View Full Version : As always, liberals depend on changing human nature for their agenda to work

A telling trend keeps emerging from leftist fanatics who run into opposition to their rosy plans for making us all better. The only way their plans can work, is for human nature to change. And the leftists simply decide that they will change it. As though they had the slightest ability to undo thousands of years of evolution, life experience, and human nature.
This weird god-like ability keeps being cited again and again by leftists as a viable solution to their problems. Meaning, they're willing to actually try it on us. And not just recently - it's been going on for decades, if not centuries.
Some of the latest examples:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/13/obama-call-to-change-how-media-reports-raises-concerns/
"We're going to have to change how our body politic thinks, which means we're going to have to change how the media reports..." - Barack Obama, May 12, 2015
http://nation.foxnews.com/2015/04/27/hillary-religious-beliefs-must-change-sake-abortion
“Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will,” she explained. “And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed." - Hillary Clinton, April 26, 2015
Especially disturbing is Hillary's bald statement that she favors laws as her means of changing people's culture and religious beliefs. And the President of the United States flatly asserts that "we" (which always means government to these liberals) must change how the population thinks... and that the same "we" (govt) must change the media.
When the Bill of Rights was drawn up and passed, the very first thing it did, was to ban government from doing these exact things. The BOR was designed for the specific purpose of protecting the country from people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. And for reasons that were obvious to the learned scholars who wrote it, and the people across the country to ratified it. Yet now we find that one of them is President of the United States, and the other is considered a leading candidate for the job when it opens in 2017.
Hillary and Barack were right about one thing... though not in the way they intended. "We" (and this time I mean the people themselves) have to change how the population thinks. People have to become more aware of how governments have turned out when they decided to change fundamental human nature (a task no more possible than making people grow two heads or five arms), and especially when the politicians tried to use the power of a coercive government to achieve such a purpose.
More and more of us are falling for the shallow bribery of voting for the one who promises you the most free stuff, without worrying about the significance and effects of taking that "free" stuff away from the people who worked to produce it. A study of history shows that throughout human existence, this is what brought nation after nation into decline and ruin, often accompanied by bloody wars, famines, and massacres in the quests for more free stuff and the attempts to force people to change their nature. As true for Mao, Ho, Stalin, and Hitler, as it was for Alexander, Caesar, and Agamemnon.
And it will be no different for Hillary and Barack, and the people who come after them and try to follow what they are demanding.

I may be wrong, too often am, but I think there is much going on thanks to this administration that is a proverbial genie out of the bottle.
Much of it has to do with his continual denigration of the police and criminal justice system. Much has to do with his continual harping on disparity of opportunities and wealth, (latest is that those successful were just 'lucky' winning the lottery of life.)
I was speaking with my brother this morning, he's always been to the left of myself, but not so much so that he voted for Obama. I think most everyone here knows he is a retired Deputy Chief of Police, now a 'Park District liaison' coordinating between the Park District, police, fire department, schools, etc. Like myself, he likes kids and education-whether teaching or learning. He taught police science at Northwestern night school for years. He also taught SWAT training at U of I Champaign for a few summers before moving into administration, (he was young then.)
I had to laugh, I only had an hour before having to go to work and after covering the kids he brought up Baltimore, Madison, and about 6 other police incidents that made him sound like myself! He actually said, "This started with that damn professor and the White House beerfest!" I reminded him that at the time I told him that it was crap and he told me then, 'Look he jumped the gun and is now trying to walk it back, give the guy a break!' He replied, "Maybe so, but if so I was wrong then, though not as wrong as this bonehead!"
He then started in on how the police at least in larger cities, will choose to be reactive rather than proactive. They'll respond to calls, but not put themselves out for preventative actions. He used the example of a black person driving down a main artery and some cop pulling him over-that would be wrong and actionable. OTOH, a black person driving slowly in a neighborhood that is not integrated is preventative. Same would go with whites in opposite situation, in both cases they may be looking for trouble or lost.
The idea of police discretion regarding arrests-especially for young people-will likely be gone in large measure. The police are more protected by making arrests and pushing for convictions, regardless of the circumstances and whether or not the youth might be channeled to better alternatives.
The department he was in has already provided cameras in all vehicles and on the police themselves. It already has resulted in additional charges being brought for suspects that probably would have been shrugged off in the past. The prosecutors review the video and suggest charges. No shit.
My kids, ages 29-34 now, have gone from somewhat liberal to pretty damn conservative when it comes to taxes and what the government has done with healthcare. Again, no shit.
A new president, no matter how well meaning or even effective, will not be able to put the new genie back in the bottle. There are now real societal schisms that will not heal anytime soon. They run along races, sex, income, and religious lines.
Trust in government, especially among the young is gone.
It's going to take more than an election to heal, if it can be done at all.

4) The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. — Winston Churchill
2) I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University. — William F. Buckley
10) I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. — Barry Goldwater
11) Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have. — Barry Goldwater
17) If you kill enough of them, they stop fighting. — Curtis LeMay
20) From this arises an argument: whether it is better to be loved than feared. I reply that one should like to be both one and the other; but since it is difficult to join them together, it is much safer to be feared than to be loved when one of the two must be lacking. — Niccolo Machiavelli
21) I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. — James Madison
22) If a nation values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony of it is that if it is comfort or money that it values more, it will lose that, too. — Somerset Maugham
23) War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. — John Stuart Mill
24) People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. — George Orwell

Good quotes, Tyr!
Thanks. I keep those quotes handy in my bookmarks. Reminds me of who and what my father and grandfather were !
The world needs far more honorable men. Our schools are turning out souls ripe for joining the field of dishonor!
And sadly, so many do....--Tyr

This comes very close to the truth of it. The Left are nothing without their efforts at social engineering, and well they know it. Think of a more subtle version of George Orwell's '1984', acted upon over a greater time frame, and there's the methodology, right there.
Oppose Muslims ? Oppose gay marriage ? In LeftieWorld, that brands you as a 'bigot', a 'hatespeech monger'. Social standards and sentiments, programming 'set standards' into the thinking of people, is how the Left operates. And they do it in such a fashion as to make people ultimately believe that those thoughts, opinions, are a product of THEIR minds, and represent 'inalienable' standards of 'decency'.
Give the Left long enough in power, and America will change beyond recognition. Even Conservative-led Governments will have to go along, if they want future votes.
If anyone thinks I'm kidding, consider that mine is an accurate representation of the British Conservative Party, today. Cameron says that 'Islam is a religion of peace'. Cameron says that gay marriage is fine. Cameron is on record as being totally in favour of our State healthcare system, saying he 'loves' it.
You see, Lefties have had decades to dripfeed their tinkerings into the minds of everyone. It's created a grounding that no Party can defy, if it doesn't want to commit political suicide. If you don't want the same to happen in America, then you need to vote the Dems out, and KEEP them out of power.
