Former Washington D.C. mayor Marion Barry -- who became nationally famous after an epic cocaine bust that did not derail his career -- died Sunday morning at 78.
Barry served 4 terms as Mayor, but his defining moment for most people is what he did in a hotel room during his tenure ... smoking crack with a young woman as FBI barged in the room and he screamed, "She set me up!"
Barry -- who was a folk hero in D.C. -- became the butt of jokes and almost a staple on shows like "SNL."
But after serving time for drug possession, he became mayor once again. He served 4 times in all.
Barry became an paradigm of politicians would could do wrong yet still remain popular with the electorate.
Cause of death has not been disclosed.

Yes, did not derail his career!!!!! The glaringly obvious point made to the rest of the decent citizens of this nation.
Which goes to show the corruption in D.C. and the caliber of citizen voters there.
A cesspool filled with liberals, asshats and other assorted leeches, dem types that think and vote for freebies and stupidity on parade. Has only massively increased since then and what percentage of the population there is black??? -Tyr
Unfortunately what he did, and what Obama is doing is all kind of what the folks in Ferguson are doing, nope these guys aren't looting and rioting but they are feeding the racist mind.

That message coming from whitey means less than nothing to the vermin there just waiting to start looting and violence.
The answer is to start shooting their sorry asses as soon as they start their shit and dont stop shooting until they are all dead or have ran away..
That's justice and bout time its rendered -- -to hell with Holder and Obama--they are pieces of racist shit themselves!
Nothing stops a riot and their bullshit better than hot lead delivered super-sonic speed! :gunner3:--Tyr

I really hate that it has come to this but I agree, the lawlessness is out of control, the only thing I do disagree about is that you wont need to keep shooting, I have found these black thugs to kind of be like clock work, if you have ever had trouble with 5 or 6 of these animals you hit the biggest one as hard as you can and when he yells the others will flee like cockroaches, so why waste the lead

Update: NJ official steps down amid corruption arrests: A member of the New Jersey governor's cabinet has resigned amid a sweeping corruption investigation that has ensnared three mayors, two state legislators and several rabbis.
Speaking Thursday at a news conference, Gov. Jon Corzine said he asked Community Affairs Commissioner Joseph Doria to step down and that Doria agreed to leave office.
Corzine says Doria could not be effective with such a serious investigation going on.
Among the 44 people arrested Thursday were the mayors of Hoboken, Ridgefield and Secaucus.
Dozens Arrested, Including Mayors And Rabbis, In Bizarre New Jersey Corruption Probe.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - An investigation into the sale of black-market kidneys and fake Gucci handbags evolved into a sweeping probe of political corruption in New Jersey, ensnaring more than 40 people Thursday, including three mayors, two state lawmakers and several rabbis.
Even for a state with a rich history of graft, the scale of wrongdoing alleged was breathtaking. An FBI official called corruption "a cancer that is destroying the core values of this state."
NBC New York has video showing the suspects with the FBI:

."Federal prosecutors said the investigation initially focused on a money laundering network that operated between Brooklyn, N.Y.; Deal, N.J.; and Israel. The network is alleged to have laundered tens of millions of dollars through Jewish charities controlled by rabbis in New York and New Jersey.
Prosecutors then used an informant in that investigation to help them go after corrupt politicians. The informant -- a real estate developer charged with bank fraud three years ago -- posed as a crooked businessman and paid a string of public officials tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to get approvals for buildings and other projects in New Jersey, authorities said.
Among the 44 people arrested were the
mayors of Hoboken,
Ridgefield and
Secaucus,
Jersey City's deputy mayor,
and two state assemblymen.
A member of the governor's cabinet resigned
after agents searched his home, though he was not arrested. All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.
Also, five rabbis from New York and New Jersey -- two of whom lead congregations in Deal -- were accused of laundering millions of dollars, some of it from the sale of counterfeit goods and bankruptcy fraud, authorities said.
In rounding up the defendants, FBI and IRS agents raided a synagogue Thursday morning in Deal, a wealthy oceanfront city of Mediterranean-style mansions, with a large population of Syrian Jews.
Those arrested included Levy Izhak Rosenbaum of Brooklyn, who was charged with conspiring to arrange the sale of an Israeli citizen's kidney for $160,000 for a transplant for the informant's fictitious uncle. Rosenbaum was quoted as saying he had been arranging the sale of kidneys for 10 years.
The politicians arrested were not accused of any involvement in the money laundering or the trafficking in human organs and counterfeit handbags.
The number of arrests was remarkable even for New Jersey, where more than 130 public officials have pleaded guilty or have been convicted of corruption since 2001.
Mayor Vincent Albert "Buddy" Cianci, Jr. (/ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English)s (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)i (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)ˈ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)æ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)n (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)s (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)i (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English#Key)/ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English), see-AN-see (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Pronunciation_respelling_key); Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃaŋtʃi] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_Italian), CHAHN-chee (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Pronunciation_respelling_key); born April 30, 1941) is an American lawyer, conservative radio talk show host, politician & political commentator who served as the mayor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mayors_of_Providence,_Rhode_Island) of Providence, Rhode Island (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence,_Rhode_Island) from 1975 to 1984 and again from 1991 to 2002. Cianci is the longest-serving mayor of Providence, and one of the longest-serving "big city" mayors in United States history, having held office for over 21 years.
Twice elected Mayor of Providence, he also served as a prosecutor and attorney. Notably, he was forced to resign from office twice due to felony convictions. His first administration ended in 1984 when he pleaded nolo contendere (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolo_contendere) to charges brought against him. His second stint as mayor ended when he was forced to resign following his conviction for one count of racketeering conspiracy, and he served four years in federal prison.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Cianci#cite_note-Marcelo-1)
Cianci was first elected mayor as the candidate of the Republican Party (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_%28United_States%29). While in office he declared himself an independent (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_%28politician%29), and as of 2009 he said he had no party affiliation.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Cianci#cite_note-Marcelo-1) In June 2014, Cianci announced, on his radio show, that he would run for mayor again. He was defeated by Democratic candidate Jorge Elorza (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Elorza).

Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.
The congressman was convicted (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/11/19/246215030/florida-rep-trey-radel-charged-with-cocaine-possession) of misdemeanor possession of cocaine on November 19, 2013.
Radel's arrest seemed particularly ironic considering the congressman's support of mandated drug tests for welfare recipients.
On Jan. 27, 2014, Radel resigned from Congress (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/trey-radel-resign-congress-cocaine-scandal-article-1.1592428).http://www.deseretnews.com/logo.gif?c=438202243&d=%7B%22k%22%3A%2238278bc8d0266f0a26e17d3eab2fd95e 6a6cfd43%22%2C%22t%22%3A1416798114%2C%22p%22%3A%5B %7B%22rsid%22%3A%22mngidmn%22%2C%22prop%22%3A100%2 C%22item_id%22%3A2243%7D%5D%7D
