a certain way.
My judgement - There is no certain way a woman should look.
Who is ANYONE to decide who and what others should be or look like? Should probably take a good look in the mirror.
That would be ...perianne.
Gunny

That would be ...perianne.
I don't see where she's done anything but express an opinion. We ALL have our preferences. We all have our opinions. I don't think it requires several pages of character assassination just because we all think differently.
I in fact embrace that we all think differently and are allowed to express our opinions. At least what we have left of freedom of expression after the past 7 years.
I don't want to live in a cookie cutter house, drive a cookie cutter car to my cookie cutter job dressed in my cookie cutter khakis. And I don't want a cookie cutter woman and MY bones alone probably weigh more than you so I'd never fit the cookie cutter mold.
I don't see where she's done anything but express an opinion.
You're welcome to describe how stating how a woman should look is not a judgement on what women should look like.
Gunny

You're welcome to describe how stating how a woman should look is not a judgement on what women should look like.
I'm welcome to describe how I don't give a rat's ass what others think. You want to try playing semantics with ME you better belt up, junior.
Everyone discriminates starting with crawling out from under the covers. Every choice you make is discriminating. Every discriminating choice you make is based on your worldview -- judgment.
As hard as you lefties try, you can't accept the simple fact that you're as bad, and actually more judgmental of others than the right. So trying to play a game with a word that affects ALL of us all day every day is just a deflection from the facts. We're ALL judgmental.
This is a message board. The means of communication is written word. It's design and purpose are to express opinions. Feel free to express yours. AND feel free to get hammered if someone disagrees.
In your particular case I'll go back to one of my original statements: What the Hell does a thread about a WOMAN's appearance have to do with YOU? When you decide to grow up, you'll figure out you take a woman's opinion of another woman with a grain of salt. Same as a man's opinion of another man. I don't get why a woman would be attracted to a man who can't see his belt buckle but it happens all the time all over the world.
With age comes wisdom. Quit trying to figure out the unexplainable. You're trying to be all logical about something based on emotion.
Figure THIS out: You just got served.

Good on you for having the courage to insult the women in the OP, and indeed all women who don't look how you think they are supposed to look.
B+
Here's my 2 cents on how this argument started, and what the comments mean. A LOT of people feel "women should have curves". Peri didn't invent these comments. The idea that women need to be scrawny and 100lbs started with modeling and magazine covers. In that respect, I agree, women are supposed to have curves. Far too much of Hollywood and magazines are telling women they need to look a certain way in order to fit in. I love boobies as much as the next guy, but I'm not fond of boob jobs to get there. I have NO problem with petite women, if it's natural, not bony/scrawny from vomiting and/or pills and drugs. I think men AND women were meant to have a little meat on them, which means a little bit of curves. This woman chose bodybuilding, which sculpts her body. Not my cup of tea, but if that's what she wants, let her have it.

Anything we give to here must be as a family, unless one of us has some spare cash in our pockets for a small one off donation. But as an agreed decision, we give monthly to the NRA and to the wounded warrior project.
Honestly, if it were me in charge - I think the massive stadiums we see around the country for football and baseball - they should have similar for our veterans. They should be the best of the best of the best, that people would look at and be proud of, knowing that America takes pride in taking care of their own. So much crap would be removed in order to pay for it. It sounds outlandish because we've never seen our government come close to making it priority #1. But they could, and they should.

I can only observe that if anyone's expert at trolling, it'd be you, FJ. Offhand, I can't think of anyone here who's been more outrageous at doing that on this forum than you.

Do you not think that people can think wrongly?
... and what control-freaking 'authority' do you require to have in place, to pass such judgements on people ?
What script should socially-moulded citizens adhere to ?

I'm pretty sure you don't know the definition; see below.

Newsflash: you only IMAGINE that you don't express yourself like a Leftie. You've tripped yourself up in the past, and I'm sure you'll do it again in the future. Since you think as one, you really can't help yourself.

Well...your sanctimonious and spoiled brat attitude does not impress me one bit. I can get as mean as Gunny.
You just remain a spoiled, spoon-pounding brat.
You love to tell others how to think. Many have told you to listen and grow up.
Remain in your fairy-princess world, never learning full life and respect of
others' toils and accomplishments. Tell career military men and women how wrong
they are and how you would do things differently. The problem is, you do not have
the balls to serve in any capacity, be it military or civil. Are you a eunuch?
That is how spoiled brats act. You are almost classic, one of the worst I have
seen in years on boards.
Just keep impressing yourself. I'll keep laughing.

Interesting way to admit you're a whiner and a troll. BTW, your imagination fails you again. Anything to add to the topic?

I disagree with PC attempts to shame us into restricting our opinions, but I think Noir is coming from a good place here. The reactions to his comment are a bit over the top, IMO.

Oh, M'Lady. I am quite sure he might be a nice kid to meet, really!
But respect for elders or betters (Quoting John Wayne in "Big Jake") is
not too bad of a way to be.

Very true, Elessar.
(I think I asked this once, but is your name your initials (LSR), a Tolkein reference, or (how cool would that be) both?

It is indeed.
I have read his works extensively and think they are marvelous.
How one man could write a mythology that complex is amazing.
Most mythologies are compiled over years by various writers.

:thumb: I so agree. I rarely re-read a book even once, but I have read the trilogy over 20 times. And I am not even usually a fantasy reader. I think he pretty much stands alone.

I have read 'The Hobbit', 'Lord of The Rings', and 'The Silmarillion' each over 20 times.
The latter - every time I read it I seem to find something I missed before!

Nah. We just like picking at him. Shouldn't be so sensitive, Abs. You know ME. If I was after him, it'd be on. If I disagree, I disagree. If I want to make it personal you know I'm very well capable. Otherwise, he's just another one of the group to me.
He's entitled to his opinion as far as I'm concerned. I didn't serve for the First Amendment Rights of a select few. Even if he is a Brit. This ain't a Brit board. And you should know by now I'll :poke: at anyone.
Speaking of ... where's Jim's lame-a$$ brother? That dude is about to get written up for Article 86 (unauthorized absence). We're all sick as Hell around here and I can still manage to get on so long as there isn't a baby hanging off my arm.

He finally comes back after a long absence and then now is gone for 2 days again. Maybe all the fun was too overwhelming for him and he needs a vacation already!

We'll have to agree to disagree then. A PERSON is "supposed to look" however they want. Having been in the fitness world and around female Marines for years (was married to one), that look doesn't phase me. Those freaks they call fashion models couldn't get a date with ME if THEY paid.
I don't get the Steelers analogy. I'm a Steelers fan. Drove through Pittsburgh once. Does THAT count?
That's the whole point of the analogy. Of course it counts. You can like the Steelers, or anything really, for whatever reason you want. It doesn't have to meet with my, or anyone's, approval. Being a fast is just that, it's being a fan.
Same reason I have a problem with people saying small town America is the "real" America. Well, no its not, all of America is the real America, and saying stuff like that is elitist, saying that only this one group are really Americans. Of course, the people in said group tend to agree with the statement, but all those outside it have an issue with the.point.

I was with you until you got to the "small town America" part. I've lived in a LOT of the big cities in this nation, and I've lived in some small towns. People in small towns are genuine. They have to live with each other. Most, for all of their lives. People in big cities are too caught up in their little rat race. They're inconsiderate and self absorbed.

That doesn't make them less Americans. They simply have a different American life than the one you are used to. That's the thing about how large and diverse America is, is that we have vastly different cultures around one another. Life in NYC is very different than life here in even Portland, but that doesn't make either one less American than the other.

It makes them less Constitutional.
Look at ALL the crap going on and what is the basis? Progressive leftwingers and a socialist agenda. The Constitution is NOT socialist. As far as I'm concerned, if the Constitution doesn't count, neither do you (the ubiquitous you).

I think we are splitting hairs here. People can be more "traditional' Americans, but of course all citizens regardless of locale are Americans.
IMO:
Those who work for a living if they can, pay their taxes, follow the laws and contribute to society, are "better Americans", IMO.
Illegals are decidedly not Americans.

Been a word game for years. What is "American" and what is "unAmerican". The left goes "wah" over the word. The fact is, if you and or your choices go against the Constitution, it is unAmerican.
