Hours from now. The darling daughter texted me at 4:30 am, "I'm in labor." She was due on the 24th, they were going to induce at 8pm today. Well the most darling grand daughter chose her own time table. Anyways, mom and dad are in labor and delivery right now, they put her on purtosin, to move things along.
Last I heard about 3 hours ago, mom is 'resting' in darkened room.
I get to Chicago late Sunday afternoon! I'm dying waiting!

LOL! My oldest friend is picking me up at Midway at 4:30, then we're off to do some baby shopping for clothes and books!
The plan was for them to move to London Oct 1, but now with a C-Sec I think a month maybe too soon. I can only take a week off, so I have to get what I can in 7 days! ;) Right now the plan is they will be in England for a year or two. Sigh.

Start saving your miles, grandma. You're a mother. You know once they start dealing with jobs and kids, YOU are the one that's going to have to haunt them. I suspect every time school is out. ;)

Thank you, all! She is beautiful and she has her parents over a barrel. LOL! I was shocked at how calm my daughter was in the hospital, but she had a rough week at home. Granted, no one would have predicted she'd end up with a C-section.
Her husband to her chagrin, is a young, male version of myself. ;) He's a bit 'intense.' His nervousness and concerns rubbed off once they got home, at the hospital the nurses kept reassuring her that 'all was well.' Needless to say, they've been on the phone to Dr. at 2:30 am, hospital at all hours, and now dealing with 'lactation experts.' It's not a bad thing to read a lot or be protective/concerned about your loved ones, but the intensity can be a bit daunting.
Yesterday they seemed to be calming a bit, I hope so! Though he was reading his umpteenth book, "Baby 411." LOL!
On another note, my girlfriend and I went shopping and found 50% off sale! Got the baby's Christmas presents and 1 year birthday gifts too! (Also found a scrunchy winter jacket for moi at Nordstrom Rack! Good deal! ;) )

There is something magical about the first grandchild. Our first grandchild is 22. She and her hubby are parents now. Our great granddaughter Emerie just turned one last month.
When you see your life come full circle and hold your baby's baby something wonderful happens, you are holding the future of your family in your arms.
Enjoy her.

Let him go and be high strung.
The alternative could be driving up and finding tour drugged up daughter from a c-section alone on the sofa with a days-old baby while the SIL is out BBQing with his buddies in the common area and talking about their Fast N Furious rice burners. I'd take your son any day over someone who took care of neither my daughter nor granddaughter.
Oh brother.:facepalm99:The first "first grandchild shopping spree".

What a little cutie!! I dig the toys too! :)
Chris, my SIL, sends me pics that have her in outfits I gave her or the toys I picked up.
That last pic is one of the toys I gave her for for 'Christmas' while she was here. It kept her happy at the Grand Canyon in her stroller, on the ride home from there. Seems also kept her amused on the plane ride home and still is keeping her amused. 'Best toy ever!' says the darling daughter. ;)
She does seem to already have great focus.
