View Full Version : Black Professor Barely Reprimanded for Horribly Racist Tweets
You can dress them up, ED U MACATE DEM but you can't get the Hood out of some, here is a educated woman ( or so you would think, considering she is a professor ) and she hates white folks, well guess what Beotch I ain't none to fond of you either !!
Do you want actual racial equality? Do you desire actual racial harmony? I have news for you: you’re in the minority. It seems even the most ardent champions fighting against racism are often avowed racists. Case in point: Dr. Saida Grundy, a black professor set to start teaching at Boston University on July 1.
She decided it was a good idea to get on Twitter and pontificate in a most scholarly fashion concerning the obstacles that need to be destroyed in order to achieve racial equality (http://socawlege.com/boston-university-assistant-professor-saida-grundy-attacks-whites-makes-false-statements-on-twitter/). Unfortunately, one of those obstacles is apparently the entire white male population. Below are some calm, well-reasoned tweets, absolutely none of which were written in ALL CAPS!!!!!!! or without any punctuation at all, and all of which avoid hasty and/or sweeping generalizations. Because that wouldn’t be fitting for a college professor. /sarcasm

I think this is a prime example of the 'change' that this administration has brought. The 'haters' now feel full justification for going all out, letting what had been 'kept under control' previously, now finds it imperative to give those thoughts and feelings full voice.
Like Michelle O, this is a woman who has benefitted tremendously by the sacrifices made by people-black, white, men, women who fought a Civil War; lived through and fought two World Wars; managed to secure the franchise for women; stood up to state militias and the klan to begin overturning the Jim Crow laws and secure civil rights. Michelle and this woman's parents and grandparents were those that faced the discrimination, likely with only moderate opportunities for success when already full adults.
These women have predominately benefitted from their race and sex. Yet, they argue that anger and hate is reasonable and deserved. In doing so they deny the sacrifices of their betters.
It doesn't stop at blacks or women either. No, this administration has provided the opening for haters of all stripes to give voice to the anger previously held within.
Those with more education or more money haven't a problem with calling those with less names such as ignorant crackers, white trash, living in mom's basement, etc.
Those with less education, but with more money feel no compunction from ridiculing others for being idiots without commonsense and too much empathy. They label with what they consider pejoratives such as liberals or products of false education.
Many of the poor feel justified in resorting to violence and stealing to get 'what the man has denied them,' actions that seem to them justified by the 'words' of those coming from the White House, Michelle, and people like this 'good' doctor illuminated above.
Even within groups such as Christians, feel justified in openly ridiculing those that also believe in Christ's salvation for all whom believe.
Within political beliefs we see the divisions in not being 'conservative' or 'liberal' enough.
In the past few months alone, I've seen this phenonema in real time in local news, on the internet, on TV, and discussed on the radio. We've become what those in power seemingly want, a nation divided along nearly all lines.

This woman should never be allowed in a classroom.
every MLK week i commit myself to not spending a dime in white-owned businesses. and every year i find it nearly impossible.
And maybe white folks should do the same with black owned businesses. And she's right, it's nearly impossible. And WHY is that? Because a lot of blacks don't want to work hard to get a business. And then if they do, the degenerates will riot and destroy the place.
The race issues in America are getting worse and worse and worse. We mostly see the times when white folks are guilty of a racist act, or accused of one. Highlight it and run with it. Truth is, there simply isn't enough TV time to cover the amount of racism coming from the black community. But the media doesn't jump all over that anyway, it doesn't sell as good.

She has that right. And I DO get the sarcasm. That's MY non-smilie you're using. :)
The majority in this country need to take it back from the minority. And I don't mean from just blacks. Pick ANY privileged "special" minority group that gets catered to. They all have one thing in common. They foment and breed off of hate faux victimization. And not a damned one of them has to work for a living.
The majority of this nation is too busy out in the fields to have time or inclination to sit around worrying about everyone else's business like all these whiners that don't do jack and feel all special.

Her research to date has focussed upon formations and ideologies of gender within the Black middle class--specifically men. Using ethnographic approaches and in-depth interviews, her current work examines graduates of Morehouse College, the nation's only historically Black college for men. Quite simply, this work asks how, in light of an ongoing national reality and discourse about young black men in crisis, the men of Morehouse experience gender and masculinity at an institution that attempts to groom them to solve this crisis.
Saida has a dual expertise in race and gender studies. Her research and teaching interest include Race & Ethnicity; Sociology of Gender & Sexuality; Intersectionality; Class Stratification & Inequality, Feminist Theory, Qualitative Methodology, and Urban Ethnography. Her most recent publication, "An Air of Expectancy: Class, Crisis, and the Making of Manhood at an Historically Black College for Men" is available in the July 2012 volume (642) of The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, edited by Elijah Anderson.`

*The University of Michigan Women’s Studies Department offers four joint interdisciplinary PhD options. It offers no stand alone PhD program (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/graduate/jointphdprograms#).
The available joint PhD programs are in:
Women’s Studies and English (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/prospectivestudents/graduateprograms/womensstudiesandenglish_ci) (established in 1994)
Women’s Studies and History (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/prospectivestudents/graduateprograms/womensstudiesandhistory_ci) (established in 1999)
Women’s Studies and Psychology (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/prospectivestudents/graduateprograms/womensstudiesandpsychology_ci) (established in 1994)
Women’s Studies and Sociology (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/prospectivestudents/graduateprograms/womensstudiesandsociology_ci) (established in 2004 - not accepting applications)
By choosing one of our joint PhD degrees, students benefit from:
Opportunities for interdisciplinary research and mentoring with a diverse faculty community (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/people/faculty) dedicated to excellence
An active cohort of students (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/people/jointphdstudents) involved in both Women’s Studies and another discipline
The intellectual and financial resources of a top-tier research university.
The joint degree is unique in that it combines grounding in one of four disciplines, training in feminist theories and methodologies, and interdisciplinary coursework in Women’s Studies. Students fulfill requirements in two units and pass a preliminary examination in both their disciplinary department and in Women’s Studies. In some cases, the dissertation project will be centrally located in the discipline and informed by feminist theory and/or methodology; in other cases, the project will exist at the intersection of the discipline and Women’s Studies as an interdisciplinary endeavor.
For more information on applying (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/graduate/jointphdprograms#) and admissions to the joint PhD programs, please click here (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/prospectivestudents/applyingforphdprograms)for more information.
Historical Overview
In 1982, the Women’s Studies Department established a Graduate Certificate to serve graduate students already enrolled in a terminal degree program (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/graduate/jointphdprograms#). Functioning as a supplement to a PhD or terminal degree, this 15-credit program sought to offer formal training in a field that until then was either largely self-taught or reflected only in dissertation research.
Twelve years later, we began to offer an interdepartmental doctoral program for small groups of students whose work cannot or should not be constricted by parameters of traditional disciplines. These doctoral students have the opportunity to acquire the conceptual and methodological tools grounded in the interdisciplinary perspective of Women’s Studies. With an interdisciplinary faculty committee that provides shaping direction from an early stage, these students benefit from the kind of collaborative mentorship necessary to develop andcomplete (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/graduate/jointphdprograms#) an interdisciplinary dissertation.
The first students were admitted to the joint doctoral programs in English and Psychology in 1994, followed by History in 1999. During that period, the Department committed itself to staffing a Graduate Chair position, which oversees student progress and program policies. A joint doctoral program (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/women/graduate/jointphdprograms#) was approved with Sociology in 2002, with the first students to be admitted in 2004. Although there remain challenges, the joint doctoral programs have been extremely successful as a doctoral experience, and their success has created a distinctive niche for the Department nationally. In addition, the joint PhD programs have richly benefited the Department as a whole: undergraduates profit from PhD students’ teaching grounded in feminist pedagogy; faculty appreciate being able to engage in a sustained manner with an individual’s training in an interdisciplinary field; and students contribute to the production of knowledge in novel and creative ways.
