While I was initially taken aback by the mayor's words, after reading what she said and listening to her words a couple of more times, I am now fairly well convinced that what she meant was that, in their efforts to provide the peaceful demonstrators the latitude to do their thing, they inadvertently opened the window for the violent elements to go to work destroying all that they could.

I absolutely believe people have a right and, indeed, a duty to stand up and voice a concern about a perceived injustice. I am disgusted at the way in which thugs continue to hijack such occurrences. And I applaud what I am seeing now. There is footage of a group of citizens engaging in a peaceful march to take back their streets. No responsible citizen wants to see people in the community victimized. And, despite the hideous crime rates in Baltimore, there are still good people there. WL. I suspect you wouldn't find many, if any here, who would disagree with you. But personally, from my point of view, and many long years of experience standing shoulder-to-shoulder with young Americans who came from places like Baltimore, Chicago, Philly, and New York City...to name only a few; where young Black Americans looked forward to one-day...seeing their home-town become more than the Ghetto, and Crime centers they had to leave. YES. Young Black Americans in uniform had the same hopes, and dreams White Americans had, and they still do today. But...truth be told. Democrat Political Machines in those cities with high
crime rates, and Ghetto's other Americans only hear about on tv...bring in the outsiders to stir up trouble, and take advantage...JUST LIKE THE POLITICIANS...of Poor, or No education, No Future, No Jobs, and drug trade that lures the UNEDUCATED into DOLLAR SIGN lifestyles..where NOBODY WINS.

She didn't stop anything. Status is more important for them. That mother has put herself in jeopardy, and her son (if that's her son).

Not sure I'd go that far. If the investigation reveals one or more cops are responsible, they should be punished appropriately according to the law. Cops ARE heavy-handed. I will reserve my opinion on what happened until we get a report.

No charges have been made of police or anyone. Regardless of his record, that needs explaining. It would if he'd been in custody for murder, which he wasn't, in fact it's pretty hazy why he was taken in that last time.

Maybe there's a reasonable explanation, but one would think we'd be hearing about it, no? I don't know the race of the cops involved, but given the make up of the Baltimore PD, doubt they were all or mostly white.

I completely agree. I just haven't rushed to judgement pending an explanation. I don't know enough of the circumstances behind his arrest, and/or if he resisted arrest. City cops will dogpile someone for resisting arrest. Not saying it's right, just that it is what it is. There's no public outrage over it. Not unless a black male gets hurt. It's on COPS every single night.
