There was much more. So the man sued the two doctors and their practices for defamation and medical malpractice and, last week, after a three-day trial, a Fairfax County jury ordered the anesthesiologist and her practice to pay him $500,000.


The fact that so many people in this comment section say this is common behavior just shows how widespread it has become.

I don't buy he turned on his recorder to get post-procedure instructions. I suspect he turned on his recorder to hear what they were saying about him. And it paid off handsomely. Convenient, wasn't it? He didn't just hear what they were saying, he went to a lawyer to see how he could profit from it.

My family was involved in an accident with a drunk & drugged driver with 3 buddies in his car that ran a stop sign, tried making a right and hit my family head on. Their lawyers sued everyone, and I mean everyone. The farmer who's property the stop sign was on, Penndot, the Township, my Mom, others that I don't remember, just basically anyone with insurance that they could try to blame.

They had no case with the underage driver drunk, car filled with alcohol & drugs plus running the stop sign & speeding. It was settled out of court for what at that time was the 2nd largest settlement in Pennsylvania history, a high 7 figures

I wondered a lot of the same things. While a colonoscopy is not done in a sterile environment, it would be unusual to undress in the room where the procedure is being done. Like you, I suspect a lot foul here.

One of the scariest nights of my life came a couple of years ago. My daughter was spending the weekend with my sister and her husband at their home in East Los Angeles. My daughter had a reaction to something she ate and my sister took her to the emergency room.
Saturday night at an emergency room in East Los Angeles is quite an experience. There were gunshot wounds, serious burns, broken limbs and who knows what else. I felt great respect for the nurses and other hospital staff. They gave everyone the same level of care.
Most ER staff there run 12-hour shifts. Not sure if that is common practice or not. Some of the doctors are on 24-hour call. I can imagine being exposed to that level of trauma for 12 or more hours at a time.

What is it with you and v4R and your false assumptions? When my family goes for emergency healthcare, we make it a point to be as forgettable as possible. It sometimes makes the difference between whether or not they turn it over to a collection agency when you don't pay the bill. I know how to deal with collection agencies, but it's best when the bill isn't collected in the first place.
