I agree. It seems these days that non-Muslim countries are acting more like Muslims than Muslims are.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia beat other Islamic countries in an Islamicity Index study conducted by two academics from George Washington University, United States.

According to the Islamicity Index, Malaysia beat Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other Muslim-majority countries, reported The Irish Times.

Professor of International Business and International Affairs at George Washington University, Hossein Askari said, the Islamicity Index has ranked Ireland as the country most faithful to the values of the Koran.

According to the Iranian-born academic, the next countries which are most faithful to the values of the Koran are Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The report also cited Prof. Hossein who was interviewed on BBC, explaining the study conducted by himself and colleague, Dr Scheherazde S. Rehman, also rates Israel as being more compliant with the ideals of the Koran, than other Muslim countries.

Not a single majority Muslim country made the top 25 and no Arab country is in the top 50.

He added that when their Islamicity index was applied, only two countries made it to the Top 50 which is Malaysia (33) and Kuwait (42) as compared to the United States and the Netherlands at 15 and France at 17.

Saudi Arabia rated 91st, Qatar 111st, while Israel was placed at 27th.

Prof Hossein and Scheherazde applied the ideals of Islam in the areas of a society’s economic achievements, governance, human and political rights, and international relations.

According to the index, “Muslim countries do very badly” accusing the countries as using religion as an instrument of power.

Last November Prof Hossein said, “we must emphasize that many countries that profess Islam and are called Islamic are unjust, corrupt, and underdeveloped, and are in fact not ‘Islamic’ by any stretch of the imagination.

“Looking at an index of Economic Islamicity, or how closely the policies and achievements of countries reflect Islamic economic teachings - Ireland, Denmark, Luxembourg, Sweden, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore, Finland, Norway, and Belgium round up the first 10”.

In their ‘Overall Islamicity Index’, a measure that encompasses laws and governance, human and political rights, international relations, and economic factors, “the rankings are much the same: New Zealand, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Netherlands; and again only Malaysia (38) and Kuwait (48) make it into the top 50 from Muslim countries,” he was quoted of saying.

I don't understand how a country who citizens drink as much per capita as Ireland can be considered Islamic. But perhaps Guinness is behind the Revolution and we don't know about it.

Look, Jafar, I back you up a LOT on here, but I can't give you this one. Whether they are radical sects or not, Islamic countries are Islamic. Just like I claim the Church's fouls, you gotta claim your religion's.

In the story, Islam's ideals were used to measure "economic achievements, governance, human and political rights, and international relations"

It's basically how compatible with Islam are these societies.

This study says otherwise. When measured against Islamic ideals and values, these Islamic countries you say are Islamic, scored poorly.

Maybe they are just bad Muslims and the non Muslims make better Muslims than the Muslims themselves these days. I've actually heard it said more than once from my Arab friends that the west seem to act more Islamic than their own countries.

When I read the title calling Ireland "Most Islamic", I figured you were referring to all the bombings in Ireland.

There is that similarity...

Very well then, that means we're completely off the hook for the following: The Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, The Thirty Years Way, Manifest Destiny, and basically every other horrible thing in the history of Christendom.

Look, I get that you don't feel like they hold to Islamic ideals, but unfortunately, every religion has assholes in it. Using religion as an excuse for horrible acts is as old as religion itself. We're not talking about some minor sect here, Jafar, and studies like this, that simply toss out all the evidence they don't like... they're doing you a huge disservice.

There's a reason for Martin Luther kicking of the Reformation, and it wasn't because the Church as a whole were a bunch of wonderful, understanding, and forgiving people. It was because there were things deep-seatedly wrong with Christianity, and they require address. It's the same thing here: You can't reform what's wrong in Islam if you don't accept what is wrong. Sweeping it under the rug, or deciding that a huge percentage don't count only does two things:

1. It seems like you're try to white-wash what is going on.

2. It takes time away from actual reformation of radical Islamist states.

I don't know what that study really indicates but it sure seems to me that every place EXCEPT Ireland isn't Islamic and all those claiming to be Muslim are really just thugs, terrorists, bullies, etc...

Islam Main article: Islam in Ireland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Ireland)
There are 49,204 adherents (1.07%) of Islam in Ireland as of 2011. The study doesn't say Ireland is Islamic, but it compares how these countries stack up against Islamic values. It's interesting to note that Arab countries with oppressive dictatorships scored very poorly.

You are correct; the article does NOT say that but the title of your post DOES. Methinks you were trolling just a bit.

Ireland top? Lololol i guess paedophilia was rife through the priesthood but i don't see what else they have in common with Mo's vision...

And Denmark second? The same Denmark that muslims tried economically cripple with boycotts because the free press was free, and the nations leader refused to bow to islamic pressure to break the Danish constitution and censor the press? (For which he was roundly condemned). That Denmark?

Whoever compiled this list has a glorious sense of humour.

There are many halal outlets from fast food to fine dining, not to mention a number of dedicated halal convenience stores dedicated to serving Ireland’s growing Muslim community.
