Though Russia denies official involvement in Ukraine’s civil war, a Russian news site briefly reported Russia’s huge military casualties in Ukraine Tuesday.


Buried in a mundane report on army salaries, Delovaya Zhizn (Business Life) noted that family compensation went to the families of 2,000 soldiers killed “taking part in military action in Ukraine.” The information was briefly online before Russian censors detected the fact and took it offline — but not before a Ukraine-based news site detected the admission and cached it online (http://nr2.com.ua/News/world_and_russia/SMI-V-Rossii-priznali-chto-poteryali-ubitymi-v-Ukraine-2000-voennyh-FOTO-104529.html).


That some 2,000 Russian service members have died, all fighting a war that the Kremlin does not acknowledge exists, is a staggering admission of President Vladimir Putin’s commitment to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian war has lasted for exactly 18 months — by comparison, the U.S.’ nearly 14-year involvement in Afghanistan has claimed the lives of 2,154 American soldiers (http://icasualties.org/oef/).

Oh... the guy that let that one slip is looking at a very bleak future, Stalin style.

2,000 casualties speaks of very bloody fighting, especially since the Russians have every military advantage over the Ukrainians. I guess it confirms the reports from Ukraine about who has been doing the fighting... even though we thought it was obvious, now Putin's own government confirmed it.

It'll be interesting to see if he addresses it.

The United states/EU/NATO should not of started a coup in Kiev in the first place which would of prevented Russia from taking such actions to secure its interests. Comes to something when the U.S starts installing fascists to be their puppets in countering Russia.
