How many White House Officials attended the funeral of Margaret Thatcher last year? Zero.
How many White House Officials attended the funeral of Michael Brown today? Three.
The White House sent three officials to attend Monday's funeral for Michael Brown in St. Louis -- three more than it sent for former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's funeral last year.
The administration's handling of the Brown funeral already has started to raise comparisons between the two.
For Monday's funeral, the White House sent two officials with the White House Office of Public Engagement as well as Broderick Johnson, chairman of the My Brother's Keeper Task Force.
No White House officials, though, were part of the presidential delegation sent last year to Thatcher's funeral. For that, the White House sent former secretaries of State George Schultz and James Baker III -- as well as the charge d'affaires to the U.K. and the former U.S. ambassador... (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08/25/more-white-house-officials-at-michael-browns-funeral-than-thatchers/)
Now apparently one of these White House officials has a personal connection to the Brown family. It seems Marlon Marshall, deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, went to high school with Michael Brown's mother...
It boggles the mind... Optics, people. In this day and age, appearances matter. Especially in politics...
I wonder what will be said, what the reaction will be, how will all these Michael Brown supporters react should it turn out that he did indeed instigate the events that led to his death? What if it turns out that he beat the cop, went for the gun, charged Officer Wilson who then, fearing for his safety and life, shot the man dead?
Everyone is so quick to pass judgment, they never stop to think...

James Foley's memorial mass? You remember James Foley, right? Respected journalist, beheaded by ISIS pigs, subject of an impassioned presser by President Obama...
Not a single representative from the White House. Seems he was good enough to use to try to bump his numbers, but Obama couldn't be bothered to send someone to represent. At least the Pope wrote a letter...

Obama is a lame duck president. He doesn't need to score political point. His underlings, who will all be looking for jobs in the near future, are out to be as visible as possible.
Why did reps from the Obama administration need to attend Thatcher's funeral? Their political views were quite contrary to each other. Did either Bush attend the funeral?

I'm surprised someone from the Department of Health didn't attend since the young man died of lead poisoning.

He may well be a lame duck, but he still represents the party. He is the de facto head of the party, in point of fact. Don't misunderstand me, my curiosity about the attendance of the Michael Brown funeral by an official delegation from the White House is not meant to suggest that he himself should have attended Thatcher's funeral, but I do find it curious that he didn't even send Biden. Isn't that what the Vice President does? Attend funerals?
And what of the possibility that Michael Brown's actions may have brought about his demise? What are the ramifications for the blind support shown by this administration and its followers?
As for the Bush's, I seem to recall that neither attended. In their defense, however, I believe that the grandbaby (or great grandbaby) was born right around that time, either shortly before or after. If it was me, I wouldn't have gone either...
As long as you brought it up, did the Clintons or Carters attend?

Truthfully, this thread was meant to be about the seemingly blind support for Michael Brown by Obama and his acolytes. They have not seemed to consider that the man may have brought upon himself his untimely demise. It is more likely that he was killed because Wilson was defending his life than it is that Wilson was looking to kill a black man.

This is what infuriates me ....
This is vile and disgusting and shows who Obama cares about and it’s NOT the men and women who serve our country!
No one from the White House shows up for the funeral of Major General Harold Greene but they go to the funeral of a guy who allegedly robbed a convenience store, punched a cop, tried to steal his gun, then tried to bum rush and further injure the police officer. Nice…

Obama will always need to score political points .. he has a constant eye on his image (.. and his golfing handicap, I understand). He also wants to further the future political fortunes of his Socialist-driven Party.
Why did reps from Obama's Administration need to attend Lady Thatcher's funeral ? Maybe .. because they recognised how great and reputable a political leader she'd been in life ?? And perhaps they failed to attend, because that sense of reputability, and respect for it, completely escaped them ??

I see a trend. The topic is one thing, and you go for the red herring. Does either Bush currently represent the White House? No. They have nothing to do with the question that was asked.
But Obama and his current administration DO currently (mis)represent the White House, right? Regardless your personal opinion of his status as President. Margaret Thatcher was a head of state of one our closest allies. Completely disrespectful on the part of our current head of state to not at least send a rep.
But he'll send three to this punk's funeral? And YOU can't see what's wrong with that? That's some warped thinking.

Just to show that at least the republicans sent someone to the funeral.. Plus 2 Reagan era representatives went ON THEIR OWN. Biden and Michelle were too busy pushing that failed gun control...
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced he will send a delegation to London this week to represent the U.S. House of Representatives at the funeral of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, former prime minister of the United Kingdom. The delegation will be led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
“Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest champions freedom has ever known, and her funeral gives Americans and friends around the world an opportunity to pay final respects,” Boehner said. “I’m pleased that Congressman Blackburn will lead a House delegation to Baroness Thatcher’s funeral to communicate our prayers and condolences to her family and the British people.”
The House delegation to London will also include Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and George Holding (R-NC).
The House delegation will fly to London on commercial air flights, in compliance with the Speaker’s directive that Member use of military air transportation be suspended with sequestration in effect.
Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.

Are you really asking this question about the Bush's?? Thatcher was one of our staunchest supporters, her and Reagan brought about an end to the cold war. If not for the Iron Lady we would be in a much different world, and for you the cheapen/tarnish her reputation by equating her funeral to "political points" is disgusting!!!!!!!
Regardless of what side of the fence you sit on, be it Republican or Democrat this woman DESERVED our respect and this POS administration decided to NOT send a AMERICAN representative. Obama has done more to damage our free exchange and partnership with England than at any other time since the Revolutionary war......
So back to the opening question Gabbs.... Why did the WH send representatives to the thugs funeral yet couldn't muster someone to attend Thatcher or Foleys??????????

Well, GWHB was 88 years old and just in intensive care at the time, so I think that's why he didn't go. GWB was no longer in office. I'm surprised he didn't go and wish he did. It was Reagan that she had a great relationship with, and of course he had passed by this time. Nancy really wanted to go if I recall but also couldn't due to her age and medical issues. But those are all personal - when it comes to heads of state, usually 'current' heads of state attend, or at least send a noted delegation. I don't think Obama sent anyone at all.
In looking it up, it appears congress and other political figures attended, just not from the WH administration. From what I can find, these are the only US politicians to attend:
Dick Cheney
Henry Kissinger
George Shultz and James Baker
Republican Reps. Marsha Blackburn, Michele Bachmann and George Holding
Newt Gingrich

The sad part here, is not the lack of people at Thatcher's funeral - but the need to send the equivalent to the funeral of Michael Brown. Do ANY of these people go to funerals of white folks shot? This really does go to stoke more racial flames. Seems HIS delegation is Sharpton, Jackson & Eric Holder.

Let the crying commence.I wouldn't expect the WH to send a rep to MY funeral however I am NOT Margret Thatcher!! Do you really NOT see the difference? Or are you being a troll:poke:
So tell me genius why did the WH send 3 reps to the Brown funeral. He is being shown to have not only been a strong arm robbery perpetrator, but a thug as well. So why would they send to this POS's funeral and not a Head-of-State that supported our way of life and helped end the long standing Cold War? So do you have an answer or are you only being a troll???

Did anyone suggest otherwise? Did anyone suggest that he should have attended Thatcher's funeral? Or the general's funeral? I didn't think so.

I'm not a head of state, nor has anyone said Barrack himself should break away from his speaking a lot of words and never saying a thing. It was complete disrespect to not send at least a representative of the US government. But they send THREE representatives to a thug's funeral because he was black and shot by a white cop.
There's no crying. Just disgust at the behavior this administration has shown.

He didn't send anyone to Thatcher's funeral because he believes the UK to be an imperialistic nation. Remember the bust of Churchill flap?
As for why he didn't send anyone to general's funeral is beyond me and still pisses me off.
