A biography of Barack Obama that is being used in Dupo, Illinois, claims that white people rejected Barack Obama because of his race, the Illinois Review said Thursday.
According to the Review, the book, simply titled "Barack Obama," supplements the school's Common Core curriculum, and "blames television for the negative behaviors the first African-American president picked up as a teen."
Another passage claims that white voters would never vote for a black president. The Washington Post, however, says that Obama received 39 percent of the white vote in 2012, the same percentage Bill Clinton received in 1992. Obama also received 43 percent of the white vote in 2008.
Nevertheless, the book leaves the impression that the opposite took place.
"But some people said Americans weren't ready for that much change. Sure Barack was a nice fellow, they said. But white voters would never vote for a black president. Other angry voices were raised. Barack's former pastor called the country a failure. God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens, he said," the book says.
Parents were outraged when fourth-grade students at Bluffview Elementary were told the book would be tested for grades.
A Facebook group called "Moms against Duncan (MAD)" brought attention to the book the Review added. The group formed as a result of derogatory comments recently made by Education Secretary Arne Duncan against "white suburban moms" and their resistance to Common Core standards. THIS SHOULD REALLY ALARM PEOPLE!!! This is government sponsored racism and its aimed directly against the largest group of people in this nation that opposes Obama and his policies. Make no mistake that is what its about. Lying propaganda to turn the kids against the parents and try to justify what they want to do to us. -Tyr

Democrats generally vote for (D) and Republicans generally for the (R). I doubt democrats/liberals voted for the opposition simply because Obama is black. Was there likely some independents who voted against Obama because he was black? I'm sure there were many. I'd also bet, and I'd bet a lot, that there were more black folks around the nation that voted Obama solely because he was black.

yes there were a whole lot of black people that voted for Obama because he was black. AND he was a democrat, so most of them would have voted that ticket anyway. Hillary or joe blow. that's admitted without to much controversy. Similar to a whole lot of Catholics that voted for Kennedy.
common core is a nightmare but depending on the details here it may not be that far off.
some people DID say that America wasn't ready for a black president. both Ds and Rs.
I wonder if some people that have been regulars on this board would vote for a black person.
I could post more than a few youtube vids of White democrats himmng and hahing trying to come up with a logical reason why they weren't going to vote for Obama and for the 1st times in there lives were going to vote republican.
Many came right out and said that'd they'd never vote a black person.

Here's a report that says in a survey of Kentucky Democratic voters in the 2008 primary 21% admitted that race was a factor in their vote.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKWHCZSWbHU
there's plenty more similar vids and articles that have many Democratic whites saying point blank that they would not vote for a black person.
I don't think Democrats have any MORE racist in their party than republicans do.
But since Obama WON i don't think it's be fair to smear all whites as "racist" but c'mon.
It has to be said , if we're honest, that there's still real white against black racist across America.
So sadly yes the core curriculum is right on this point, some whites didn't want him to win and would not vote for him because he was black. That SHOULD NOT be the biggest take away from Obama's election history but it's not a point that should be ignored or airbrushed out of site either. Frankly his election was historic in a positive sense racially,(if not a positive politically otherwise) mainly because race has been such an horror story in our country.
And i hope no one comes back at me with a bunch of "well some black people blah blah .."
It doesn't erase or justify some whites current and active racism.

It doesn't erase or justify some whites current and active racism. Rev, some blacks never vote for a white candidate if the other choice offered is brown or black. What does it prove that some WHITES rejected the ffing bastard because he claimed to be black?? Why teach it ? Are they then teaching of black prejudice, no sir. They act as if its does not exist. This was pure racism and presented by government authority to indoctrinate our kids. Whomever is responsible should be at the very least jailed , at the WORST, executed IMHO. -- TYR

Gaffer. Please don't confuse Rev with numbers, or anything that involves Thought.
I doubt, anyone here ever denied that whites have a history of racism.
Problem is. In today's Mixed-up, hatred filled World. The greatest defense against White People has become Black Racism...often denied, and forbidden from any civil discussions that only generate MORE Racism to defend the claims that Slavery still exists....until the CHECK ARRIVES.

Rev, some blacks never vote for a white candidate if the other choice offered is brown or black.
so, some few blacks do it too so what, it should not be mentioned ever that some whites are racist?
as i said and what some few blacks do "most of whom are voting democrat NO MATTER WHAT. if a Black republican is on the tick you DO NOT see a whole switch. no He's called an Uncle tom by the left black democrats and the loyal black voters vote for the white democrat Tyr. Guys like Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, J. C Watts, Allen West and Alan Keyes don't get the bulk of black votes or Black support. I spoke to a few Christian black women women Alan Keys was running in a republican primary they did not want to vote for him because he was "too pro-life". (BTW there are many prolife Black christian women I worked with several at the local pro-life pregnancy center. One was the founder that went to our church.)
And in ge i don't see the same vitriol and level of frustration with the Idea of a a "white representative" as many of the folks point out above have with a balck person "I just don't think it's right that a black person should be president"
have you ever heard anything like that from a large groups of balck or other minorityies. "I don't think it's right that a white person should be president"
maye it me but i see a distiction in the the type of "racism". One side (21%?) cannot stand the very idea of a black person in office, the other few would "prefer" a black over a white thinking they might get a little better deal but can and will vote for whites any day of the week without a problem.
are both bad, sure is one worse than the other IMO yes.
should we never mention one but not the other or only mention one if give equal or double time to the other?
What does it prove that some WHITES rejected the ffing bastard because he claimed to be black?? Doesn't prove anything it's just a stament of fact. just like saying that muslims stone women in honor killing. no matter how much Jafar says it's not normal and not right. it doesn't ERASE the fact that it does happen.
Why teach it ? As i said I don't think it needs to be mentioned in a vacuum. but i can think of 2 reason why it should be.
1. to nip denial in the bud.
2. It happens to be a fact. Not the most important fact but it's a fact.
Are they then teaching of black prejudice, no sir.
They should, but as with white racism in the true context. not all whiites are racist and again most blacks vote for whites ALL THE TIME. it's not quite the same level of vitriol and prejudice and not the same kind of thinking (not good enough to be president because of color). It's more of (whites have been doing us in for years but if i vote black/brown he'll help us out). Are either one based on a clear view of reality? i don't think so. Both are damaging but IMO one is more toxic than the other.
Are there some black cults that teach the white man is the devil. yep. but most blacks don't have time for that foolishness. Same as most whites are repelled by nazi talk.
Should kids be aware of all of that and more yep. be nice if they were. that's part of the real world seems to me.
They act as if its does not exist. This was pure racism and presented by government authority to indoctrinate our kids. Whomever is responsible should be at the very least jailed , at the WORST, executed IMHO. -- TYR
I'm Sure Jafar would say the same about Islam being "smeared" because of what he considers a few bad apples. i don't know if he's called for the jailing or execution of those who do it officially.
I think it'd be a bit of a whitewash if they didn't mention it in the context of his election. Tyr He's the 1st Black president. half black whatever. And it's a milestone because of the racist history of the country. it'd be a lie to say that Obama was elected because there was NO MORE racism. or pretend like it's not worth mentioning because .. it's only "21%" of whites in some states are not relevant and/or it might hurt some peoples self image. But yes ,mention that Blacks came to pole in record numbers BECAUSE he was black as well. it's true.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Common core writers mention racism during the election with glee and an negative agenda. But they should not be jailed for the truth even if told with improper motives.

what??
well to hear some people tell it, nearly all blacks are racist and no whites are EVER racist ever ever. If a black says he voted for Obama because he's black He's a racist but if a white uses the word N***** a from time to time he' is NOT a racist, Assuming Most blacks are criminals and dum is not racist, not wanting to have blacks as sales people is NOT racist... Not wanting to have a Black President is NOT racist... not wanting a black policeman... or son or daughter in law is NOT racist... nothing whites do is really racist.
it's all just bad press. And people just expressing their opinions based on there white upbringing. which is forgivable.
But blacks are A'gin whites and are about to start a race war a soon as Obama give the secret word.
If everyone would stop being so defensive and give each other the beny of the doubt I think the whole country could step forward again but it's in to many people's best interest to stir the pot and keep people protecting even BAD ground at this point.
facts are not enough, it's to personal. and tied to people national ID it seems.

Its much more important than the race card crap Obama and crew push. Its propaganda being fed to the kids to set the tone against whites. And its being done by government as a deliberate act to further divide this nation. --Tyr

What lies? I didn't find anything untrue in the excerpts provided. I guess you missed this. Can not see how you did but apparently you did. It presents racism against whites as a sanctioned teaching policy in school. Also presents Obama's opposition is primarily against him because he is black rather than the truth which is his opposition is against most of his policies because they are so destructive to this nation.. -Tyr
Another passage claims that white voters would never vote for a black president. The Washington Post, however, says that Obama received 39 percent of the white vote in 2012, the same percentage Bill Clinton received in 1992. Obama also received 43 percent of the white vote in 2008.

That's actually an excerpt from the article, not the book. I presume they evidenced that claim with this

Some people said this, others said that-- that's the claim and its true-- not that what those people said was actually true, just that it was said. I do wonder about the punctuation in the quote, (lying propaganda by the article's author perhaps), but it seems quite clear to me that it wasn't a claim of the book's author that white people wouldn't vote for a black prez.
