SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - Magpul Industries, a manufacturer of ammunition magazines, is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas, making good on its threat to leave its base in Colorado because of new restrictions on guns.
"Moving operations to states that support our culture of individual liberties and personal responsibility is important," Magpul Chief Executive Richard Fitzpatrick said in a statement on Thursday.
Magpul threatened last year to leave in response to new state laws that ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds, require universal background checks for gun buyers and force gun buyers to pay for their own background checks.
The company, which employs about 250 people in Colorado, will move its corporate headquarters to a yet-to-be determined site in Texas.
Most of its jobs will be moved to Wyoming, where manufacturing and distribution will take place, the Denver Post quoted spokesman Duane Liptak as saying.
"This relocation will also improve business operations and logistics as we utilize the strengths of Texas and Wyoming in our expansion," Fitzpatrick said.
Colorado has seen two of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.
The state implemented the new legislation in March 2013, about nine months after a gunman opened fire in a packed theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora, killing 12 people and wounding 58 others.
Texas Governor Rick Perry welcomed Magpul to the state, with his office saying Texas has been trying to woo other firearms companies facing restrictive regulations in their home states.
"In Texas, we understand that freedom breeds prosperity, which is why we've built our economy around principles that allow employers to innovate, keep more of what they earn and create jobs," Perry said in a statement.

If Perry wants to improve economic conditions and aid growth, he should legalize pot. Colorado could increase its revenue by millions of dollars through new taxes and businesses.

Hell Obama showed the way. Just tax anything any amount and presto make hundreds of millions. Damn people just love air, so tax air! SCOTUS will rule it not a tax to hear the case then rule it a tax to uphold it as Constitutional! Never has been such an outrageous injustice as that in the entire history of this nation and most Americans are too stupid, too sold out or too socialistic to even get it! Welcome to Obama world, where corruption reigns supreme. I guess he is the damn messiah because never before has the SCOTUS been so corrupted.. MUST HAVE BEEN A MIRACLE AND ROBERTS MUST HAVE BEEN BLESSED...-Tyr

Obama will never tax you on taking a breath of air...
Air is free.
But he will put a Carbon tax on you exhaling as you are increasing carbon emissions.

But he will put a Carbon tax on you exhaling as you are increasing carbon emissions. Let him seize more power and he will do both with the same arrogance that he now sticks his middle finger up to SCOTUS
and Congress. His entire Presidency has been an overthrow of the government as it was founded.... He just has to do it slower to avoid the dumbed down citizens becoming alarmed enough to toss his traitorous ass out! And I am talking about marching there and doing that , not trying to impeach him and get him to resign. That's what he has to avoid causing so he has a long range plan and has been carrying it out ! Dictators do not resign. He is a dictator because he attacks that which he is sworn to defend, the Constitution, the Citizens and the Nation.. FACT...-Tyr
The only problem with this story, is they didn't leave soon enough. Before the legislation was passed they (and many other) companies said they would leave if it was… it's taken them quite a while to make a move to make good on their word, they were actually starting to get some serious bad press.
But those that pay attention knew this was in the works for a long time.

But those that pay attention knew this was in the works for a long time.I would pose a question to you regarding the leaving by these companies.. How quickly do you think you can pack up a company and move it to another state? You have to keep in mind that these type of companies actually CARE about their employee's and with that they help them make arrangements to either move with them or find other employment. If they wanted to up and leave in the middle of the night that would make them as bad as the Dems they are leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!:poke:
They had loads of time, and they had other states making them offers before the legislation passed.

They had loads of time, and they had other states making them offers before the legislation passed. And how quickly would you have made the decision yourself?? Would you be quick on the draw or would you wait to see what the best deal was and make the BEST decision for your company. Or are you OK with them doing knee-jerk reaction just to prove a point?!?!?!!?
They had plenty enough time to sort through it all.

They had plenty enough time to sort through it all.REALLY???? when was the last time YOU relocated a company??? It truly is NOT a simple thing to do especially one that deals in firearms and related paraphernalia.
Do you honestly think they can just pick a place and move there. There are countless negotiations in regard to local and state tax abatement's just to start with. This is a months if not years long process to move an established company to a location that they may like.. for you to state "it took too long" is really pretty disingenuous!!!!
How long do YOU think it should take since you feel they took too long????
What is your connection to the company? If none, are you just arguing for the sake of argument? Probably. Nothing to see here, just more of the same.

Well Tell me what is YOUR connection to the company??? or are you just whining for the sake of whining?? Nothing to see just more of the same bitching!!!! You will whine about anything won't you!?!?!?!?
I at least ATTEMPTED to explain WHY they took so long to move out YOU on the other hand were to busy whining as to why they didn't leave earlier!! So tell me, who has the problem here????
As long as you have your cheering section, it's all good. :poke:

I don't need a cheering section I appreciate that they may feel the same as me, but you didn't answer the question. just deflect and ignore that which calls you out.. so why don't you answer the question posed to YOU?????

You need to find a hobby.I will take that as I don't have anything to add to the conversation and I don't want to answer any questions put to me even though the person I am exchanging posit with has asked me a question.......
Fly by posting is NOT debating!!!!!
No, it means you need to find a hobby. But I understand you have problems comprehending basic sentences.
They had plenty of time is pretty clear. Of course, if you don't live here and thus haven't followed the news from the start, you might come across as clueless and just looking to start a fight, as you do.
