I understand that they have taken the charter off of their site and such, but they still have not taken their goal of the destruction of Israel off the table. Hamas is still involved in terrorist activities. They are still listed throughout much of the world as a terror organization. And it's bad enough that terror is supported and runs the day in Palestine, but America shouldn't recognize them for a split second.

---

During the 2008 presidential campaign, as it became clear that Barack Obama would be the Democratic nominee, he granted an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg in an attempt to establish pro-Israel bona fides. A Hamas official had recently endorsed Obama's presidential candidacy and when Goldberg asked him about it, Obama responded emphatically:

My position on Hamas is indistinguishable from the position of Hillary Clinton or John McCain. I said they are a terrorist organization and I’ve repeatedly condemned them. I’ve repeatedly said, and I mean what I say: since they are a terrorist organization, we should not be dealing with them until they recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, and abide by previous agreements.

In the six years since Obama made that statement, Hamas hasn't changed its positions — it refuses to renounce terrorism or its charter calling for the destruction of Israel. Nonetheless, Obama has changed his position on Hamas by deciding to deal with them after all.

On Monday, Palestinians announced the formation of a "unity" government that includes Hamas, which is on the U.S. State Department list of designated terrorist groups. Instead of scolding Palestinians for the deal, which would put another fork in the corpse of the peace process, the State Department said it expected to work with the government.

The argument offered by department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was that, it was "an interim technocratic government that does not include ministers affiliated with Hamas." But any real unity government that's being backed by Hamas will have to be heavily influenced by the terrorist group, which controls Gaza, no matter the figureheads that are put in place.

More disturbingly, the Washington Post has reported that, the agreement, "appears to skirt, barely, U.S. prohibitions on aid to a Palestinian government that has 'undue' Hamas presence or influence. The Obama administration had worked behind the scenes to suggest terms for the new coalition government that would not trigger the U.S. ban, reasoning that the money helps preserve American leverage."

So in other words, according to this report, the Obama administration actively worked with the Palestinians to help them mask the fact that they were bringing a terrorist group into the government so that they could get around U.S. law aimed at preventing the flow of money to terrorists.

If the U.S. wanted to stop dealing with terrorists, we could cut off relations with Saudi Arabia.

Jim. I may be wrong but. I DO BELIEVE Congress passed a LAW many years ago that STATED:

"THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DOES NOT DEAL, OR NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!"

PERIOD.

Any business type of dealings or negotiations with terrorists should never happen, IMO. And certainly not what most would consider "governmental" relations. But it's certainly less shocking to hear this after watching him let 5 Guantanomo scum to walk free.

If the Palestinians decided to include Hamas in their unity government, then there is no choice but to deal with them as a whole.

Bullshit, they do not get to void our Federal laws.. We have a Federal law that forbids exactly what Obama is doing.
Bamscum just keeps trying to force a Constitutional crisis in this country...
He should be jailed for his damn treason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They could just not deal with them for letting terrorists into the fold. We don't need Palestine for jack shit. Let them stay isolated with their little band of terrorists.

If someone that Australia deals with, another government, allows a member of Al Qaeda to have a position of authority. You're telling me that the Aussie government "has no choice" but to continue having deals/negotiations and such with them? We've written off legitimate governments before, not ran by terrorists. (See Iran...)

Seriously, has he stood by anything he ran on, he used the presidency to do just the opposite of what he said as a candidate.

As a candidate

During the 2008 presidential campaign, as it became clear that Barack Obama (http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/barack-obama) would be the Democratic nominee, he granted an interview (http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2008/05/obama-on-zionism-and-hamas/8318/) with Jeffrey Goldberg in an attempt to establish pro-Israel (http://washingtonexaminer.com/section/israel) bona fides. Once in office

An interesting article. It seems there's always something more behind the curtains of conspiracy. Timelines, don't cha love em. The administration doesn't.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/06/an_odd_coincidence_in_the_bergdahl_release.html

There are a few potentially important details surrounding the timeline leading to Bowe Bergdahl’s release that might deserve some discussion.

Truth Revolt supplies some details on the timeline:

This week’s [the week of Bergdahl’s release] secret diplomacy was not the first time the U.S. government had engaged the Taliban in an effort to negotiate a prisoner swap for the release of Bergdahl. In 2011, State Department officials held a series of meetings with Taliban leaders in Doha.

In Congress, there was bipartisan opposition to any release of Guantanamo prisoners. After the negotiations were made public in early 2012 by Sen. Dianne Feinstein the Taliban announced they were pulling out of the talks.

Truth Revolt continues:

The U.S. official praised this operation [the operation leading to Bergdahl’s release] as a show of interagency cooperation—it was a whole-government effort that he said had been in the works for five years. “We really got traction in the last week but we never lost sight of Bergdahl,” he said.

One great thing about the OBAMA administration has been.

How easy it is for everyone to recognize LIES, LIARS, and OBAMA.

All Mutually the same thing.
