Just had a Moose with her new calf come in the back yard to sample Sharon's raspberry bushes. They must be tasty enough to put up with all those thorns.

It was right about here when our cat came hauling ass up onto the deck where Sharon and I were standing. I don't think kitty likes having mice this big in the yard.

And.... time to go browse the neighbor's foliage. Baby moose are cute, but they sure turn into goofy looking animals. 2 year old moose are great eating, though - better than beef and almost 100% lean.

Great pics NT, but I have to ask, you say she is loosing her winter coat, y'all don't have much of a summer, seems about the time she looses it she would have to be getting her new one ???

NT my cousin ( yes the one that told me about bears running down hill :laugh: ) lived out in Yellow Stone Park, he was the head Game warden out there so he had a house on property. Well he showed pictures of a moose that used his carport to have her young, the snow was as high as the gutters on his house but in the picture you can see the moose in the carport, I have my questions after the bear deal, but the pictures where beautiful none the less.

Kat I use to see trucks with what looked to be a great big push bar on the front of them, I always joked and said they had them because their bosses knew they couldn't drive, but once I went out West I seen what they are for, not only for the extra large wild life crossing the road but I have seen roads in the desert that have no fences and the cattle will cross, man you hit a full grown cow at 70 mph it isn't going to be pretty.

I remember one night coming home late late, wee hours of the morning, I had loaded in Charleston and was heading to GA, Laura had road with me ( just to spend some time together ) well we where tired and trying to get home , I was running dang near triple digits up 985 ( a four lane but at that time of night a empty 4 lane) well in the medium, almost on the line stood a full grown Bull, needless to stay it scared the Heck out of me, Laura immediately got on the phone to call it in and the dispatcher said yes a car had hit it already, just as she said that I seen car parts all over the road and a quarter mile up the road sat a car that looked like it had been put through one of those car crushers at the junk yard, man those big animals can cause serious trouble.

I saw just what you're speaking of the other day. Went to Grand Canyon to meet up with youngest son and his girlfriend, North Rim. Going through the desert-Cave Dweller area, where buffalo used to roam. Crossing the road were several cows and a bull. I had been driving at 85-90, slowed down after that!

Yeah, if you look closely at her shoulder you'll see the clumps of fur... also on her jawline. They'll start growing the winter coat in September or so when it cools off.

Looks like Eielson AFB north of Fairbanks... lots of those critters there.

I have a pic of a road sign showing a mosquito attacking a car up in Denali Park somewhere, I'll try and find it when I get back home - it's pretty funny.
