We need to push for strictly enforced prevailing wage requirements on work visas, similar to prevailing wage requirements on government contracts. This will remove the incentive to depress wages. We also need a freeze on deportation and/or extension of the work visa for immigrant employees provided they testify against an employer for illegal employment practices. This will remove the incentive to subject immigrants to illegal working conditions. We conservatives need to shift the argument from allowing too many immigrants to accusing those that hire illegals of exploitation and human trafficking. I'm pro-immigrant! Work visa holders should have the same wages and working conditions of a union employee. If there truly is a labor shortage, then there shouldn't be a problem with that.
