Last week, in one of the great uprisings of modern politics, Middle America rose up and body-slammed the national establishment.

The Bush-Kennedy-McCain amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens, and for the businesses that have hired them -- a bill backed by La Raza and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post -- went down to crushing defeat.

Majority Leader Harry Reid fell 15 votes short (45 to 50) of shutting off debate. Like the rout of the Dubai ports deal, the victory was achieved by a firestorm of public protest, reflected in millions of phone calls and e-mails, and citizens marching to town meetings.

The capital's capitulation to the country was unprecedented and astonishing. Not two weeks earlier, the amnesty provision of the bill had been supported by more than 60 senators.

But opponents of this bill, which would reward mass criminality with mass amnesty and eventual U.S. citizenship, ought not rest.

For President Bush is coming back to resuscitate the monster, and this bill has more support in the Senate than the 45 votes it got Thursday. Some Republicans and Democrats who voted not to shut off debate are privately committed to amnesty, if they can be given political cover and face-saving amendments to take home.

Sen. John Kyl is not necessarily wrong when he says, "All we have to do on the Republican side is sit down with those who have amendments, get those amendments in a reasonable package, not too many, but enough so all of the members can say they had their chance."

Kyl reads his party right. For the GOP is the political instrument of K Street and Corporate America -- the folks who fund the party and finance the campaigns. And the No. 1 issue of Corporate America is Bush-Kennedy-McCain. For not only does it give blanket amnesty to businesses for hiring illegals, it legalizes the illegals and ensures Corporate America an endless supply of cheap immigrant labor.

The fundamental reason this bill is not dead is that its authors and backers will never quit. For this legislation is part of a larger agenda of a large slice of America's economic and political elite.

What is that agenda?

They have a vision of a world where not only capital and goods but people move freely across borders. Indeed, borders disappear. It is a vision of a "deep integration" of the United States, Canada and Mexico in a North American Union, modeled on the European Union and tied together by super-highways and railroads, where crossing from Mexico into the United States would be as easy as crossing from Virginia into Maryland. It is about the merger of nations into larger transnational entitles and, ultimately, global governance.

This immigration bill is but a piece of a great global project already far advanced. In 1993, a majority of Americans opposed the NAFTA trade deal with Mexico because they did not believe the propaganda and feared that, as Henry Kissinger said, it represented the architecture of a new world order.

More than a dozen years have elapsed. And the results? Contrary to the promises, our trade surplus with Mexico did not grow. It vanished. In 13 years, we have run $500 billion in trade deficits with Mexico. Last year's $60 billion was the largest ever. Mexico now exports more cars, trucks and auto parts to the United States than we export to the world.

What NAFTA did was enable U.S. companies to close their plants here, fire their American workers, and move their factories and jobs to Mexico, while Mexico continued to export its poor to the United States.

What is the hidden agenda of the global companies, which evolved out of what were once great American companies?

They want a limitless supply of low-wage immigrant labor and an end to penalties for hiring illegals. They want the freedom to shut factories here and move them to nations where wages are low, benefits nonexistent and regulations lax. They want to be able to move products back to the United States free of charge. They want to be rid of their American workers, but keep their American consumers.

They want to be able to go out to Asia and hire bright kids and bring them to the United States to replace middle-age U.S. workers who cost too much. They want to be able to outsource their white-collar jobs to India at a fraction of the wages they pay Americans.

It is about globalism -- and about greed. And, as the Bible says, love of money is the root of all evil. But they have a problem. The nation has begun to awaken to the reality that the vision of the global corporation and the transnational elite cannot be realized without the death of the American republic. And so they are in a fight that is long overdue.

In case you've forgotten the 800 numbers set up by the amnesty lobby to get their supporters connected to the senators, here are the numbers:

1-800-882-2005. (Spanish number)
1-800-417-7666. (English number)
The White House has been telling the wavering senators that "this storm will blow over" if they just hold together.

If I got through directly to my senator just now, that lends creedence to the White House position.

You will need to advise your GOP Senators to resist Pres. Bush's amnesty appeal Tuesday

DEAR FRIENDS,

Pres. Bush will meet personally with Republican Senators on Tuesday to implore them to change their votes from last Thursday and support the Bush/Kennedy S. 1348 Comprehensive Amnesty Bill in a possible re-vote.

This will be perhaps the most dangerous moment for us this summer.

Please respond to my requests in this email for phoning and faxing so we can do all we can to prevent S. 1348 from being brought up for consideration in the Senate this summer.

PHONE your GOP Senators, plus last week's anti-amnesty Democratic Senators at:

202-224-3121

The pro-amnesty forces have worked diligently all weekend to overturn the Senate's rejection on Thursday of the Bush/Kennedy Comprehensive Amnesty Bill.

Bush Administration officials are saying that the President will throw all of his influence this week into persuading the 38 GOP Senators who voted against amnesty last week that they were wrong.

Senate Democratic leaders are waiting to see if the President can twist enough Republican arms before deciding whether to bring the S. 1348 amnesty back up for amendments and a final vote.

See how your two Senators voted when the Senate defeated cloture that would have allowed the amnesty bill to enjoy a final vote toward passage.

ACTION 1: Phone the Republican Senators in your state and urge them to stand firm against the President's entreaties on Tuesday.

ACTION 2: If your state has a Democratic or Independent Senator who voted NO on S. 1348 last week, phone them to resist any effort to persuade them to help Pres. Bush achieve his top domestic goal.

ACTION 3: For those of you who do NOT have a Senator in those first two groups, I urge you to look for one or two of the smaller states that are in your region of the country that do have have Senators in those first two groups, and call them.

ACTION 4: Watch for further Alerts today giving you links for new faxes and other actions.

Pres. Bush said this weekend that he understands that a lot of Americans and Senators have trouble with a deal that allows legalization of 12-20 million illegal aliens in exchange for heavy-duty enforcement in the future.

He says he understands that many Americans don't trust that the Federal government will live up to the enforcement end of the bargain because of past failure to do so.

But Pres. Bush says he will go to Capitol Hill Tuesday, look the Republicans in the eye and assure them that they can trust him to see that all enforcement happens.

There is something terribly strange about his whole argument.

It is as if the President who has refused to enforce most immigration laws the last six years is somebody other than himself.

In addition, Pres. Bush appears to be saying, "You can trust me to enforce the law if you approve the amnesty" but he is suggesting that without passing the amnesty the illegal immigration problem is going to grow far worse because the President won't be enforcing the law!

And he wonders why people don't trust him?

When you are calling GOP Senators, you may want to remind them that they may not want to switch their immigration position to follow Pres. Bush's leadership since his unpopularity is the reason they are now in the Senate minority in the first place.

SOME SPECIFIC REASONS SENATORS SHOULD NOT CHANGE FROM 'NO' TO 'YES' ON S. 1348 AMNESTY

Of course, there are huge overall reasons why S. 1348 should be opposed. But here are a few reasons that even somebody in the Administration might be able to understand (all of them related to the fact that illegal immigration will not be substantially reduced if this bills is passed).

AMNESTY-FIRST BILL: S. 1348 continues to offer legal status at the very beginning, before ANY new enforcement. The much-touted Triggers apply only to requiring enforcement before a new guestworker program and before the illegal aliens apply for a path to citizenship. But they can work and live in the U.S. legally for the rest of their lives, regardless of whether any new enforcement ever happens.

TRIGGERS ARE ABOUT MEANS AND NOT ABOUT RESULTS: The enforcement provisions are about certain levels of hiring and certain amounts of facilities. They are not about meeting particular goals about reducing illegal immigration.

FUTURE VISA-OVERSTAYING TO REMAIN EASY: An effort to require a full-scale Check-In/Check-Out system for foreign visitors was defeated by a 42-54 vote. This bill allows tourists, students and temporary workers to overstay their visas without fear of being detected by a federal computerized system.

SANCTUARY CITIES WILL BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: You would think that if anybody were serious about a grand bargain that included an end to future illegal immigration that they would agree to putting an end to sanctuary cities that encourage illegal aliens to settle there without fear of enforcement. But the Senate voted to continue to allow sanctuary cities to operate in the open.

In the end, it will be Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) who will decide whether to bring S. 1348 back up for another vote as early as the week of June 17.

We can be thankful that his enthusiasm for the amnesty has been cooling. His insistence that the bill's supporters needed to pass it or move on to other issues last week came in part from Sen. Reid's concern that the bill may be a political loser for him. A new Rasmussen poll shows that it apparently is.

During the last month of Sen. Reid being a regular public face for the Senate amnesty efforts, his "favorability" rating has dropped from 26% to 19%. And 45% of voters now have an "Unfavorable" view of Sen. Reid.

His ratings are even lower than for Pres. Bush.

When you call the Senators, you may want to note the effect of amnesty support on popularity.

GOOD LUCK,

stephanie

Keep ut the good work.........They NEED to listen to us...
Border security FIRST.........Then we might talk about illigeal immigration...We are being overtaking from within...with no shots fired..

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself."

"But opponents of this bill, which would reward mass criminality with mass amnesty and eventual U.S. citizenship, ought not rest."

Mass criminality, my ass.

It's people coming here, looking for a better life. The people who are here illegally are hard-working, law-abiding family people......the kind that make good Americans. They're no different from the Germans, the Irish, the Italians and all the other groups who've come here in search of a better life.

"Ahhhhh," you might respond, "but they're here illegally." They're here illegally because there's a porous border between our two countries. I guarantee you if it had been the Germans, or the Irish, or the Italians down there instead of the Mexicans, they'd be coming across illegally just like Mexicans have been doing. How much of your outrage is simply disguised ethnic prejudice?

The alternative to giving these people a path to citizenship (so they can start paying taxes and financing your Social Security) is.....what? Mass deportation?

Good luck with that. :lol::dance::lol:

You frickin' Republicans are all alike, i.e., "I'm on board the ship.....screw the rest of you. We're pulling up the gangplank." :salute::fu::salute:
