This reminded me of the Soup Nazi.

The Chinese Restaurant owner doesn't really care what his critics think - he's going to cook how he likes, or No Noodles For You!

I'd eat there. Extra MSG on mine, por favor!

So much for the idiom that the customer is always right.James Chu, the chef and owner of San Francisco’s SO Chinese restaurant, recently shuttered his eatery after getting fed up with picky customers. He also posting a bright yellow sign that pointed the finger at his customers for the closure, reports Eater (http://www.eater.com/2014/9/22/6827071/chef-who-blamed-picky-customers-for-shutter-says-hes-tired-of-trying).

Seems like a solid marketing strategy

Seems like a solid marketing strategy

I like business owners like this.

He's right up front with it, and I'll wager his business is booming because of it.

The MSG thing is pretty silly. If I inject you with enough 100% Organic Carrot Juice, you'll get cancer from it.

Kind of like Chick-A-Fil, or whatever it is... he made a statement and stood by it, and all the Gay Rights crowd boycotted, but everyone else that sided with him flooded his restaurants and he'd never had such good business. They're still booming, last I heard. They're not up here but I would have gone there just because of the story and given him business.

It's a gamble, of course, but if you know your customers it's a good move.

Back in the 50's, there was a place called Mel's Diner. Not sure where it was located, but there is a short film about it on the Smithsonian Channel.
The place was made famous by the owner, Mel, who had a reputation for yelling at both his customers and his workers. If you came up to the counter and didn't know what you wanted right away, he made you go back outside and read a menu taped to the window. When you walked in the door, Mel greeted you with a loud "WADDA YA WANT?" Every sandwich was made exactly as it was described. There were no substitutions.
Despite Mel's coarse demeanor, most of his employees had been there for 15-20 years. The majority of his customers were regulars.

When we were traveling through West Texas once, we stopped at a place known for being difficult. You walk in and the first thing you see is a sign that says "IT'S FOOD! SHUT UP AND EAT."
It was delicious.
