I was looking at this yesterday on the news, too.

You can lob a shell up to 100 miles away with this thing at Mach 6! That's twice as fast as the fastest plane in the world, the SR-71.

Lots of benefits to this, like no more need for gunpowder (safer, and MUCH cheaper) or explosive shells - it's moving so fast that the kinetic energy annihilates the target. And they can fire one every 10 seconds.

With a few years of refinement and upgrades, this already formidable weapon will be a true modern marvel.

Another really cool thing the US Navy has going is the new Laser weapons outfitted for ships... they can destroy a vessel or aircraft for 5 cents, instantly.

There's some really cool tech coming out now, and there's lots more that we haven't heard about yet of course.


Edit : Strange, the story I read yesterday said Mach 6 at 100 miles, and this story says Mach 7 at 110. Either way, it's damned impressive stuff!

Now, just maybe. Everyone will finally understand WHY I have so much continued confidence in our Navy. Or should I say, Our Military?

I am always reminded of what Rumsfeld tried to tell people so often when I hear, or see such things taking place. And his words were:

"Why, you don't know, what you don't know...You don't know!"

I have never lost or even waiver in my faith of how tough our Military is, they are the Best, the toughest and smartest in the world, what worries me is our leaders, they don't have any of the qualities that I spoke of.
