Thought this might be an interesting story for those not "in the know" of this TRUE event.....MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Exactly 100 years ago this Christmas, a true Christmas miracle occurred in the most improbable of places — the bloody trenches of World War I. After months of war and 1 million already dead, an estimated 100,000 troops on both sides just stopped fighting. Ordered by no one on either side, it was never official, but rose up spontaneously from those same trenches. Men who had spent the days before plotting how to kill each other now plotted ways to show their seasonal spirit. The miracle later came to be known simply as the “Christmas Truce.”

Thanks Neo. Your post reminded me to wonder again...how many Americans today even know, we had a WWI? Sad to say on this day, how lousy our nationwide education system has become. Even to the terrible point that Many of those Teaching our children, and grand children today...are just as clueless, and probably never heard of those TRENCHES, yet they know who they will vote for on American Idol????

You're very welcome, and very correct. We, as responsible, ADULT AMERICANS, should make it our "cause celebre' ", to correct.
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING A LEFTIST HATES MORE.......than an educated electorate.
It always means they "lose".

"It was a beautiful moonlit night, frost on the ground, white almost everywhere: and at about 7 or 8 in the evening there was a lot of commotion in the German trenches and there were these lights -- I don't know what they were. And then they sang, "Silent Night" – "Stille Nacht." I shall never forget it, it was one of the highlights of my life. I thought, what a beautiful tune," Pvt. Albert Moren, a British soldier, wrote in a journal.``

If this is true, then why are so many conservative Republicans opposed to higher education?

Once again gabby. You are speaking from your own lack of intelligence. Conservatives are not opposed to higher education. Just those, like you who brag, and pretend to be so much more highly educated, while the rest of us you look down upon know...you, or your parents were cheated when paying for your Unfinished, Lack of education. In other words. Conservatives just don't like to deal with phonies who have letters after their names, for whatever reason. Yet they aren't smart enough to tie their own shoes, or must mark your hands, and feet with L's and R's.
