Bernie Sanders is a fringe candidate in the Dem race. He was be less so as in independent.

If Sanders and Trump both ran as independents, which would make the most impact?

My guess is about the same in the 5% range.

I think you underestimate Sanders' appeal. Same with Trump.

Odd that Trump could wind up winning the election with something like 40%.

But only because he was a major party candidate with a third party entrant.

Agreed. But say the 2016 election were Biden vs Jeb vs Sanders, I could see Jeb reversing his father's misfortune.

No disagreement here. Some argue that Perot was a non-factor in '92 as he appealed to traditional non-voters and/or drew from both parties. Sanders would definitely draw from the Dems.

IIRC, Perot pulled mostly from the conservative side... I remember chewing my brother's ass for helping throw the election to Clinton. But he was young and dumb... :slap:

I heard Medved make that argument and it's hard to disagree with him but he had a guest that made the other argument and he had some fairly compelling polling data. Either way we were stuck with Clinton.
