Fox News REALLY screwed the pooch using Hannity and Geraldo Rivera to cover Baltimore. While CNN is more sympathetic to the irrational arguments of the protestors and/or their civic leaders, I end up watching them because of Hannity and Rivera. Hannity's time slot covering the riots is a waste of time for knowing what's actually going on.
Hannity is a lousy journalist who doesn't know when to quit beating a dead horse, and he just needles people. He doesn't ask the "tough" questions. He asks inciteful ones then talks over the person he's interviewing before they can answer. Everyone's covering Wednesday night and Hannity's still stuck on Monday night trying to blame the mayor. Newsflash Hannity: Everyone with two brain cells KNOWS Monday was the mayor's fault.
And I thought for sure Geraldo was going to get his a$$ kicked a few times getting in people's faces. Then when Geraldo and Hannity start arguing it's like two magpies going off trying to outshout each other and you can't make sense of what they're saying.

Agreed: Hannity is a Limbaugh wanna-be. He is an OK replacement when Limbaugh retires, but he still has amateur rough edges like those you mention above.

I just think it would have served them better to have Megan Kelly or Shepard Smith cover it. They're less inflammatory and way more objective.
Leland Vitters is WAY better and not stiring up crap than Geraldo. He shouldn't have even been out there. You don't send a match like Geraldo into a powder keg. People were doing their best to get these protestors to chill out and Geraldo was picking fights with them.

....."Inflammatory" to who?.....Racists?...Leftists?....who been running /controlling the problem cites for awhile now...and blaming white America....They`re better off with `low-view` CNN and the other leftist low-info media to Kiss their asses...*Fox News hit the Jackpot with their strategy IMO...to show Americans what they are up against....(they knew what they were doing and got expected results)...Those ignorant fools will always be and remain.."Inflammatory"...its their nature and very obvious.

Common sense. You don't get inflammatory people to handle a powder keg situation. They didn't hit any jackpot. What they did at a minimum was further alienate a segment of society against Fox News. Geraldo's actions were more dangerous because he was inciting rioters.
There's nothing smart about that. And Hannity doesn't get any answers because he never lets anyone answer. He cuts them off and shouts them down. What's he afraid of? Letting them say what they want? He's a bully. Simple as that. It's his show and I'll be damned if I can think of one person with an opposing viewpoint that ever got to finish a sentence on it.
I generally watch Fox News. Not when Hannity's on. There's nothing truthful nor fair about him. He's EVERYTHING in a nutshell wrong with the GOP right now. Not to mention reiterating the fact he's a piss poor journalist.

In general I like FOX; what I'm not crazy about is anything with Geraldo. I don't like when Hannity 'goes off' on folks, as Gunny described, but it's not all the time.
I do like to catch a mix of tv news, just as I do with my reading of such.
I have no problem listening to 'left leaning,' or 'right leaning' I'm perfectly capable of recognizing editorializing when I hear it.
FOX's coverage low point was the narcissis, Geraldo. CNN's was 'Sunny' making hay over 'thugs.'

Hannity does not present facts. He presents his skewed view of conservatism. If ANYONE defined "NEOCON", Hannity is the poster boy. All he's done is try to dig up dirt. The city council and leaders are obviously leftwing, yet he has spent a majority of the time trying to get each one he's talked to to blame their leftwing mayor. That's not addressing the issue. It's trying to place blame on Democratic policies. It's called overstating the obvious only he takes it too far, and he's flat out rude about it. There's no call for his behavior.
He acts just like James Carville from Carville and Dena and I originally quit watching their show and started watching Fox News for the very same reason. I don't want to watch someone shout everyone down. Hannity's just a different side of the same coin.
And his politics do not reflect mine and I'm a conservative.
How about what's the underlying problem and how can it be fixed instead of just trying for an A-HA! moment on a Democrat?
Geraldo's behavior as a correspondent among a bunch of angry demonstrators is inexcusable. In case you haven't noticed, it doesn't take a lot to set them off.

I can usually deal with OReilly. Not sure he'd have been a lot better than Hannity though. Political pundits don't need to be doing live news coverage. Get some news correspondents to do it. In that regard, CNN has Fox beat on this one hands down. They used correspondents instead of pundits.

"powder keg situation"
Common sense....it will always be a powder keg situation with some folks......They have been babied by the Dems running their cities for a long time...*still not good enough....Do you really think most of those folks care on who got shot or killed....? They have nothing better to do except look for opportunity to destroy...loot....steal ...
*Hannity has nothing to do with the stinkin ignorant GOP (you should know that if you watch the show)...as far as his `far out` guests....? *They should be lucky he gave them a chance to spew their vile.... Point is, hostility is not going to fix anyone's ignorance. Identifying the problem and working to fix it will. You can call all these programs "liberal" if you want, but the Republicans have made the same promises and not carried through. In this specific situation, you have to undo 50 years of indoctrination. That's 2 1/2 generations. Why do you think they believe what they believe? Failed promises? In that 50 years, the Dems haven't controlled the government but 14 of them.
I don't like Hannity. He's full of shit and I've watched him plenty. He was more in check when Colmes was on his show. He's as someone else posted above .. a Limbaugh wannabe. FTR, I wouldn't let Rush cover this either. You don't seem to understand what it is that turns people off to the right. Rush and Hannity would be two of them.
And yes, he DOES represent the current PC, GOP. Every bit. He's not conservative in my book. He's a totalitarian. His way or no way.

I've no useful detail to add ... it'd probably help if I was American, not British. I don't listen to Sean Hannity nearly as much as I'd like (I plan to remedy that).
BUT ... I'm close to being a fan of his. What broadcasts I've heard or witnessed of his convince me that he has exactly the right instincts to make insightful commentary, and to get to the nub of any matter he's involved with.
Maybe the media NEEDS his input, to get the proper balance, not least to offset Left-wing perniciousness ? I see nothing wrong with what drives him, or his approach. And I enjoyed his book, 'Let Freedom Ring' ... a very useful work.
I wish we had more like him in the UK. Hannity, and with Ann Coulter (Colmes we could all do without !) .. quite a duo ......

Hannity's too busy looking for an A-HA! moment over the left to care about anyone or anything else. There are people here who resemble that remark. Forget the underlying issue that caused the problem. He does not need to be involved in a riot/demonsration situation.

What's THAT got to do with anything? Geraldo was out last actually calling people names. OReilly even got on him about it.
You want to post that pic; yet, defend someone who is doing his best to incite it so he can point a finger at Democrats and their failed programs. The fact is, most anyone who watches Fox News and especially Hannity, already know the Dems programs don't work. People on the left and a lot of moderates won't watch Fox News, so he's he preaching to? The choir.

I can blame Geraldo. And I can blame Fox News. He shouldn't act like he does, and Fox News should recognize how he reacts. He's only been doing it since the 70's.
Nobody slapped him. HE got in an angry protestor's face and egged him on and called him names. That's not journalism. That's not impartial reporting.
Now, I'm not saying I don't agree with Geraldo's attitude. But I was smart enough to get out of journalism because I didn't belong with my attitude. I disagree with Fox News using him, and Hannity to cover this.
