1) Study Ebay and learn what sells and for how much.
2) Start going to garage sales in upper middle class or better communities. Start very early and get there first if possible. Craigslist can also provide good deals.
3) Buy what you can afford. Big heavy objects such as furniture and exercise machines are easiest buys. People leave those behind because they can't or are too lazy to haul.
4) Study what an effective listing looks like. Take good pictures. Answer bidder questions and in general provide good service.
