Not to be to sarcastic .... BUT ....

Two - three weeks of parade practice so we could parade and stand in formation in the hot sun so a bunch of civilians could sit in the stands and listen to some speech that was as verbose as it was long.

Seems like everyone gets that day off but the military.

It's all about the eyes of the beholder. ;)
