Buying a mattress sucks!! This analysis by Mattress Underground sums it up nicely:
http://www.themattressunderground.com/our-articles/major-mattress-manufacturers-top-15.html
Ninety percent of the market is controlled by the crapsters.
I also quickly discovered that some of these manufacturers were struggling and that many of them had gone out of business since the last census ... not because of poor quality design, construction, service, or value ... or even from a worsening economy ... but because more and more their value was not being recognized as they were being overwhelmed by larger companies who began to dominate the information flow and the floor space of the largest retailers with misleading information and lesser quality materials promoted as being better than they were. Many of these had been in business for several generations and had passed their knowledge on to each succeeding generation who in turn refined it and "brought it up to date". Sadly, some of these are already gone.
Does anyone here believe a non-flippable mattress is a "convenience feature"? How about that memory foam that turns into a body-shaped crater in less than a year? Here's what happens when someone tries to use the warranty from a "big S" manufacturer (does big S mean they start with "S" or their product resembles excrement?):

Imagine paying $1,000 for a mattress for which the salesman told you was covered under a ten-year warranty. Six years later you experience a legitimate manufacturer’s defect. It turns out that based on your warranty coverage, you pay for all shipping costs to and from the repair location, along with $100 x 6 = $600!!! Nice warranty, Serta!
I read somewhere that Big-S always charges a fee and almost always "finds" a reason not to honor a warranty claim. This includes tricks such as using a string on a mattress with no weight on it to determine if there's sagging.
Thankfully Sam's Club and Costco accept mattress returns, but who wants to hassle with returning a mattress every 11 months?
My next attempt will be to get the firmest available from these guys and put a disposable mattress topper on top.

It also has a two-sided design, stitched cotton padding and handles for ease of turning.
