We have a busy summer planned!
We will jumping across the pond to Jolly Ole England to take in The Ashes at Lord's. Which I have long wanted to do.
Then we are off to the World's Fair in Milan. Which we will have VIP passes for because we know people who live there.

I loved DC as a teaching experience for my daughter. We've been there a couple of times.
Best way to see Europe is to avoid the touristy places and find where the locals hang out. Which is why I enjoy Germany.

As for myself, the Lady of the House and the "fur-children" we'll be boarding the R/V and heading north to the Great State of Maine. There we shall spend time with the children and the grand children.
From there, off to Nashville TN to visit the other daughter (and husband) and to see the newest addition to the family (due mid July).
We'll be enjoying the Military campgrounds wherever possible, but we're really looking forward to the piney woods of Maine!

I'm guessing nothing this year. My wife wants us to do a road trip to Veracruz. I don't think that's a good idea with minor children we are still responsible for.

I travel for a living, but don't have any pleasure trips planned this year. Mostly planning local stuff with the grandkids on the week of the 4th of July.
Kayaking, hiking, a night Rangers game and a trip to the local waterpark.

Just got back from a Mediterranean cruise to see Barcelona, Capri and Rome, and our annual trip to Maine is next month.
We're currently in England, only a few days left until we head home, most of the rest of the summer trips will be around Northern Ireland/Ireland. With a trip planned to Prague once Ice Hockey season starts up.

That is one of the countries we are hitting. Really like the idea of AirBNB as a way to stay and meet locals to direct us to the good places and not the touristy places!!!

Planning to stay in Lukojanov, Nizhni Novgorod Region June-October (my own 2 compartment flat), plus visit GB and France with my Grandson for 3 weeks in August. (Visas and air tickets obtained.) Hope my friends there are still alive and our meeting will be pleasant for them.
These are some pictures of Lukojanov.

Not got a lot planned, in my case. I stepped over the border into England yesterday and day-tripped to Hereford, just for a quick look-around (I'd been there once before). Staying in Wales for the most part -- a brief stay in London is planned for the end of July (back to my roots, to where I was born, and raised). Another in September, in Southport, in the north of England.
[What funds I've set aside are mainly for computer upgrading at home. I'm planning (part-designing, courtesy of an online Company specialising in such orders) a 5 terabyte machine for myself.]
Hope Gabby enjoys her own England trip, and manages not to get delayed by any disruptive Mosque-building anywhere ...

We were just down the road! Spent most of yesterday in Cheltenham, was somewhat nice but really a poor mans Bath from what I saw.

If you're going to Lord's, you'll not be far from the Baker Street area. Madame Tussaud's, the Planetarium, are both a short(ish) walk from each other.
You could get to meet all your favourite Leftie leaders in one place .. looking waxy and lifeless, of course ...

Noir, you weren't scouting out 'The Doughnut', aka GCHQ, by any chance ?
Cheltenham's also a poor man's Gloucester, too, by my reckoning. Not that I'm particularly familiar with either, admittedly.
Now, if you were discussing north London ... that'd be a different matter ...
-- Gabby, tell you what - care to make an educational detour ? Visit two areas in London. Hackney, and Tottenham. Each has had Left-wing councils dominate it continuously, for literally GENERATIONS. So, take a look around. With such long-serving Socialist authorities looking after them, those areas should be paradises ... eh, Gabby ?
Don't let the dysfunctionality of the diverse spectrum of cultural inputs, mixed with apparent dilapidations (mosques excepted, of course, and the occasional Tesco supermarket), fool you. Each is an alleged 'Socialist paradise' !
I've said it twice, so, it must be true ....

Sounds great! I've never been, but my Raleigh-living brother has vacationed there a few times with his family. He and is youngest daughter skateboarded together then the daughter got into surfing. My brother followed suit. They've been surfing together in Florida.

This summer is just a week at Dewey Beach in Delaware and short trips. New roofs for the house & garage instead of travel. This past winter though was 3 trips to Fla., A week in Myrtle Beach, and 10 days in Jamaica. I like to get out of town when it's cold.

I once worked a summer with a plumber back in 1975.
HE CHARGED THE STANDARD RATE THEN WHICH WAS OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH, averaging about a regular days pay(back then) every 30 minutes.
He made more mulla in a single day's work than certified electricians made in a week and they themselves were not cheap!
I did not care for that kind of work so left for greener pastures and a whole lot less dealing with crap!! ;)
Never regretted making that decision...
Please try to be sitting down if he hands you the bill after staying there more than three hours! -Tyr

Fine .. enjoy your cricket.
Your daughter could do worse than head off to Tottenham to do a bit of her shopping. Just across the road from Seven Sisters Tube, she'll find a Tesco supermarket. She may find it Leftily appealing, given the large(ish) World Foods section ... larger than is usual for a Tesco, on account of all the various ethnic minorities the Socialist paradise of Tottenham caters for.
A little less than a mile down the road towards Bruce Grove, she can visit the 'epicentre' of the point of origin of England's riots .. from 2011. Because in Leftie paradises, of course, as we all know, people are deliriously happy.
Of course, if she's into very long walks, she can enjoy the long walk that walking down the Seven Sisters Road will provide her with. It spans a couple of London boroughs. If she's seeking 'ethnically enriching' religious structures, she can visit any (or all) of the SIX mosques that single road has.
[By the way, on the left-corner of Seven Sisters Road where it meets Tottenham High Road (N17), she'll find a small kebab shop. They serve some of the tastiest lamb kebabs I've ever had ...]

I'm surprised, FJ. In your capacity as 'The One True Thatcherite', I'd have thought you would want to take the opportunity to visit your spiritual home, and turn up at the offices of the Thatcher Foundation ?
Take a two week holiday .. and spend all that time trying to convince those who run it that you're a better Thatcherite than anyone else (including all those you speak to, naturally ..). As 'The One True Thatcherite', surely you're claiming that very thing ?
I'm sure they will consider it their life's ambition satisfied, to be outclassed (and effectively insulted) by such as you ...

... Trolling, FJ ? Moi ?? Au Contraire ...
FJ, can't you take a friendly suggestion ? You say you're 'The One True Thatcherite'. Therefore, you claim superior Thatcherite status to anybody else. Why WOULDN'T you welcome my eminently friendly and helpful suggestion, that of visiting the home of Thatcherism, to speak to other Thatcherites, and thoroughly impress them with your self-professed 'superiority' .. ?
Are you seriously telling me that you wouldn't regard that as a highly enjoyable summer trip to make ?!? Who are you kidding ??
By the way .. your 'Thatcherite Thatcherite Thatcherite' piece of troll rewriting is nowhere near as numerous an example of supposed 'trolling' than is your ACTUAL troll addition of the word 'Thatcherite' in your monicker description. Since it appears in your EVERY post ... how many appearances of 'Thatcherite' does that add up to ?
It's not as though you've any way whatever of backing it up. You're even disdainful of those who 'parrot' her views !!!
It's perhaps a point you could make to the staff of the Thatcher Foundation. That 'parroting' Margaret Thatcher's perspective is a sign of their 'inferiority' to your good self .. !!!
So, make the trip, and tell us how it all works out .. why don't you ?
