BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Authorities in Charles County say they are investigating a threat made against residents in La Plata, Maryland.

Police are working to confirm the credibility of a threat posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

The tweet reads, “IM NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE. TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LAPLATA #BlackLivesMatter.”

I agree. I never understood Twitter, SO many threats on there, and yet the accounts remain. Hell, even terrorists post on there! And I also think that they need to start jailing or otherwise penalizing folks that are calling for violence and/or death. It's a fine line, freedom of speech. What's the difference between "We need to start killing white cops" or "Start killing them white cops". And then I guess WHO is saying it, what is the audience. But then there are too many loopholes, they just need to be strict and go with jail. For example, someone writes the latter, but only has 7 friends, and therefore most think its useless anyway. At least until his friend shares it with his sister, who shares with her friend who has 90,000 friends.

An update:

LA PLATA, Md. — Police in La Plata say a 20-year-old man has been charged after he tweeted about killing “all the white people” in the town.

Charles Hollins was charged on Wednesday with making a threat of mass violence. He’s being held on $250,000 bond. Online court records do not list an attorney for him.

According to police, the tweet read, “TONIGHT WE PURGE! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LA PLATA.” Police say it was posted on Wednesday afternoon. The account that posted the message appears to have been deleted.

Hollins, who is black, was arrested on Wednesday evening in Waldorf.

Police say extra officers were sent out on patrol in La Plata in response to the threat.
