A photographer and reporter are dead after a gunman opened fire during a live report.


Franklin County Sheriff confirmed to ABC News that an active shooter was reported in Moneta at 6:45 a.m. Local TV station WDBJ confirmed (http://www.wdbj7.com/news/local/law-enforcement-investigating-incident-at-bridgewater-plaza/34923086) that the photographer and reporter were killed. Their names are Alison Parker and Adam Ward.



The gunman is not in custody, according to police. Schools in the area were place on lockdown in response to the situation.

MONETA, Va. — The man wanted for shooting and killing two members of a WDBJ news crews during a live television broadcast Wednesday apparently posted video of the killings on social media. The suspect, identified by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office as Vester L. Flanagan, mentioned he recorded video in one tweet and posted two video clips in subsequent tweets. The Twitter account has since been suspended.


Two videos posted on a Twitter account under Flanagan’s on-air name Bryce Williams show someone walking up to the WDBJ news crew and pointing a gun at them. One of the videos shows the gun firing. Another tweet says, “I filmed the shooting.”

Watching the live video of the shooting (on liveleak.com) and the killer's own videos of the scene on twitter (since taken down) were incredibly frightening. Hard to imagine how anyone could be that bitter.

A cuckoo looking to die, thought he would tape things and go out with a bang and be famous. The workers will be remembered forever. The gunman ended his life and will be forgotten, rightfully so, once the investigation ends.

The scary part is, in todays world of videos, this guy didn't just use a smartphone, looks like he was somehow wearing a gopro or chest cam camera. Probably gave others some ideas. :(

Agenda driven folks rarely bother to check out links that may shine light on their devious folly and undercover work IMHO.
